  • Hey Steve, I want to say first that my experiences with Big Apple Herp has been pleasant and I am more then satisfied with your service. I have purchased this Zoo Med Powersun from you guys 8/17/11 and within that period of time the bulb flickered alot and eventually it wasnt operable in anyway. I also bought the Zoo Med deep dome with stand..awesome product. My question is how do I get the warranty honored? Through BAH or Zoo Med? Thanks for your reply Steve

  • @BLown05Navigator ZooMed requires all warranty issues on this bulb to be handled directly through them. They are very good about handling the warranty.

  • Omg fuck man I hope my baby bearde dragon has mbd ;(

  • A how can u tell the powersun bulb has uvb and i got my from ebay

  • @iguanasrule1 You can't, it could be used and have no UV. This is something so important to your reptile that you never want to purchase it from a non-legitimate source.

  • Thank you for this great video. Is it OK to use a big dome with the ceramic top from Home Depot or Walmart ? Ho may months can I keep this bulb if the Lizard is burmating/hibernating over the winter time ?

  • @txrepgirl This bulb is ONLY warrantied by Zoo Med in their Extra Deep Dome which is located in the May We Recommend section on the page that we sell the Powersun Bulb. If you use a Walmart dome you will lose the warranty.

  • @BigApplePetSupply. Thank you for your reply. I understand.

  • I just ordered the 100 watt version, but i heard some people say that the new version of the powersun bulbs dont provide as much UVB as they did before in the past. Now i dont know if this is true but ive heard it from a few people, they also said that the 10.0 compact emits more UVB then the powersun of which i was confused about since the powersun should produce a very good deal of UVB.

  • are these bulbs any good for russian tortoises?they are housed in a tortoise table. thanks

  • @SCM100100 Sure, these and the Sunforce bulbs are very good for UV production.

  • Can a 100w be placed in a regular 8.5 inch fixture?

  • @ThatReptileDude No, but you could use a mini-deep dome which we sell on our website.

  • @BigApplePetSupply Or could I put it in a regular fixture but hang it like in the video?

  • Want to thank you Steve for this nicely detailed video on the powersun MVB. I have been skeptical about buying these bulbs..but with the right setup/installation these bulbs are far superior to the fluorescent. I just got done pricing the powersun 160 watt, regular lamp holder and deep dome and I am surprised to say I will be saving over $40 compared Drs F/S that I been shopping with quite sometime. I plan to make my first sale with you guys tomorrow and I know I will be satisfied!!

  • @BLown05Navigator Thanks, just to let you know our Sunforce Bulbs came in yesterday and should be up on our website for sale by Thursday August 18.

  • @BigApplePetSupply Thank you for the heads up!! I already placed my order Wednesday morning..I am pleased since discovering b.a.h! I already rcvd my items which were ordered yesterday..after setting up the powersun for an hour..my 9mth old bearded dragon is showing frenzy eating habits and she seems quite content right now. I am delighted. I am curious if you recommend the Sunforce MVB's over others you carry? I know pricing is more pratical..My conerns are performance and longevity.

  • @BLown05Navigator I would recommend you watch the Sunforce video as we do testing in the video which will clue you in as to the differences of these bulbs. Both brands are quality units.

  • Why are they so expensive??? I mean almost 80$ for a reptile bulb is just insane! i want to buy one for my monitor lizard but I just dont have the money for one bulb:( I have to stick with the basking bulb because its affordable...

  • @narutofroever We agree which is why we discount the bulbs almost 40% at Big Apple Pet Supply. Since we ship to everywhere it means that everyone can get great discounts on these bulbs. Just click the link below the video. We also have other lower cost (our brand) mercury vapor bulbs.

  • @BigApplePetSupply ok thanks! I just might order some stuff off of the website!

  • @narutofroever just a heads up..BigAppleHerpdotcom currently has these bulbs priced at $47-$49..thats $10-$40 cheaper then larger pet store chains..check out info link above.

  • @BBoys315 No, you'll want to purchase the extra deep domes that are specially made for them. There is a video on those on our website as well. Note that we sell the Powersun at about 30 to 40% less expensive than the average pet store. As well, we also have our own brand if you are price sensitive.

  • do ya have to use a dome what is the good points/bad points in using a dome

  • Do you think that a 100 watt would be ok in a zoo med mini deep dome? If i want to place it on top of the screen.

  • @Squwigy Absolutely, see the video on the mini domes where we explain this.

  • Isnt it true that the bulbs used for reptiles can give off mercury in the air which is bad for anyone in the room. Not sure ive this is true but have heard this and that those bulbs that save energy do to .

  • @shampoo02 Absolutely unfounded information... mercury vapor bulbs do NOT give off mercury into the air. In fact, they are 100% sealed and if for any reason the seal was broken they wouldn't even ignite. We would be curious as to where you "heard" this because we hope no one is putting this false information on the internet.

  • thx...thats what i'm looking for. very informative.

  • so il get a night light adn keep the powersun on for like 10-12 hours a day right

  • so what do u use at night or does that stay on 2/47 cuz doesnt it replace all 3 bulbs u need ?

  • @KUNGFUTYLER Anything that produces light you would only want running during the day as to not disturb the day/night cycle of your reptile.

  • steve pacman?

  • how hot does a 100 watt mv bulb get....

and how hot does a 160 watt bulb get

  • @matt4ambz 100 watt eould get it up too around 100-110 so its good for Bearded Dragons

  • thanks!
