  • Can u use vanilla extract?

  • are you gay

  • I just use baking soda.

  • why you using salt?

  • Search words like (Table Salt Poison) to see that table salt is unnatural and chemical, and causes health problems. And considering there is no shortage of sea salt, why use poison?

For a thick, smooth paste alternative, you can also cook water and Corn Starch in a pan, and use [less] Baking Soda which can be abrasive to teeth. Store larger quantities in fridge or even freezer until needed. :)

  • I'd like to add a few tips.. First, glycerin is good, but vegetable glycerine is much healthier. You can find it at most heath food stores. It's a bit pricier than regular glycerine, but it's all natural. Second, Instead of essential oils, try extracts. They are much easier on the digestive system. Mint extract is my favorite. Finally, baking soda by nature is very salty. Adding salt is going to make it worse. Instead of salt, add a teaspoon of 80+ proof alcohol, like vodka as a preservative.

  • You can use peppermint oil too - the kind you bake with...

  • thanks

  • Glycerine is a sugar and coats the teeth, and prevents uptake of minerals, which the teeth do throughout life.

  • Also, you can use 3 parts baking soda and 1 part salt, take a little out and add a drop or two of silver water, then brush. This mixture is incredibly good for the gums - in fact, you should push it into the gums. Very healthy and cleans the teeth nicely! Add a tiny bit of tea tree oil, also, if you are having gum problems.

  • Great idea although I much prefer not purchasing from Walmart.

  • And, most importantly, NO FLUORIDE!

  • there is aluminum in the aluminum free baking soda from Arm n hammer, have to get stuff from the health food store to be real,

  • If you want to really make this good for your teeth in an abtimicrobial way add a teaspoon of xylitol. I would dissolve it first in a little hot water before adding to the mix. Lots of research on xylitol for antimicrobial effects in oral care.

It can stop cavities dead in their tracks.

  • @Arrowwind09 xylitol may be a good antimicrobial, but it's banned in other countries because it's dangerous and cancer-causing. I wouldn't touch it.

  • Almost all essential oils are for internal use. Some may put "not for interna"l use on the bottle because they don't want to be libel for incorrect use. You can over do on the stuff or put it in the wrong place and have a strong reaction but its not lethal. Fear not if it is a good essential oil product without weird addditives and especially if it is a common flavoring like mint or medicinal like ecualyptus.

  • Thanks

    abeldanger(dot)net

  • I LOVE the wife's lil inserts of info, made me laugh :) thank you

  • Can You Eat This Toothpaste? I Hate Brushing My Teeth Worrying xD Lol

  • It tastes like 1 part salt is WAY too much, but i the paste doesn't last if i do not add the salt

  • with essential oils use moderately in the rule of thumb , and do your research on these highly potent oils... peppermint, tea-tree etc can be taken internally in small doses and dilute in a carrier as they are highly concentrated... if you are pregnant or have a specific condition, check with a qualified aromatherapist 1st before using or ingesting... otherwise, safe in small doses..:)

  • What kind of glycerin are you using? I'm reading about it and apparently it's not that great for your mouth lol

  • it just helped me a bit

  • The Egyptians (Kemites) made toothpaste from powdered pumice stone and strong wine vinegar that they brushed onto a chew stick. This was much different from the early Roman toothpaste that was made from human URINE(!), which the Romans also used as a mouth wash. In fact, Roman physicians around 100 AD claimed that brushing with urine whitened teeth and fixed them more firmly in the sockets. And wealthy Roman women paid dearly for foreign urine, especially Portuguese urine. yall people nasty!!!

  • @RealSelfReliance

    have you tried it yet?

  • watch and learn..no need for those commercial harmful ingredients....besides the glycerin..this is great..

  • Comment removed

  • This video terrorized me.

  • how about substituting cinnamon extract or peppermint extract in the place of the toxic "essential oil"?

  • All you dum asses brushing your teeth you decay the even more faster this is why dont belive me check yourself tell every 1 Fluoride used by Nazis to sterilize inmates and make them docile. Fluoride a key dumbing down ingredient of Prozac and Sarin nerve gas -- poisons of choice for tyrant rats.

  • Thanks for posting this. I'm wondering if hydrogen peroxide could be safely brought into the mix. I know that hydrogen peroxide is used for gum care instead of store-bought mouthwash (and it is more effective from my experience).

  • how is this self reliant if you buying all the ingredients already manufactured? o.o

  • Want to find out how to Shine Your Teeth At Home Instantly ?

Check us out for more info

    RemoveWisdomTeeth*net

    Replace * with a .

  • Yep, go with doTERRA oils if you want to ingest them. Others just are safe for internal use.

  • My is to salty? (used whole bottle of extract) Any help?

