Because the majority of Anime uses names that are common or popular in japanese culture. Or names that have meaning that help you better understand the temprament of a character. Like Subaru "Subaru" is the Japanese word for the star cluster Pleiades. It also means 'Unite' or 'Unity'.

Yeah, her name is An Shoji. She chose a male PC to distance herself from her real self and the name Tsukasa came from teh japanese character 'Ji' in 'Shouji'
