  • Wow... and I was there that night... is my whole life on the internet? Bobby Evans, Mary Beth Cunningham; the announcer was Donna Drewes... back in the day. Thank you very much! -L.

  • I Believe This Was A Video Clip Of WNET-TV's Sign-Off Video ID From 1984.

  • What show is Working Women?

  • that song is from magic magic magic episode the school dance episode of 1985.

  • sniff ~ that was beautiful

  • Very Depressing!!

  • can you upload the 1984 wnet sign on?

  • From :33 to :37 a train races a boat.

  • For those wondering, the sign-off music was an orchestral rendition of Debussy's "Reverie."

  • so many times I saw that sign off living in Long Branch NJ.

Thanks, I miss the old days

  • Only two years after this, the current "Voice of Thirteen," Tom Stewart, did a sign-off to this film/video, also crediting the production staff.

  • And in-between, another V/O, Roger Rathburn, did likewise.

  • i just posted one from 1980

  • I love how Donna Drews gives namechecks of all the continuity team here.

  • What does "continuity" mean?

  • Continuity (in broadcasting) means on-air announcements, messages, promos, trails, station IDs that surround radio/television programmes.

  • Interesting. FYI -- judging from the 2006 sign-on clip -- the technical city of license is still Newark NJ, though the station IDs of both WNET and sister WLIW often feature the New York 'super'.

  • Can somebody upload the 1989 logo? I really haven't seen this for years now.

  • Thank god everything (here in the NY Metro Area; DMA #1) is mostly 24 hours now.

  • Although WNET is off the air from 3 A.M. to 5 A.M. on Sunday night/Monday morning, so those color-bars aficionados can relax.

  • Hooray, pantone!

  • hey i also love the color bars it helps me sleep...

  • @daminmancejin Cool, never heard anyone express that before.. Very interesting..

  • Same here. I remember this after watching Cinema Thirteen. In this particular package notice the fancy effects fading to black--cutting edge for 1984. But I will echo goriajk's sentiment. Wonder what became of Donna Drews, though?

  • It's more a wipe than a fade here.

  • That's what I'm wondering. Also, likewise with Karen Dahle, who was an NBC staff announcer out of New York before the network ended the 24h/7d booth announcer positions in the '90's.

  • Nice to see this classic sign off from one of this nation's great TV stations. Thanks
