  • awesome song! i love it!

  • She should take it further -where are you

  • @eatingperson what site is that?

  • Damn she's hot and has a good voice...

  • OMG 21..this girl sings like a wizened soul

  • i'd like her to be my baby so i could change her nappy every day

  • TOM AND JERRY!

  • I didn't know the lead singer from System Of A Down plays trumpet...

  • @wrestlingcircuit1995 Hahahahahaha!!

  • ok, let's make a clear objection...she has no soul...she is chopping up as she sings, you should just allow the words sing out your abdonmen...she is forcing the sound...horric. I don't think she should sing this song again...

  • @Winggirle well since you are a music expert where is your version of this song at?

  • luv dis song. not 2 b mean but she sounds like lois from family guy a little bit.

  • how old is she in this?

  • @maddie9696 Renee was 15.

  • Back to 1944

  • Happy 21st Birthday Renee!

  • Another headliner, might be better than Renee,'

    "Nikki Yanofsky".

Check out her You Tube 2009 version of"Airmail Special."

She must have loved Ella as we all did.

  • @1mommas Nikki's good but Renee has much greater feel and soul.

  • Comment removed

  • @bengalfan272008 I think its a matter of comparing apples and oranges. They're both pretty special.Nikki's style might be more extroverted but neither of them is lacking soul, that's for sure.

  • @alto75 I agree. YOU were comparing apples and oranges. However, the comment where you first did that has curiously been removed. Watch Nikki's PBS special "LIve in Montreal" and hear her searching for the proper pitch on a few of the songs. Listen through headphones. This is how I listen to every concert. I haven't found Renee searching for any notes. Nikki is good. Renee is great.

  • @bengalfan272008 I removed the comment because I realized that I didn't really say what I wanted to.What I wanted to do was respond to your comment about "soul".Soul is a very difficult thing to define but Nikki has it in spades and its not a matter of reaching for notes.Every night is different. There's some of her stuff on here from last year's Montreal Jazz Fest. that will knock your socks off.I will be watching Nikki's special on Wed. night

  • great voice, but it pisses me off when artists change the lyrics when they perform. just like both shania twain and celine dion did when they covered Shook me all night long by ACDC. STOP THAT!

  • What a talent!!!!!!

  • and i luv her, and i luv her...is you or is you ain´t my baby reneé! ;)

  • What a wonderful throwback and Paul's solo is great. I she the white Ella?

  • like this comment if you too were invited by renee olstead to be her freind on facebook

  • This is the voice that made me turn listen to every note when I first heard it a few years back. Thought it was Dinah Washington at first! Now some years later I wonder, will we ever hear THAT voice again???? The muisc is in her heart and soul!

  • kann man mal sehen was da fürn gefühl dazugehört, die dame bei usfo hat gut gesungen aber es wirkte noch etwas unbeholfen im gegensatz zu der hier

  • #USFO

  • best jazz female singer alive.

  • @1mommas renee sings good but in no way is she the best jazz female singer alive. have u heard of ella fitzgerald and billie holiday? :|

  • @soulsessions

LOL you made me laugh,I said, 'best jazz female singer alive today', you replied,

"have you ever heard of Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday"? Yes, I have and loved them both, unfortunately, they're both dead.

  • You get a voice and talent like this once in a generation.

    America's next Jr. Ella.

    Watch out for her.

    A triple threat.

ears like an elephant, cuter than a bug.

    Wait til she grows up!

  • Wow! sister are you from the 1940's ? Man she sounds as she is straight from that era.Beautiful voice.(not that i would know,I am sure not that old)

  • who knew that a one season wonder on televsion would have a voice like this!, better than jsimpsno, or lilohan. more grounded than the three mentioned!

  • wack attack

  • Another vid for historical musicologists to file. I think Rene was still a teenager here. The gal is on her way to becoming an all time female vocalist superstar. Grainy as this vid is, people should copy it, if they are interested in musical stuff. Absolutely one of a kind singer, unique.

  • what in the.......THAT was the closest I've been to crapping my pants in YEARS.

Her voice is the voice of a GOD.

  • holy crap. i never wouldve thought she'd have a voice like that. she's beautiful and she has an amazing voice to top it off!

  • WOW she has talent! That is amazing!!!!! I want her singing career to be big!

  • she's great, and it's awesome to hear the cbs orchestra play some swingin' shit

  • This young"un can blow!

  • This bitch is brilliant and I love her on "Still Standing". She's funny.

  • DAMN she has a voice....shes also the girl from secret life of an american teenager...amys best friend i didnt kno she could sing like dat

  • hot song ,, love it from Tom & Gerry

    hot voice BTW !!

  • Happy 20th Birthday Renee! June 18th

  • Anyone got bass tabs for this song?

Years from now, i hope someone hooks me up.

  • It's Improv Jazz. There are no set bass tabs. I can give you the chords though. And you can make your bass line fit with it, assuming you know your chord tones.

