  • love johnny cash,,,nuff said,,,

  • i just start to cry when i hear this song ;') Thanks Johnny

  • All of Johnny Cash's renditions of songs are better then the original in my opinion. To all the idiots who say that this song should not have been re-done by Johnny.....ALL artists consider it a complete honor when Johnny Cash re-does your song. He re-did Nine Inch Nails "Hurt" and Trent Reznor said that the song was no longer his, and that Johnny Cash mastered it. Mr. Cash is a true legend, if you disrespect him, you have no concept of good music.

  • Someone said the original was better. Who did the original? Johnny Cash's version is very good, if ya ask me.

  • Truly not an "R" song.

  • the original is way better this song should never be redone

  • A nice tribute to a great country musician. Miss this guy!!!

  • To think that Red Dead version is better is OK, but that's meant to be dramatic, this is just a man giving thanks, no complaining or need for drama, like a real man.

  • i think william elliots version is better, but i really really really love johnny .

  • I love johnny cash

  • Red Dead Redemption, must be a classic.

  • oh bury me not on the lone prairie is the song from RDR when john marston gets murdered dumbasses

  • why should they feel shame its a really good game

  • shame on you all if only Red Dead Redemption brought you here!!!

  • @dampie Why shame on them guy? you have no idea the depth of the RDR game if youve never played it. what im saying is dont pass judgement. we are in no posistion to judge anyone. we all have our flaws

  • @dampie Who cares what brought us to listen to this?? As long as we're listening to it, is all that matters.

  • @dampie so long as people are getting some exposure to Cash it's no bother to me. Video Games are a legitimate way to find good music, which is exactly what happened here.

  • And the cowboys now, as they roam the plain,

For they marked the spot, where his bones were lain,

Fling a handful of roses over his grave,

And say a prayer to God, his soul to save...

He didn't finish the song... That's actually my favorite line.

  • R.i.p johnny cash I love you -bows head-

  • johnny cash johnny marston is the one who brought me here

  • Oh my gosh! Elvis Presley met Johnny Cash!?

  • @Punisherfan123 Lol fail!

  • lol I didnt know this song was in RDR.

  • Rest in peace, Johnny. You are the definitive country star, and I seldom have seen a singer with as much soul as you.

  • RED DEAD REDEMPTIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!!!!!!!

  • i agree this version is better than the one on the game but its johnny cas what do u expect he could make rap sound good

  • red dead is a good game and it make me happy it brings kid to johnny cash

  • well nuthin to say other that fuck ya rockstar i think we have reached the farthest you could get in the gaming industry with rdr

  • I love Red Dead Redemption!!!

  • just pure peace listening to this thanks for the recommendation John Marston

  • @roberthowcroft .... ill drink to that!

  • Damn, I'm finding a new Johnny Cash song every day.

  • red dead wooot

  • I knew about this song long before I ever got Red Dead Redemption. It is off of Cash's first American Recordings album, which I first had on cassette in the mid 90s, and which I now have on CD. Frankly, I prefer this version to the one that is in the game. RIP Johnny Cash.

  • this sounds like a prayer with a subtle guitar in the background

  • I began enjoying singing along then performing abo 1965 with Johnny Cash. By 1969 I knew all his songs then...a rather large performance 1970, then a accident in traffic, a twist of fates. I love greatly June & Johnny especially, how they accoutremented them-selves always,a beautiful closing albums especially much respectful Christian tunes, real teacher-ballads about life, as they did. These songs are really about all of us! All of our lives wishes dreams desires hopes faiths dreads loves. RIP

  • there's this and "If" by Kipling that i'm going to burn in my son's little brain before he becomes a man.

  • @kris10ish William Elliot Whitmore

  • Red Dead Redemption did NOT brought me here.. I just happened to worship Johnny Cash. RIP Man in Black

  • Red Dead Redemption brought me here

  • @finalfantasymovies Like most of us haha Red Dead Redemption!

  • @finalfantasymovies Amazing game I must agree but I was a fan of Johnny Cash first and you're lucky it's brought you to his stuff! You have to check the rest of it out now!

On a side note, would love to hear more of Ashtar Command!

  • @finalfantasymovies wow you too :)

  • @finalfantasymovies Red Dead brought me here too, lol

  • @finalfantasymovies Haha same here!

  • @finalfantasymovies

  • @irob07876 yep it's way better than this version..also if i love johnny cash i have to admit that

  • @finalfantasymovies yeah me too ^_^

  • @BigdogWitBigdog what?!

  • sweet

  • thank the lord this version wasn't in RDR I don't even feel sad.

  • @farsight113 , are you meant to be sad ?

  • they should really put this in RDR

  • @SuperCatzmeow they did

  • @australianforlife i know they did but jcs version !

  • @australianforlife it was a different person singing it for the version in the game

  • @austin7956 yeah it was william somethig in red dead redemption

  • nah i dont think it would make you have that sad feeling as it did in rdr

  • both song have good side and a bad side first this song he sings it strat but it dosent feel like the origanal (just saying) but the origanal is good but the singer sounds like hes about to have a heart attack he sings liked bury........me........nooooottt....

  • I want the tabs to his guitar. The song/ballad/story/poem whatever it's calld is in the tyle of the "Talking guitar blues" Something possibly do, coz I can't sing(:

  • A legend who will be missed

  • Wish they'd used this version in RDR.

  • Ahmen.

  • i hate 2 more people today

  • Well, the part he speaks through was written by Roy Rogers. The part he sings is "Bury Me Not" and goes back to the 1800's. But Johnny Cash's version is still the best.

  • Rest in Peace Johnny Cash

  • Great to hear J.C.'s version of this mournful classic. I took a shot at doing this on my uploaded YT video, but Johnnie's version is plaintively more authentic. Many thanks...and five plus stars. Cordially, John

  • rong song
