  • Sounds easy enough to do. I ordered some beeswax online and have all the other butters. I want to try this with raw cocoa butter too.

  • Where do you get your oils now that oils by nature has been closed down?

  • On the DIY page of my website I post updates.

  • At the part where you say you can add a fragrance does that mean I can add a bit of an oil fragrance like from Bath and Body works ro sumthing?

  • @PinkLeopard80s I've only used essential oils but I know fragrance oils work, too. See that the product you want to add doesn't contain water.

  • Great video.

  • i dont have bees wax soo is there any thing else i can use or can i use my lipbalm that is made out of herbal stuff and beeswax? or can i use vasiline?

  • @makeuplover430 It has to be oil-soluble. You can find beeswax at a local health food store.

  • Do u have to use coconut oil?

  • @makeuplover430 I've had success with substituting olive oil instead of coconut oil, though you'll have to tweak the amounts (start with less olive oil than you'd use for coconut oil, and adjust until you get it where you like it).

  • can i use shea butter body lotion?

  • @auna234 you must use pure Shea Butter

  • i wonder if you could put this lotion bar in an old deodorant tube?

  • @androshi Yes, I've done that and it works great.

  • Is it possible to mix a mica with the ingredients to make a bar which will color your skin?

  • @notimetowork I haven't used mica yet but it is used in lip balm. If I were to try it, I'd make a softer salve out of the ingredients so that you can apply it over your entire body quickly.

And since I haven't tried it, I don't know the amount to use. I definitely want to try it and if I have success with it, I'll do a video.

    Thanks for the great question!

  • can you tell me what the yield of this recipe is?? how many bars does it make? thinking of using regular ice cube trays for molds it seems the right 'hand' size vessel..

  • @luviesnPsue When making lotion bars, it's the total number of ounces of ingredients that make the total amount of lotion. An ice cube sized lotion is about 3/4 oz. I prefer using mini loaf pans for a bigger bar (about 4 oz, which also lasts quite awhile). I'm about to launch my lotion bar kit for sale which has all the ingredients, plus 4 lip balm tubes, to make 13 oz' worth of lotion. • Do you have a problem with the shea butter not combining well with the other ingredients?

  • @nwatermelonsuga no, I haven't

  • could you replace the beeswax with a soy wax?

  • @theINTERLUDED I've never tried that. If you try it, come back and post your results.

  • Did you use the refined or unrefined shea butter in your lotion recipe?

  • @reneecalling I use the refined. The unrefined is less expensive and works just as well but I found it to be too grainy and not as smooth.

  • @reneecalling Thank you. : - )

  • What is unrefined shea butter like? I've never gotten it & was considering some

  • @kdanc3r I found it to be somewhat "grainy" feeling but it still makes good bars.

  • did u use yellow or white bee wax? or does it matter?

  • @sooah06

    I've used both.

The one in the video hasn't been bleached,

    so it's yellow.

  • Thank you for the info.

  • Thank you for sharing this with us.

  • I love my lotion bar.....thanks Renee

  • I have replaced shea butter with mango butter and it works just as well although I found the shea works better for people with eczema and psoriasis. Mango butter tends to cost more.

I've replaced shea butter with cocoa butter (it's actually my favorite because of the subtle chocolate scent).

I haven't used the mango cocoa butter blend but I'm assuming it's a blend of the two so the principle is still the same. Just use the same amount of the blend as you would use of the shea butter.

  • is this a soap bar?

  • No, it's not a soap bar - it's pure lotion. You don't want to wash it off.