  • the disney company cranking out the likes of Hanna and sunny, and thier ilk, jonas bros, aint working!! these people don't have any real talent! SHE DOES! been buying her music for about 4 years now. sorry if its illegal!! but i make copies to take to nursing homes. the people there love it!! Rene is really good! I cant say enough about her!

  • sjds51

Bless you for thinking of people in that enviroment. Worked at a nursing home myself and people need their spirit lifted wherever they can get it.

  • Wow! Her voice is beautiful!

  • greate play! and greate voice! NICE!

  • I have always loved that song. Ron Fox was great at this song.

  • Her new album, Skylark, is great too.

    What a talent!

  • The trumpet player on 222 looks a little wide eyed... She's just a kid but what a voice!

  • Comment removed

  • Man, What a singer . . . .Big Hand For The Band. Paul and the boys are outstanding.

  • her voice is amazing i didn't expect that to come out of her.

  • Her voice has turned me on to a whole new type of music!!!

  • not with buble but with sinatra they have e effortless rhythm in them

  • WOOOOOOOOW, What a voice, great

  • Is it is or is it aint the coolest song? Love it!

  • A A A ++++++++++++++++++ THIS IS REAL TALENT.

So unbelievable a voice like that comes out of a 15yr old girl, so comfortable and natural, kinda reminds me of Charlotte Church.

Plus she's sooooooo gorgeous it is a hypnotic, erotic, addictive combination.

First time I saw her sing was on still standing I thought I was hallucinating or something!!!

  • holy fuck. i never knew she could sing like -this-

  • I love her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SENSACIONAL :))))

  • Renee Olstead is great - actually sounded even better the

night she did this on Letterman. I had never heard of her

before then, but solved that by buying her cd the very next day (worth every cent). Thanks jazzyjester!

  • i love this song

  • i feel bad people wont take he serious becasue she was an actress first but shes much better than amy whinehouse and duffy this is how you pay homeage to the past she is everything i want in an artist and more love renee olstead

  • i like her too. amy's album frank is so much better than Back to black. cuz her newer album is too mainstream. to me there ain't no jazz singer better than the other, all like fingerprints, unique. duffy shouldn't b on that list btw.

  • Paul is crazy on the keys man. He is underrated. If he would stop acting like a fool, he would gettin takemn more seriously. Renee is very good, not to mention sexy!!

  • Renee Olstead is THE BEST singer out there. Her voice is so pure and real. I love it!

  • can't believe thats the girl from "still standing" she is so pretty damn!!! and singing this song gives her some soul man.....shes dreamy lol i'm corny just hope she reads this lol

  • i wish i could sing like her!

  • I've been a huge fan of hers since she was 14! Why doesn't she do concerts? Wish she would put out more material. Fantastic little gal and very pretty and smart in the mix.

  • Oh, trumpet solo stunk. Should've kept on with the piano.

  • That is exactly what I thought when I heard her too. She and Micheal Buble would sound great together. They have that same jazzy style in singing. They need to start planning like soon.

  • She needs to sing a duet with michael buble!!!!!!!

  • she needs to sing a duet with michael buble!!!!!!!!!

  • She sings really great.5 ***** like the standard too..Marc Jones Pop/Jazz Vocalist....Los Angeles,U.S.A.

  • :3

    that's all i can say.

  • I love her to death!!! Keep jazz alive Renee!

  • She was only fifteen at the time !! Bloody hell!

  • A new talent!

  • LEKKER HOOR...

  • nice fuckin pipes

  • THIS is saynging and swaynging....

  • that's what i call QUALITY MUSIC, yo. her voice is sooo right for this genre... wow!!! i really like the pianist's playing style.

  • BEAUTIFUL!!BRAVO!!!

  • Amazing what a talent for such a young ladie.

  • Wow I know her from the show Still Standing. She sounds so much older than she is. Wow she's very talented.

  • She does. She has a beautiful voice..but not my style of music. And Still Standing rules

  • i love that show

  • Hard to find a song sung by a singer that doesnt own that song but still sings it amazing, but she sure did it,luv her.

  • "ninna33", the original was written and performed by Louis Jordan.

  • i thought a man sang this before i watched this

  • It´s in a Tom and Jerry movie!!!

  • Does anybody knows who's song this is....original?

    Thanks in advance

  • bb king is the original

  • "Is You Is Or Is You Ain't My Baby" is a 1944 Louis Jordan song.

In 1946 the song was sung by Tom in the Tom and Jerry cartoon "Solid Serenade".

The tune has become something of a jazz standard with versions recorded by artists including The Andrews Sisters, Bing Crosby, Nat "King" Cole, Buster Brown, Renee Olstead, Dinah Washington, Joe Williams, B.B. King and Joe Jackson.

  • Thanks a lot

    n

  • @ladymjedi You forgot Bugs Bunny. He did it in one of his cartoons. Just the title line, though. Believe it or not, that's where I knew it from.

