He's an intellectual with great artistic skills and an activist of freedom of speech.

Even though his material seems to be leaning towards borderline insanity and total absurdism, he knows exactly what he's doing to make you see things from a different perspective. I've been a fan since day 1.

Hmm, om eerlijk te zijn hij mist zijn in deze engelse optredens zijn 'gekheid' om het nog mooit uit te drukken. Hij is niet grof genoeg, en speelt minder met de taal en accent. Wat te begrijpen is natuurlijk, het is z'n moedertaal niet.

For you english blokes,Hans is worth alot more in his own language, just because he can't play with the language like he does with his own language, dutch. I dont wanto sound cocky,but you will never exp his genious rudness and poetic soul unless you speak dutch

Dutch comedy, or 'cabaret' is hybrid of theatre and stand-up comedy.

Comedians definitely don't get away with simply standing on a stage cracking a jokes in the Netherlands.

"Dutch comedy" doesn't quite cut it. It's something called Cabaret, and dutch cabaret is another catergory on its own. Which is a lot more than what people usually label as stand-up comedy.

And I agree with Davemech. There are a lot of good cabaretiers, new and old-school. Each and everyone with his/her own style. I really hope people outside the NL will enjoy it ;D

this is not dutch humor in particular. Dutch comedians all have great differences in the way they perform and the okes they write. You can't judge all dutch humor from 1 guy :) You either hate or love Hans Teeuwen. It's odd humor ;p

I've seen him live in London twice (I was in the front row at this show) and I can assure you that this particular Dutchman made me laugh myself silly.
