  • which are some bes processors under 250? any suggestions?

  • @thesportstv1 i think nearly every AMD cpu is under $250 dollars you can get cheap 6 cores or 8 cores from them on ebay.

  • Just to add Intel and Microsoft are in cahoots with each other... how about selling a product .. That is better then all the rest...

  • I had enough I'm switching to an Mac -apple much more reliable ..too many changes with Microsoft not being considerate with making products to meets the costumers needs. virtually taking our funds and misleading us with holding back on technology. I 'm not spending any more .... I can not be be the only one ....

  • Noob question coming in, can I upgrade my i5 2500k to a sempron 140?

  • noob question plz don't flame me. Can i upgrade my AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 250 Processor 3.00GHz to an i7 920?

  • @javysoccer13 no you cant

  • I have NEVER tried to OC a CPU before. I have an i7 920 CPU, on a Gigabyte EX58-UD5 Mainboard, with a Noctua NH-D14 CPU cooler. Can I get my CPU to run with 4Ghz while being STABLE! ?

  • @Stender84 Yeah, but get a super cooler, or gg.

  • lol all the top comments..... ^^

  • @HybridfishPRODUCTION

no you can't. Your motherboard will not fit the 1366. It's more than likely LGA775 like my core 2 duo Desktop.

  • @HybridfishPRODUCTION nope the Intel core 2 Duo is a socket LGA 775.. The I5 and I7 uses these sockets LGA 1366 LGA 1156 LGA 1155

  • p4 did have lga775

  • @killyrm34300 There was 3 versions of the socket 775. One only supported Celeron and pentium 4 up to 3.8Ghz,. The second one supported the celeron to pentium D series. The 3rd one supoorted pentium D to core 2 duo cpus. You can put a core 2 Duo cpu in a pentium 4 based socket 755 but it would fry it or not boot at all.

  • @skikarl Im making a computer for the first time. How do you overclock a processor.

  • @cawcawcawkid OC is usually done via BIOS. More info given if needed.

  • Hey, I am planning on buying one, but I heard that you could overclock it to make it really...good. I also heard that it then gets really hot, so would a Cooler Master V8 good enough to cool down the cpu?

  • *Cough* AMD *Cough*

  • what cooler would you recommend for this? i have an antec 1200 case 800 watt psu

    thanks

  • @dwain1987 definately get a Noctua NH-D14 cooler if your planning on overclocking.

  • @OverLord4141 i ordered the Titan TTC-NK85TZ/CS2(RB) Fenrir EVO CPU Cooler, this was before i checked my inbox on here, will this one be sufficient? i ordered the MSI GTX 460 Cyclone OC also, my case has plenty of fans 7 to be exact i dont plan on overclocking unless i get alot of lag on games like oblivion, starcraft 2 tropico 3 ect... hopefully this cooler i ordered and some artic silver should keep my temps down..?

  • @dwain1987 Should be good if you dont plan on overclocking to the 4Ghz point or above, but I would SERIOUSLY recommend when you have the money to get the D14 cooler, its the king of air cooling right now and you really can't beat its amazing value.

  • Why is there a tag : bad ?? lol you dont like this?!? haha

  • Well, now the 920 is gone from newegg, replaced with the 930, and the 950 for $10 more. I just bought the 950 with the MSI X58 Pro-E and 6GB of G.Skill RipJaws.

I am proud to say, this video is the most informative video I have watched, to this date. I am against the videos by Tiger Direct since they got rid of Logan, and you have been somewhat of a replacement (as in your inventory of videos is not as large).

If I were to run GTA:IV on the stock cooler, would it get close to 70c? 22c room.

  • i7 920 isnt that expensive compared to the others

  • would this be a decent computer

    i7-920 overclocked 3.2ghz

    ati 1gb 5870

    6gb ddr3 1600mhz

  • i am building a new rig this is what i have planned .

    asus p6t deluxe

    12gb ddr3 1333mhz 2gb each stick x6

ati 5770 crossfire . both in x16 slots

    intel i7 920

    1tb harddrive

    blu ray drive

    1000w power supply .

unsure about the case but i think i am gunna get a coolermaster case

i think that this should last me a few year . comment tell me what you think

  • @gordyjordy123 with a rig like this it would be worth it to also pick up a decent cpu cooler, but make sure the cooler can fit in your case (mistake i made :P) also look at what type of harddrive you are getting, if you are going to get a cheap hard drive then you will still get bad lag, i'd advise looking at getting a Black series hard drive or a small SSD for the operating system.

  • @xerorox15 yes i realised that with my old pc build . hdd lag . i am now going for 128gb ssd . and the 1tb hdd for storage . i have got the cooler master v10 heatsink for overclock my beastly i7 to over 4Ghz :)

  • i'm running the 920 now.

    It's perfect.