  • walmarts cheap as hell and other wise ud have to goto 3 different stores to get that stuff 5 in my case i live on a small island but we get walmart!!!

  • that's great and thank you for posting this, but what's with the MalWart Worship?

  • same question with @skittlesfirehawk............how long will it last?

  • I hear that glycerine is what makes your gums soft or loose, so I avoid it.

  • how long will this last for?can you use a recycled toothpaste tube to keep it in?

  • Can't wait to try this!!!

  • Who cares where he shops , he is encouraging self-reliance.

  • Too bad he shops at Walmart... sad to hear that.

  • What's with the bee hive frame on the counter?

  • @melroy : think geek dot com already did bacon toothpast , cup cake to :D

  • That was awesome!! Good Job!

  • Great idea! Awesome and all natural. The only problem I have with it is the essential oil. From here I can tell it's Aura Cacia; if you look on the back, the label says, "Not for internal use."

  • @pinkch

That's because it's NOT for internal use. Some essential oils are synthenic you need a PURE ORGANIC oil.

  • @pinkchuks

regular toothpaste should not be swallowed, but you already know that

  • @pinkchuks dont swallow it

  • @pinkchuks Eucalyptus oil is dangerous when ingested in small amounts but in tiny amounts I believe it can be used - as in a drop or 2 only.

  • Where do you get tht eucalyptus oil from

  • You no wat else you can buy at walmart toothpaste! Hell u can buy some at the dollar store 2 lol jk jk jk my mom uses it but a bit dif it actully works really good

  • welcome to real ugly person dot com ~

  • i hate you

  • So if I put bacon grease insted of eucalyptice or cinnamin I make bacon toothpase?

  • @imelroy bacon toothpaste? mind = blown

  • That is shitty toothpaste. It is all watery and has no additive benefits, such as sensitivity reduction or fluoride or antibacterial/antigingivitis medications in it.

  • @1dgg9h4dr6ppp8 you won't mess up your teeth with this stuff

  • There are two grades of glycerin: food grade glycerin and non-food grade glycerin. Food grade glycerin, as the name implies, is edible, and it's used in candy making and other confectionery. Cake decorating and wine making supply shops carry food grade glycerin.

  • I like you page 22 Websites To Help You Become More Self Reliant I added it to My Search is Over dot com Useful Sites.

  • how about trying xylitol for taste - google it re teeth

  • Great video but not sure about eucalyptus oil for internal use. I think there was some evidence eucalyptus oil is toxic if you consume more than a tiny bit. Peppermint and mint and other flavors are safe. Might want to research it some more.

  • Make sure you get enough calcium if you don't get enough supplementing with Tums or the store-brand equivalent can help strengthen teeth in just 2 weeks make sure you chew a half a tab at a time and no more than two tabs a day spread over the day and rush your teeth well first thing in the morning and just before bed +after meals- get a waterpik to clean between teeth(really spray out gums at the full speed setting don't worry about bleeding rinse with a baking soda rinse followed by water).

  • i read in a study done by university of calgary students that glycerince stops teeth from rebuilding themselves-- dont know if its true but they say not to add glycerine -

also, baking soda and salt strip the teeth of enamel - yikes! my hippy sister used baking soda for years, and she hardly has any enamel on her teeth -and shes a complete health nut ! sorry to be the messenger of bad news

  • @yellowbootsandsnowsh it all depends on how sensitive your teeth are & if your enamel is strong in the first place, if your enamel is strong & your teeth aren't super sensitive then using baking soda is fine, but if you enamel is weak & you're teeth are sensitive then baking soda isn't right for you. so really it depends on the person's teeth.

  • I have been thinking that if you use a empty Toothpaste tube, cut the end and wash it out , fill it and bend the end over and over as needed. this way you can close the screw cap and reuse it over and over.

  • @Grace9918 Or you can keep and clean out an old body wash container or the like. Fill it with a food or animal medicine syringe (if required) and then you have a permanent squeeze container that should make it easy to control the amount squeezed out.

  • I think it should be said that baking soda and salt break dental work. If you have mercury amalgams, it might be better to just stick with water until you get them removed. This is entirely a matter of opinion though.

  • great video!

  • Isn't eucalyptus oil poisonous? please check that.

  • @ginny0015: Yes and no. The thing is that eucalyptus leave must be eaten in large amount for it to result in a toxic event. As for the oil it can be very toxic if it is “360% Pure” for example 1 oz can prove fatal to a 160 lb man, but keep in mind that most oils sold over the counter are not pure and are diluted. Also keep in mind that this tree has many medicinal and spiritual benefits. Keep in mind that toxicity can apply to anything .......

  • @4chango Thanks!

  • Isn't eucalyptus oil poisonous? please check that.

