Lol and btw the "review" at the end of the video is fucking wrong. "Adrenal medulla" SHOULD be "adrenal cortex" to match up with epinephrine and fight or flight. ADH does not match up with ANY of the glands shown(should be posterior pituitary). Finally, the hypothalamus doesn't secrete any of the hormones up there. GG. Solid lesson ruined by a poorly put together quiz at the end.
hi - i was actually doing this as a review for finals. for the review @min9:23.. what is the ans for target cell b- stimulates ovaries. Also for Hypothalamus is it ADH & boost water retention is it correct or is this correct for anterior pituitary.. one last question thyriod gland-1-e.
you mentioned melatonin. right.? we know its the biological clock of our body. so why does it happens (I don't know if the same happens with others but it does for me) that my melatonin is secreated more in my chemistry class and secreated more on sundays.?
This video was very informative. I liked the way you had it set up! I love bio, but was unclear about this specific topic! Thanks, you've definitely helped me for my Unit test tomorrow!

Good overview of the endocrine system. College senior here. You covered about 1.5 lectures. Definitely used this as a refresher lecture for what I have to review for Thursday's exam.
I have one of those professors that are not clear with their discussions and jumps all over the chapter in AP.In that way I do not get the whole point of the topic, but thank you so much, I get it now (I am the type of person that in order for me to get the basic concepts I must get the overall picture)...MAY GOD BLESS YOU!!
@ foxrazgriz the production of melatonin by the pineal gland is inhibited by light and permitted by darkness. It has nothing to do with a time table. Thus melatonin is triggered by the absence of light.

god bless people like you that post this types of videos. YOU TUBES HELP ME A LOT IN BIOLOGY IT MAKES IT MORE CLEAR BECAUSE THE BOOK DRIVES ME NUTS.... BUT KEEP ON THE GOOD WORK I HOPE YOU KEEP ON POSTING NICE CLEAR VIDEOS. A+ VIDEO. :)
If melatonin secreted by the pineal gland helps us to sleep, is it our "inner clock"? By that, I mean does it set up patterns of sleep?
For instance, does the gland start to secrete at 11PM if I tend to stay up until 11PM for a period of time? Will it also stop secreting melatonin at 10AM if I sleep in until 10AM for a while?
Basically, does it regulate sleep patterns and alternate sleep patterns?
A two hour lecture smashed into less than ten minutes! Thank You! I was freaking out during lecture earlier with all the information. Now it's all in the studying.
This is the most thorough and organized video on the endocrine system on YT. It's like you're my personal at-home tutor, but you don't eat all my cookies and drink my tea.