  • You just saved me £600 ($900) THANK YOU! I was going to get the 980x

  • So its not recommended to use thr stock cooler that comes with the cpu? Im looking to do some serious gaming with the rig im building. Not going to overclock or anything.

  • @bigpoppa611 The stock cooling is perfectly fine. I'm using the stock thermal paste as well as the stock fan and have had zero problems. Just make sure you have a little bit of airflow in the case. I've got one large fan in the front of an Antec 300 case sucking air.

  • @bigpoppa611 get liqud cooling for 100 dollars more

  • core i 7 920

Asus board, (cant remember the model at the moment)

    9 gb ram

    2 x gtx260 cards sli

    1 Tb Drive

  • i fucking love chika

  • dude awesome video, i learned alot! and you just saved me about $100, thanks man i really appreceiate it.

  • So would an overclocked i7 930 be good for games? and runing them on higher graphics,im building a computer from dell and i want to make the right choice. Im sure on everything else but this and i dont really want to spen another 1000 on a 970

  • I FUCKING LOVE MY 920

  • @acs328i what are your system specs..

  • This may be the same as the other i7 but the 975 is extreme edition and it is actually different. Thinking about getting it, my q6600 is not that good now.. But soo many things to buy, motherboard, ram, cooler, case, power... The only thing I'm keeping is the gtx260 and the hdds and dvd.. That day will come but not soon..

  • ok so this is EXPENSIVE AS FUCK, but is it really good for gaming rather than an AMD cpu?

  • well its the cheapest i7 thats higher than 900, and amd can smd tbh,,,

  • Yes, it's EASILY good for gaming, and actually this is the best one for your buck since if you have a cooling solution you can overclock it to 4 Ghz.

but also, AMD Cpu's take a different socket so you would have to chose from a different set of Mobos depending on which CPU you would buy. Intel or AMD...

  • what coolers are recommended for this cpu, i will overclock it to around 4ghz

  • go with water cooling.

  • @AccuraticA Noctua NH-D14 is probably the best fan you can get on the market. It's big tho.

  • Comment removed

  • Not quite.. the 975 has 12MB L3 cache whil'st the 920 has 8. Also 975 has more advanced piping. But, well.. in Sweden the 975 costs 22k and the 920 is 2,6k soo... really not worth it.

Also, 920 is easily overclocked to 4,4Ghz with watercooling

  • @NoneImparticular yeah but the 975 is EXPENSIVE AS FUCK, so most people go with the 920.

  • That's what I said in my previous comment ;/

  • i know, i just like saying EXPENSIVE AS FUCK

  • EXPENSIVE AS FUCK

    your right, that is fun

    and true

  • @skikarl is €230 expensive for it?

  • No its not.

  • om jag skaffar en i7 950, kan jag överklocka den till 4GHz stable med Corsair H50 cpu cooler?

  • Absolut

  • nice! :D, måste bara lära mig hur man överklockar nu

  • går det med en 920 också?

  • Hello dude, great vid, i was wondering if i can buy an CPU Intel Core i7-920 2.66 Ghz , and if i could install it by myself. I'm not very much pleased with my game performances on my current computer. Here are my specs :

    Windows 7

    Intel Core 2 duo 2.13ghz ( 6400)

    4GB ram

    Nvidia Geforce 9800 GTX,512 MB

    800 gb hard disk

So i am wondering if i could buy a new processor and do everything by myself. Please Help me! Thank you!

  • Sorry but it would not work. your motherboard right now needs a core 2 duo and you want to put in an i7, you would need to just get a better core series chip, like the q 6750

  • So what do you think, if i try buying CPU Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 3.0 Ghz/ 12Мb/ 1333 MGz LGA775 . Will it be ok for my computer? Or will i have some problems?

  • buy a good cpucooler, and overclock the ass of that thing..

  • @marinho94 honestly dude the only way to run an i7 is to buy a new board because of Intel's new socket

  • @marinho94

On the stock cooler i overclocked my 6400 and it ran fin at 2.90 GHz @ 125 degrees farinhight 35c

  • Newb question here. Can I install an intel i7 920 and replace it with my current intel P4 3.0ghz? I'm not sure about my mobo's compatibility,

  • @HAILFROMTHE941

    wow wow wow man

where you been for the last 4 months in cave?

    im sorry for this descreption

    here it is

the i7 cpu require 1366 socket (x58 atx) so if you got this mobo you will be able to use the i7.

  • no you can not upgrade from the p4 to the i7

  • @HAILFROMTHE941 no it's a different socket

you'll need a new mobo, which means that you'll probably need new ram as well

  • @HAILFROMTHE941 cant belive you asked this question . your board is about 10 years old and probley get for around £100 for your whole set up the i7 alone is twice the price . if you want a good gaming rig then i would really consider saving

  • @HAILFROMTHE941 you can upgrade to a core 2 duo as

  • u should get the i7 oem so u don't have to pay for that shitty ass cooler..

