  • Ja pojat ei muuta kuin lisää harjoitusta..... Ja kaikki muutkin kuorot.

  • @STJ2000esmi Eiköhän tässä kuitenkin ole yksi parhaista levytyksistä kyseisestä kappaleesta, eli en tiedä paljonko tätä mainitsemaasi harjoitusta tarvitaan.

  • Thanks, great job! Here's my own translation of the second part of the poem, which you seem to have forgotten: On the green ground where's no dimming walls under the high sky of stars I wonder about singing and the echo goes around Who's voice is heard there? The gentle maiden of forest flirtatious on a man's path hopping in a fancy dress and golden curlies are waving
  • Oh wow! Once again, thank you, Jean Sibelius!

  • I saw and heared it once more - it's so great!

Men choir voices, basses, bears, nature - I'm happy!

  • Oh, I love it so! Thx a lot!

  • I've been searching the 'Net for an English translation of Metsämiehen laulu, without much success. There's a translation of the Finnish into Italian, but when I try to pass it through an online translation application, the results are laughable. I finally found the following translation of stanzas 1, 2, 5, & 6 only--it was by someone identified only by his YouTube user's name: kimmotapio83.

  • Hail the forest and the mountain!

Hail the prince of the woods!

    Here's thy young and brave son;

Forth he goes filled with strength

Like a fiery wind on a field.

I want to be a woodsman,

    Champion of the mighty forest.

    On the meadows of Tapiola

    I wrestle with bears

And the world be left in oblivion!

  • good translation

  • Delightful here is peace,

    Valiant is the battle:

    Storm rages and forest rumbles,

    Strikes the lightning

And a spruce falls tumbling down.

I want to be a woodsman,

    Champion of the mighty forest.

    On the meadows of Tapiola

    I wrestle with bears

And the world be left in oblivion!

  • Excellent addition--thanx for posting! Will you be posting any of the other Op. 18 part-songs? If nothing else, Sydämeni laulu deserves to be on YouTube.

    Incidentally, who are the performers?

  • Gorgeous music and beautiful pictures of the great Finnish woods, and of the king of forest! -1:33 :)

  • loistava lataus, kiitos!
