hey, impossible move. ginoongkamote I particularly like the end =P Could you believe that I trained enough to begin dunking! I just used the a real training routine at 50 inch vertical (dot) com and made it in only 1 and a half month!
Hey guys, have anyone tried the nba training program for dunking and shooting? Even Kobe, Ray Allen and Gilbert Arenas have used it before. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, take a look at snipurl[dot]com/nbatraining
WOW Den vs LAL in 1985 and what will happend this time? Den vs Lal or vs Hou, but denver will make it to the championship and win there first championship ever!
The reason given for his injury was incorrect. Early in the 3rd qtr of game 4, English and Abdul-Jabbar scrambled for a rebound. Kareem got to it first, then unleashed those flailing elbows he was sometimes infamous for. Alex raised his hands instinctively to protect his face, but caught the elbow on top of his right hand.
Man, Magic's passes weren't just fancy, they were efficient. He doesn't take any dribbles he just sees the cutter (and sometimes doesn't have to) and makes the right pass. I wish teams would run fast breaks with such discipline these days.
If English didn't go down, and if Natt didn't go out in game 4, the Nuggets might have pulled off the upset. The Lakers were a little vulnerable around 85 and 86 before shoving it into overdrive in 87 and 88.
I'd say the Lakes were pretty vulnerable in 1988. They had to go the full 7 vs. Utah, then the full 7 vs. Dallas, and then were down 3-2 to the Pistons in the Finals before taking the final 2 games at home (by 1 point and 3 points respectively).
@Cabbageboy316: That's right. Utah should have beaten them, and the Pistons should have as well. Those late-80's Laker teams also got lucky that the 86 Rockets imploded. That team would have given them hell the rest of the decade.
I mentioned this in the 1987 thread, but to be honest I don't think the Lakers had to play much of anyone in the 80s. Everyone points to them playing Boston, Philly, or Detroit in the Finals, but no one mentions the fact that the West was overall really lousy for most of the 80s. By the early 90s the Blazers were an excellent team, the Spurs had Robinson, the Suns had improved, the Jazz improved under Sloan, and the Rockets got it going again. The West was loaded in the 1990s.
@a7b7c78 Should've doesn't count when you get waxed in a Gm7 situation on the road. Jazz weren't ready for prime time. Detroit could've, but they were also down by 15 in Gm7 and the 3 pt margin reflects a close-but-no-cigar comeback attempt.
@Cabbageboy316 I don't think they were vulnerable, they just had a lot of mileage under Pat, especially w/ his 3 hr practices. He ground them down in the 89 and 90 seasons as well. The 88 Lakers won those series where their opponents were lacking - experience dept, clutch situations, strong HCA. They did struggle on the road for most of that season, however.
Am I alone in this or did any of ya'll notice dat Dan Issel has some teeth missing?

It would have been interesting to see how that Denver team could have matched up against the Celtics.
Being a Western Conference NBA team fan in the 1980s was not easy- it was Lakers, Rockets, or bust.

Run and Gun!!! I hate the generic b.s. half-court game in today's offenses!! These two teams played the way the game was suppose to be played!!!

No team in the West was going to stop the Lakers from getting back to the NBA Finals in 1985

@ErikS1975FreeState If you were a fan of any other West team that year, it was an almost hopeless feeling.

Love the vid as Alex was my fav 80's NBAer.

Turned out to be a compound fracture.

The Lakers played D though, so they would have won.

Alex English was a BEAST in his playing time. If he was healthy in that series, it would have been a game 7 or an upset.