  • intel cpu cooler suxx compared to amd phenom ii's

  • lol the stock coolers provided with the i7 range are more than capable of keeping your cpu cool.

Unless you are overclocking you should not need an aftermarket cooler. If you do you're a moron who isnt providing your rig with enough air flow.

  • yes the stock coolers work fine, but they run at 45 c idle. and that is ok, but in the long run it hurts the life if the cpu, the cooler it runs, the better. regardless

  • cool! this video is awesome! you sure know your sh*t!! this helped me understand processors!

one thing i would like to ask is about the HT technology..would it be as safe as overclocking the i7 900 series with HT ON or OFF?!

or is there any difference to be expected in processing speed? temperature? lifespan? or core voltage required?

again this video is AWESOME ^^!!

  • its ok to oc with ht on

  • how it cost in euros

  • will this cpu fit on the p55 socket ?

  • no this is the 900's model which is the 1336 socket...intel does make an i7 1556 socket though which is the p55 socket

  • um... this is the 900, yes. but the socket is 1366. and the p55 is 1156

  • orite thanks alot mannn

  • no prob bob :)

  • Do you think Intel is stupid? Do you think they would supply you with cooler which couldn't keep cool your CPU when you watch HD or gaming? Stock cooler works nice in all situation no matter what are you doing.. playing games, HD and so on... but it's not designed for overclocking.

  • intel is not stupid, they are actualy very smart. they give you a shitty under powered cooler so that you

    A: buy a different one = MONEY

B: dont, and you cpu breaks sooner = MONEY

  • nice video.. i appreciate it allot

    well done

  • Mate do u know how awsome you are you a teenager and u can custom build you own computer!!! man i am only 12 and i can't even custom build a computer lolz i am stilll learning but my other computer my friend build it for me lolz;P

  • @RetardsTalk4Nothing I built my first PC at about 11, and once you know how to do it it's damn easy. It's just a case of knowing what port goes where :)

  • hehe where did you learn ??

  • Self taught :P

  • @oddbodjr1 hehe

  • 11? How old are you now, 12???

    LOL

  • 15 >.>

And however old you are, I can see you have the mental age, of an 8 year old.

  • Cunt, it takes no talent at all assembling a PC. NONE! 8 pieces that you buy and just connect with each other is so fucking easy you would have to be oddbodjr not to figure it out!

Fucking dumb white boy who was given everything in life, on your knees bitch!

  • ok there...first off. it does take some basic skill to build a computer. you cant even start to tell me it takes none. it takes far FAR less now then it did 20 or 30 years ago, or even 10. but still. you need some basic shit. and how do you have any idea if he was given anything in life, he may be spoiled fucking rotten. or he might be like me, and buy all his own shit. so calm down.

  • DESK TOP WORK!!

  • i want to find a oem i7... and prob use my amd coooler on it

  • intelstock cooler suk so badly... amd stock cooler got 4 heat pipes and copper all over xxD

  • it's sad how the phenom ii 955 pwns this in games at 3.8ghz when this has 8 threads... 8! threads!

  • Not really. i7 920 beats the ii 955 even with the ii 955 having 2 4890 and the i7 having 2 4850's. Look it up before you babble. ii 950 only beats the i7 at Crysis because Crysis likes the better GPU. Shush.

  • AMD phenom ii x4 better CPU for games!

i7 is bad for games on high resolution!

You have written a totally ludicrous!

  • Dude read the benchmark tests done on it, you're fucking stupid. THEY TESTED THEM. LOOK IT UP ON GOOGLE

  • Comment removed

  • Don't you understand what I'm saying to you?

the AMD phemon II's X4 ii 955 LOST to the i7 when they got benchmarked even with the AMD Phemon II X4's having better video cards!!

The i7 is the best processor on the planet right now, period.

  • I do not argue, i7 the leader of productivity.

i7 Much faster in video converting and other.

But AMD phenom ii x4 gives stabler FPS in games, and does not concede INTEl on the maximum options (sometimes surpasses).

You can notice a difference - 200 FPS at i7 on the minimum options against 150 FPS at AMD? And on a maximum, a difference often not in advantage i7.

AMD phenom ii x4 for games at least is not worse.

  • I agree with that, but see you can do this little trick called OverClocking XD

and once you do that the i7 chips blow AMD out of the water.

  • lol exactly

  • @dinamitli86 i think it is but he is using it for serious work i think

  • Just to say mate but, if you are using a EVGA X58 SLI, i was recommended when i built mine that i should not buy this motherboard because of Reliability Problems. But i think there might be a different board by EVGA that will give to basically the same or better, but not this one!!!!!!!

  • Nice job, dued

  • Skikarl, thanks alot for the information; much appreciated!

    Keep it up!