  • how long is the shelf life of the toothpaste? ( if I it wrong, its because I used google translator)

  • @dimzaiboom365 I meant (if I >SAID< it wrong, its because I used google translator)

  • Alternately, you can dip your wet toothbrush in baking soda and brush your teeth with that. I've been doing that for a few months, and it works great.

  • I will try this!

  • When I was younger my grandmother taught us to use just the mix of baking soda and salt to brush our teeth. But after a few days it would hurt my gums (abrasiveness) does the glycerin prevent that? or maybe I was brushing too hard. i will try again. many children eat their toothpaste and the flouride can be dangerous.

  • does this have an expiration date?....

  • U need to make MORE vids!!!! This one is super gr8!!!

  • i dont like the idea of too much baking soda so ill just stick with rembrandt toothpaste

  • heheh Bart?

  • u have beeswx1?!?aglkosijfa;

  • do u have to put glycerin

  • I fear that if we all start making our own toothpaste they will start putting fluoride in our baking soda. I hate the corporation with a passion.

  • @HitlerWasRight2010: Too late, most baking sodas already have aluminum waste. There is a healthier recipe on my channel in the comment section.

  • I have tried to make toothpaste by using soda before, but the problem is that it tastes way too salty. Any idea to fix that?

  • @RunicAxe less salt!!!

  • @RunicAxe: I placed a naturopathic recipe for toothpaste on my channel in the comment section. It will remain posted for a few weeks only.

  • way better

  • are those bees in the backround???

  • 6 people who don't brush their teeth...

  • i think i read somewhere that it is not good to use baking soda on your teeth every day... that it was bad for the enamel or something. can anyone confirm this? because i'm not sure when or where i read it, so it could be BS.

btw, mad props for the DIY. :)

  • Bart is a cutie!! Thanx guys for making this!! I'm looking forward to seeing more vids from you!!

  • thank you!! I did this and I absolutely love it.. so much better than the silent killer fluoride!

  • it says not to ingest essential oil!

  • @fraserarts99 you can substitute with the peppermint extract you find in the baking isle at most stores. its worked really nicely for me

  • Thanks a lot! I just moved to South America and there is nothing natural in sight! I'm sure going to make this! :)

  • I love the annotations. Not only are they helpful, but they're hilarious as well. 'burn your face off with cinnamon' XD

  • Cool video, cool channel!!! From, Jason and Pia (Welovesuperfoods website)

  • just use salt!

  • I read this exact original recipe was from 1997, and it has been revised since then.

I think the salt should be drastically reduced, and the glycerin slightly added.

I'm currently using 1tsp salt for half a cup of soda, (that's 1:25 ratio) - would be great to hear any feedback on this.

  • Funny when we were kids and dirt poor we sometimes had to use baking soda and salt for toothpbaste when the toothpaste ran out. We just put some of each into the palm of our hand and dabbed the wet toothpaste into it, then brushed. Wasnt exactly a pleasant exper with the baking soda mouth feel but it worked. Thx

  • @mukwah1111 Haha yeah. Now every 4 year old has an iphone lol

  • @mukwah1111

Yeah, we did this too, except didn't use salt. Have been doing it a while at home now, and all I found was having to rinse a lot, or have a very salty taste in the mouth, even without using salt. Teeth feel cleaner, actually.

  • @mukwah1111 same we r

  • you look like ashton kutcher

  • there is no way id make my own - just buy from supermarket

  • You could probably use gelatin to thicken it or corn starch.

I bet you could make a very nice gel tooth paste with gelatin and essential oil like tea tree oil, mint oil, or clove oil

  • Where can you buy essential oils and in what section of the store?

  • nice, i believe that i am going to do this. very well explained. thumbs up. good work. by the way, you didn't explain why use salt and glycerine?

  • nice, i believe that i am going to do this. very well explained. thumbs up. good work.

  • I bet when you baught the 12Lb bag of baking soda, the register person thought you were manufacturing crack?

  • @mikeygeneral

    too funny!

  • arm and hammer baking soda contains alliminium

  • Why do you need to add the glycerin? And why the salt? Can't you just use baking soda and water?

  • @SarahsAdventures yes just baking soda and water...

  • @SarahsAdventures vegetable glycerin is a contact bacterial desiccant.Helps stinky breath :)

  • What do some people on the comments mean by soda?

Something that the homemade paste doesnt have is flourine, it prevents your teeth from being eated up by bacteria and cavities.

  • @123yoyo123456789 Fluoride also kills brain cells. Look up the negative affects of fluoride, you might not want to endorse it anymore.

  • isin't eucalyptus toxic?

  • ya.. and when I try this toothpaste I burp 20-30 times in the next 1 hour.

  • nice.. but i dont think using glycerine is a good idea.

  • Thanks sooo much!