  • Lol and I kno it from Tom and Jerry, Tom was tryin to bag this girl up and that was his song

  • @DarkGuyver718 Remember when he kept stopping to flirt and sing each time they ran around the house because the dog was chasing him? Then the dog waited and Tom turned the dog upside down and played the bass line on him without knowing it. Histerical!

  • I have no idea who this girl is, but ain't no way i would have thought she's so young. Just a great song. A bit too much pop in the end, for my taste. But the beginning is wonderful.

  • She was what..14/15 in this video and she still sounds like that...yah..jealous!!

    I don't think she butchered a classic..she did a decent job!

  • Simon you're not!!!

  • was that Weird Al playing the trumpet?

  • You've obviously not seen her these days then...

  • lol my bad i didnt mean to offend anyone.. no i havent seen her .. i was just sayin from this video (which is the first i have seen of her) i thought she wasnt all that attractive lol

  • Heh. Nah, no offence at all. Just saying that I've seen her in a more recent video and she's pretty stunning.

  • yea haha i actually just looked her up from some other vids and she is pretty fine actually! lol

  • i love her!!! lol she has a butiful voice i know all her songs by hart!

  • umm yea beautiful not butiful.... and its heart.. not hart

  • Well, most of us do. They are all remakes.

  • i love how she sounds when she scats at the end

  • Wow her voice sounds so different. She sounds much older. If her voice was a person she wouldn't look anything like Renee! She's so good! The reason she isn't famous is because she isn't a sell-out and her genre is jazz not Ashley Tidsale pop or some other shit.I first saw her in Still Standing as Lauren Miller and I had no idea she could sing until I saw an episode where she was singing.

  • i agree wholeheartedly. i also saw that episode and i was blown away. at first i didn't believe she was really singing, then i looked her up and was wowed. i got goosebumps from her voice and that only happens with the greats....

  • Yeah, I saw that episode, and had to check her out, her voice gives me goosebumps, and I almost want to cry =]

Plus she is beautiful so it is totally not fair!!! (jj, but seriously)

  • it really isn't fair;p but yeah i just wish she was more well known=] she's someone who actually has talent and not just in the recording studio either

  • There is other girls and guys with talent at this age and that like jazz..they are just not recognized in show biz. It is hard to get recognition but there are people who can do just as good as her..after all there is 7 billion people in this world.

  • Granted, there are 7 billion people in this

world, but we are recogognizing this girl with

    this talent!

  • Another sepremely talented young singer is...

Pempengco. Listen to her on youtube.

  • Well I'm sure that's true but we're focusing on THIS girl.

  • she has a voice time 4got.and i love jazz cause of this gurl....stunning

  • I love her..She's young and talented.

  • lol the dude playing the keyboard

  • That Keyboard players is David Letterman's BandLeader Paul Shaffer. Who is the Center of the universe of All Musicianship in the Universe. (Just ask HIM) Although talented, he does feels he needs to play...with all the "top." Acts...trying to one up David Foster on this one....jus an opionion

  • hahahahah your so right. what an airhead hahahah

  • It's very rare nowadays to find singers willling to perform this type of music esp at her age....and wow, she does it so effortlessly well. Thanks Renee

  • I love her voice and she's beautiful but I don't care for the hair style in this. I hope she isn't going to be the type that keeps messing with her hair all the time. She has such incredible natural beauty, she should keep it real :-)

  • Ya know, its funny, I didn't hear her hair sing a single note......

  • lol welcome to the modern age where video let's us see what we hear. But it's nice to know you ignored the rest of my comment and pinpointed the negative.

  • I'm sorry, jus try'to be "cheeky." I agree, she is stunning talent, her cheekbones add polite innocent sexiness. I close my eyes and listen anyway...isn't she gifted well beyond her young years. Thanks for the modern age of where we can see talent, years past before would be the epidimy of popularity to get exposure. Peace.

  • I only mentioned her hair, because I worry about what I consider the "Marilyn Monroe Syndrome". Marilyn was very beautiful, yet insecure and unhappy, and it showed in her appearance for years. Yet,people were shocked when she died from an 'overdose'? When I see a pretty girl like Renee start changing her looks,I worry. Maybe she's just trying to look 'grown-up' or maybe it's something deeper. Only she knows. Peace, bro.

  • Damn she can sing....I never knew, i thought she was just the cute chick from Still Standing

  • She is more singer than actor.

  • Yeah I realize that after hearing her sing. She is good in Still Standing but, damn I heard her songs and I cant get her voice out of my head...she is so full of soul, at such a young age. Its good to see shes taking on real challenges with her talent other than wasting it on pop garbage.

  • She has CD with very good songs, called "renee olstead".All from the Jazz, You may like that.

  • the best!

  • i love her.

  • I also like the one when Lauren pretends to be depressed, even though she really is to get clothes.

  • Cool! I like all still standings!