  • how do you hybrid duo core or any multiple core in that matter? how do you over clock cpu?

  • what do you think google is for?

  • or u can spend the thousand dollars and get the 975 and overclock that to over 5ghz... and btw... dont forget the bus speed... the 920 only has like 4.8 while the 975 is 6.4? So you're right... there no difference between the two other than 1000 dollars!

  • thats qpi, and you can oc the 920 to 6.4 if you want, and you can oc a 920 just as high as a 965

  • Whats qpi? Sure you can overclock the 920 to whatever you want, but to get it to levels that 975s can be overclocked to on liquid cooling, you need to start looking at liquid nitrogen and other crazy solutions for the 920.

  • you can do things even when ur benchmarking xD ,

mine gets really freaking hot ,, , 36C idle and like 77 on load with no oc, , i think i need a better case and get my zalman 9500 lapped

  • Hey guys i have a question is there a program which tells me to how much i can overclock it too, cause i have only 500wat Power supply, i7 920, and gtx260 216core and 9gb tri channel ram could anyone tell me to how much i could overclock the i7 since my PSU is pretty bad thanks in advance

  • you dont want it idling above 50C

  • If i get a i7 975 and oc it wont i get better performance than the i7 920 is capable of???

  • Not necessarily. You can hit 4.3GHz with the 920, and get the same performance as the 975. The only difference is $700, heat and an unlocked multiplier.

  • hey karl nice video, I'm stuck with my Q6600

    w/8 gig. oh well.....

    Mike

  • i was going to build a new computer i have abudget of 1300 pounds any ideas what i should get as my specs i use DDR2 PC2-6400 (800MHz) DIMM i have 5 gigs of tis

  • Ok, 1366 is better people. I've seen all of skikarls reviews, and he knows wtf he is talking about. LGA 1366 is waaay better than the new 1156. 1156 DOES NOT have hyperthreading, or support triple channel ddr3. That makes 1366 better.

  • damn, this is awesome. 3dgameman is for noobs. skikarl made a great video.

  • i have seen 3d game man, he like is way to robotic, he never talks to his viewers other then those dumb like 30 second videos where he answers like 1 question

  • Omg wtf did he say? he got me so lost i swear i started to fall asleep when he was talking and talking

  • 1156 >

    Better architecture

    stop whining

  • dude, if your trolling you have just won.

    congrats, you are now blocked.

    enjoy.

  • Nice!

  • U are such a geek! :D

    Nice info ;)

  • for everyone about to post i5 and socket 1566 is better, the core i9 is being realeased for, you guess it, socket 1366. socket 1566 is for main stream.

  • very good info,

    thanks alot.

  • The I7 is so old now!

  • un, ok

  • no moar internet whining

    lga 1156 > lga 1366

  • wrong

  • Just because its newer doesn't mean its better. i5 is you and i7 is a Kenyan, you could never beat a Kenyan in a race, same with i5

  • sorry dude your fail. only thing the i5 has is the voltage difference. the rest is a step down, way to fail.

  • your mis informed

  • 920 Sucks, i5 is better for 200$ and its waaay better, on lga 1156,

    i5 720 = 200$ 2.66ghz quad and beats the i7 920

    :]

save your money get your lga 1156

  • Its not JUST about the ghz, its the hyperthreading and other shiz.

    The i7 920 would destroy i5 720 in benchmarks

  • i5 has the same quality, l2 benchmark check

    except better architecture!

  • Its a budget i7, it is not better then it, its for people who can't afford the i7

  • the i7 is SHITLOADS better then the i5

this is not an argument, its a fact.

  • stop whining, lga 1156 >

  • dude, no on is whining, the 1366 is better, the 1156 is a step down of the 1366

  • nope nope

    1156>

  • ok then.

    you can keep fail trolling.

  • Can you do math you idiot!!! 1366 is 210 extra pins!!! thats 210 extra pins of data transfer power etc!

  • im going to get intel i7 tomorrow in my new computer :D

  • sweet i gotta p4 ht cpu running at 3.2gig not overclocked!!

  • i got the same CPU cooler ... but i got dual core 1.6 ghz

  • nice..!

  • btw DO NOT wait buying this cpu

this cpu is wourth every penny

  • the case looks different mines all blue

  • 130W is the amount of heat it produces, not power consumption. Sorry for double comments.

  • Nice :)

  • nice motherboard

    looks good/nice

  • SkiKarl is rich!!

  • Holy crap how do you afford this stuff :X?

  • lmfao thts wat im saying

  • Agreeeed. All his spare stuff he should run competitions on youtube for or something XD

  • amazing,skikarl.

your computer is now fire cooking.

  • skikarl you should do a review on any alienware products

  • awesome skikarl. I know your computer is kicking karate.

  • WHAAA

    crazy white people.

  • ya man

  • also WHAAA
