Okay, this is confusing but you guys have to believe this, especially all you duggar fans out there. The duggars are really followers of Bill Gothard. They are fundamentalists, or fundies. They are intensely religious, believe that the only people of worth are men, and are members of A Quiver Full movement. QF promotes having dozens of children and is a big part in overpopulation. Seriously, just look up Quiver Full. The Duggars aren't what they say they are.
@kellyoleary1 I need to correct you on your info. The Duggars state specifically in their new book "A Love That Multiplies" that they are not of the Quiverfull Movement and never have been. They are Baptists and love the LORD. They don't follow a specific person but follow the LORD and HIS teachings as do most religious people (my hubby & I have 8:). It is best to get the info from the "horses' mouth" so to speak and not from internet rumors and hearsay.
In America they breed children, shove the Bible down their throat and send them to church so they can learn how to do the same... What a sad life... No better than the muslims in Europe.. Religious people are nuts I swear..

I just don't get how people think it's ok for Michelle to pass off a newborn baby to one of the older girls. These kids are slaves for their parents. Anyone who says different needs to really open their eyes. This family is like a cult.

@yeahmate123456 because they named the first two with J names and so they found other J names they liked and they didnt want the 5th to feel bad if they didn't have a J name so they named all of them with J's. The Grandchildren (Mykenzi and Michael) and with M's.
Oh my gosh Josh is almost all the same but Michelle!! She looks so old-fashioned and young...and all that make-up! It's crazy how they've changed...and they are still in their old house here!! They are a beautiful family, though. :)
People need to stop judging them. You don't live with them, Jim Bob and Michelle are not your parents, you don't know them personally, you've never even met them so stick your pointing finger up your nose you idiot!
While their basic needs are being met (nourishment, shelter, education, etc.) I'm concerned for the children's mental and social health. With that many kids, it's difficult for them to get the attention and interaction with the parents. Also, they delegate caring for the younger ones to the older kids - while it's great to help out and be part of your sibling's lives, I see how this could take from the older one's lives in terms of time to spend with friends, hobbies, jobs, etc.
It's so lovely to see JimBob talking about how he fell for Michelle! He really seems like the quiet, shy boy who got the beautiful, popular cheerleader!

My cousin has 7 kids and I was a nanny for a woman with 8 kids. Those kids were just wonderful, and 3 in 1 family and 2 in another were autistic. Few and far between tantrums b/c of love, structure, and discipline.
@teckNine2010 I think its their type of religon. A girl at my school is the same. I asked my mom why they wear skirts, and she said "They are like omish people, but the use electricity" (I think shes kinda wrong) But it is definitely their religon.
There's nothing religious about their clothing, some believe covering oneself (modesty) is important since the body is a temple of God, however a lot of people find it important to dress modestly for practical reasons and setting a good impression. Also, they probably don't have the money to buy each kid (now I believe there's 19) a wardrobe with the latest styles.

I also want to say, it is fine to have kids help out with little siblings, but never having complete attention and love one on one builds other issue. Man, I love this family! You can tell they are raising leaders who will understand the value of a dollar and will understand the concept of responsibility and charity. Mrs.Duggar is a very selfless woman and extremely inspirational! I don't know how she does it! God bless their family!

Jim Bob is the perfect provider for his family, Michelle is one of the most amazing women I've ever "known", and each and every single one of the children is absolutely precious, including Josh and Anna's two children.
@mcfarcab Don't even think about abuse and addiction, many parents are very permissive permitting their kids to do and say what they please. Then I , as a teacher, get the luxury of working with said children who often can't handle challenging tasks and are very dependent on me, and afraid to try critical thinking skills even when I repeatedly teach them (with a LOT of patience).

Most of us are in our twenties before we're helping a toddler or young child get dressed, brush teeth, comb hair, eat and make breakfast, help with schoolwork, teach violin and piano, be there to pick them up when they fall, and keep track of them when they're out and about. That's beyond helping mommy, that's BEING a mommy.

Duggards have become slaved into having many children when it would of been better to 'love the unloved' adopt children who are less fortunate. Common sense is not common and what the family did is out of idiosyncrasy. We dont live in 100 BC!

@copaceticcosmopolite God also did not say NOT to use your brain. In the bible has many things it does not say specifically. Does it say 'do not take drugs'? Its common sense. "Love your neighbor" also includes adopting. We do not live in days of Genesis,resources were plentiful. There is no guarantee that these 19 kids will find a job and live a fruitful life. It is hedonistic and irresponsible just like Bountiful, BC.I have read the entire bible. Winston Blackmore has his own excuse!

Man, I love this family! You can tell they are raising leaders who will understand the value of a dollar and will understand the concept of responsibility and charity. Mrs.Duggar is a very selfless woman and extremely inspirational! I don't know how she does it! God bless their family!

@copaceticcosmopolite I pray for your enlightment. "Love your neighbor as yourself" does not exclude to your own DNA! TENS of MILLIONS of CHILDREN in the world need opportunity of love and basic necessities. If they have love in them, they would of had a few of their own then adopted the rest. After all one of those millions of kids in orphanges could of been the next great scientist but with selfishness of today society,very few ppl think beyond this mentality.

@copaceticcosmopolite That's all fine and dandy, but just because someone doesn't believe in God, doesn't make them hateful or a bad person. There are a lot of so called "Christians" that spread hate, Homophobia, Racism and other prejudices. Not everyone, but slavery lasted a long time due to people's interpretations of the bible. They say homosexuality is wrong, but conveniently forget other things that are listed as "wrong" in the bible. Religion has also caused a hell of a lot of wars.

I don't see why this family receives so much criticism. The love, provide, and guide for each and every child they have. That is a lot more than can be said for many other families with crack addicted mothers, abusive fathers, and molesting uncles.

Jim Bob is the perfect provider for his family, Michelle is one of the most amazing women I've ever "known", and each and every single one of the children is absolutely precious, including Josh and Anna's two children.

@mcfarcab Don't even think about abuse and addiction, many parents are very permissive permitting their kids to do and say what they please. Then I , as a teacher, get the luxury of working with said children who often can't handle challenging tasks and are very dependent on me, and afraid to try critical thinking skills even when I repeatedly teach them (with a LOT of patience).

@MissNomad428: On the contrary, I think the female children have had to mature faster than typical girls. Most of us are in our twenties before we're helping a toddler or young child get dressed, brush teeth, comb hair, eat and make breakfast, help with schoolwork, teach violin and piano, be there to pick them up when they fall, and keep track of them when they're out and about. That's beyond helping mommy, that's BEING a mommy.
