  • I saw this on Netflix. I watched this video. I watched the entire series!

    Worth every minute.

  • Aaron Sorkin.

  • This show, as much as I wanted it to be great, did suck. It was Aaron Sorkin v. His Haters and the Religious Right - when it should have been Aaron Sorkin uses his experience to write something great. this scene was beautiful though.

  • that shite was awesome,,,!!!!!!!

  • Yeah they have the same basic idea. Not a similar style of comedy at all. Both are very very good.

  • I want the entire transcript of Wes' speech. Without the other characters' words.

  • This series in my opinion was the best thing ever to grace my tv

  • “The bottom line here is that '30 Rock' is a show in which hilarious comedians play mediocre ones. 'Studio 60' was the exact opposite.”

"'The West Wing,' a paragon of snappy-pattered, makes-you-feel-smart-just-for-watching television."

I've just connected the dots and can now spend less time wondering why I don't love The Social Network like so many others.

  • The problem with this show was the confusion caused by being promoted around the same time as 30 rock. Judging by the comments below mine that confusion is still here years later. Google "studio 60 comedy".

  • i wish something like that would happen on t.v.

  • These are two completely different kinds of shows, but similar settings. Studio 60 is a drama, and 30 Rock is a comedy. I'm an American who finds 99% of TV ignorant pap catering to the lowest common denominator, but I love 30 Rock - laugh-out-loud hilarious. I'm just getting into Studio 60, which is not funny (and not intended to be). My 2c.

  • bellissimo...

  • My entire Film class watched this clip in class and EVERYONE had GOOSEBUMPS after watching this intro...Incredibly INTENSE and True and right when that title card comes in WOW!!!! You have to catch your breath!!!

  • Best speeh about TV ever. Aaron Sorkin deserves an award for writing that.

  • great show, american viewers are idiots, they prefer to watch 30rock than this, but even NBC is more idiot, they could have sold the protuction to HBO and the show would have been a huge success, money to HBO + money to NBC + satisfied viewers

  • That is prob. the smartest comment I have ever read. I completely agree with you.

  • @jackiechiles1 First, 30 Rock is a terrific show, granted its easier to watch, but it's also funnier. I wish both shows could exist, but when this show started winding down it deserved to get cancelled. It started well and the last 5 or 6 episodes were terrible. 30 rock got better and better.

Second, NBC is more idiot? what? and its a Production, not a protuction.

  • @SockMonkey007 I'll agree that much of the middle of the season wasn't very good. The last 5 or so episodes, which only aired much later on, were really good, though. However, I disagree that 30 Rock is a 'terrific show.' I've tried to watch some episodes, and there's some funny in them, true... but I can't stand Tracy Morgan. His character is just the complete antithesis of comedy to me, that I can't stand to watch that show.

  • @jackiechiles1

I know you wrote this two years ago, but don't give me that. The Studio 60 sketches we saw were terrible, uninspired and brought down the whole show. 30 Rock played the same types of sketches for "stylistic suck" - they were never intended to be good in the first place.

That, and Studio 60 was a long author tract on the part of Aaron Sorkin insulting his ex-girlfriend Kristin Chenoweth. Whether it was on HBO or not didn't matter - Studio 60 sucked.

  • @jackiechiles1 they did the same with heroes... NBC BLOWS

  • i believe there's enough crap to watch, so if you don't like it because it's too complex, or at least it seems so, then don't watch it and don't waste your time, or any other's time

  • Not sure if this was mentioned on this thread but you do realize that the content of this scene is exactly why Studio 60 never made it. The feedback was always "It's too over my head" I for one have stopped watching all network shows but lost. Only news is World News tonight-feels great...you wouldn't believe the books you get time to read!

  • Bull crap. None of the criticism of studio 60 had anything to do with it being too smart. Using big words is not smart. Referencing obscure historical facts is not smart. Look past all the fast paced dialogue and you are left with is a dumb show that appeals to the narcissism of a select few who believe that they are smart for understanding it.

  • Basically your comment is that they use humor that requires more knowledge but yet is not smart. What do you define as smart? Ironic, a show about putting out quality TV that nearly gets cancelled gets cancelled. I think the links to actual events on the West Wing are brilliant even though many people are highly critical of it. The John Wells and Darren Wells thing was brilliant. Oops, forgot, show is not smart so I should not have said brilliant. Clever? no implies smartness.

  • Fudd, can you give me the right adjetive, oops, big word, not smart, should of just said word, but to make sure that it was smart I did spell it wrong.

  • I would define smart TV as something that challenges viewers; not something that constantly pats itself on the back for being smart without you know.. being smart! Any writer with internet access can pull up random facts(which Sorkin often gets wrong amusingly enough), random trivia does not make a television show smart.

This show spent it's entire run constantly telling us how smart and hip it was, but it never deliviered.

  • The show was clever,Judd Hirshes tirade is one of the best moments in T.V ever! Ok, I hear you about Sorkin being an ass. Heard all the complaints about him and his ego, but the show kept me engaged and it is hard to keep me engaged with most of the crap on T.V. I think it does challenge being that much of it is satire on the crap that is on T.V. Sorkin himself seems like overall a pretty nice guy even though he is an ass.

  • So what is an example of a television show that you consider to be smart? Rome? Dexter? Or are you a subscriber to the idea that "It's Always Sunny in Philedelphia" is intelligent?

What show does FugityFudd consider to be a smart show? In fact, list a couple.

I only ask because I do think Studio Sixty was clever and smart, and you don't seem like the usual youtube moron, so I'm curious.

  • Se potete, scaricate con eMule l'intera serie. Molto interessante.

  • "That remote in your hand is a crackpipe..." Truer words have never been spoken on a television show.

  • oh my god, that was incredible. i got chills.

  • This reminds me of that movie "Network"

  • a movie which is actually refrenced in this episode as a reporter compares wes medell speech to a work by the writer of network, maybe director not sure sorry

  • Best opening to any show ever.

  • I never get tired of watching that scene.

  • ehhhHHHH gran telefilm.