  • Baking soda is NOT GOOD. DON'T use it. Seriously. It only whitens and cleans your teeth because it has crystals which destroys your enamel - the layer of tooth that protects teeth.

Again - in any means do NOT use it!!!!

  • does it taste bad if you dont use anything to ad flavor to it? i hate the minty flavor of toothpaste, thats why i'm considering this.

  • what makes sence 2:12

  • sorry 2:10

  • to be honest i just wanted to see him mix it i love when people mix things lol next stop chocklate

  • Wow he said sea salt was awesome. @ shooterman100ps3 the toothpaste was too runny

  • where did you get the big bag of baking soda?

  • @sandybran

You can usually find those at Costco and sometimes WalMart if you're in the U.S.

  • thanx! it's really awesome. it's cheaper and healthier than an industreal toothpaste :)

    FUCK COLGATE!!!

  • @blancman It's not healthier to teeth since it has soda in it. Even using soda once, it damages teeth. Believe me, I know...

  • @Andicous well that doesn't stop colgate from puting baking soda in their toothpastes among other stuff such as SODIUM LAURYL SAULFATE...

  • @blancman It is bad no matter what. Doesn't matter if it's in home made or store toothpaste. Find one that doesn't contain it. Toothpaste isn't meant to swallow anyway. -.-

  • @Andicous is there something else you suggest as a substitute for toothpaste?

  • @blancman No but seriously - as I already said: If you don't want to fuck up your teeth then avoid toothpaste with soda. But it's your choice. I'm just warning.

  • @Andicous even if you dont swallow toothpaste it get absorbed through your mouth..all the chemicals in commercial toothpastes absorbing through your mouth 2 times a day is absolutely horrible. baking soda is in a lot of tooth pastes as well along with SLS and fluoride.

  • @makeupbynumbers okay, i have to agree with that it absorbs

  • @blancman agreed.

  • @blancman I make colgate at work and it's exactly the same.

  • healthy, yet simple like

  • is that lot to use in one run>? or you store it in the refrigirator ?

  • good video guys. I just made some toothpaste myself. I used pepperment oil though....Good job!

  • @TheLatvianboy smartass

  • What is that nasty looking thing behind the baking soda?

  • thats called honey

  • Oh sorry bud. I do love honey though. Are you a bee keeper?

  • way too much salt

  • yellingLoL (

you should find out what fluoride comes from and how it effects the body

    interesting walk through thanks!

  • Fluoride is an industrial waste product and was used as a very effective rat poison before they figured out that they could get rid of it in even greater quantities by selling it to just about everybody in toothpaste.

  • @TheMYusername141 My comment would be funny... if it wasn't actually true. Unfortunately, it is completely true.

Rat poison was made from Fluoride in the 1930's.

The Nazi's used it in the water supply of the prisoners in the concentration camps to make them more docile.

Fluoride is a major Industrial Waste Product from Aluminium processing plants that originally caused major problems to animals on farms nearby until it was disposed of in "other ways".

    Lots more info..

    watch?v=Q3y8uwtxrHo

  • @TheHolySpirit i didnt mean LOL in a bad way..its sad how they used it but i said LOL cuz it was a little random and unusual

  • @TheMYusername141 Glad you're awake! ;) x

  • @TheHolySpirit HAHA ...i didnt want to say lol... :D

  • "All of which can be found at Wal-Mart."

You can find toothpaste at Wal-Mart, too.

  • if you like putting floride in your body

  • i got a question.........

what can you use with glycerin other that in your homemade toothpaste???

  • lube.

i'm kidding, please don't really use that.

  • Whats the difference between using vegi glycerin and regular glycerin? Does natural toothpaste effectively prevent cavities and plaque?

  • vegi glycerin is just more natural than regular gylcerine (which made from animal fat)

vegi glyc is also more environmentally friendly

  • this tooth paste works well although I use xylitol instead of salt and a bit of stevia for sweetness for the kids. also u should use vegetable glycerin

  • i'm scared to try this

isn't this too abrasive for daily use?

  • You should be scared of using fluoride toothpaste. Read the back of the tube

  • yeah, a pea sized amount, and calling a doctor if any adverse effects. yeah, ok.. something i want to try. so basically, if a small amount can cause observable effects, what is it doing over time? Also, people with chest pain who have heart conditions will take sublingual nitro. Why? because it is absorbed more easily and faster. Toothpaste sits in the same area as well. But hey, you can show these fools the evidence and they'll still deny it.

  • @nyscof ---yet they its in our water we drink daily. I believe reverse osmosis may help in getting rid of it!! :)

  • Pure fluoride is actually sold as rat poison.

Also check out water fluoridation in your town, I was surprised when I saw my town started fluoridating in 2004.

Fluoride when you drink it causes bone cancer and dental fluorosis in children.

Buy drinking water that isnt fluoridated.
