@GorillaONeil you act like the LS1's are boats in the handling category. High Perfomance Pontiac tested a stock 02 WS6 and she pulled a .94 on the skidpad. Most race tracks the LS1 will still walk the RX8...especially if there are any elevation changes. It's not hard to get make an fbody a beast on the track. how often do you race someone when handling actually comes in to play. 95% of all races between these two cars will be a drag/hwy race...I'll gladly stick with my WS6.

A laughable joke of a car to most people, the dodge SRT4, with a 20,000$ tag, actually crushes anything in it's price range, and holds it's own against cars in 30,000-35,000 easily, yet americans didn't like it because it wasn't muscle. Also, I'm guessing your stats come from a ford site, or a site with ford ads all over it, because when I looked GT skid pads ranged from .88 to .91, and the rx8 ranged from .88 to .92, and the lowest 60-0 I saw for the GT was 107ft.
@FinalBossWTMN No, the stats came from Motor Trend magazine. the test was a 2010 mustang gt with the factory brembos up front and the factory 3.73 gearing option. I havent checked the ford site for what they claim. the v6 version also stops at 104 ft, but does not have brembos, just a little lighter up front. I havent seen an rx8 do better than a .88g skidpad. reguardless, the mustang is a better buy, more engine building potential, better repution for engine reliability too. the rx8 needs FI.
I just did a ton of research on the new 5.0, and I withdraw everything, Mustang FINALLY fixed the handling, the weight, the price, the MPG, everything, and made a masterpiece. The new 5.0 crushes everything in its class in every category, and for the cheapest price, as well as an AMAZING 12.7 1/4 mile. I most likely will be getting my hands on one to replace my rx8. :P (I'm sooo happy mustang finally got it right and fixed that handling.)

I cant wait to see what kind of aftermarket stuff comes out, im sure there will be alot of supercharger/turbo kits, as well as suspension stuff, cams etc...also the Brembo package from the factory is only the fronts, so some bigger rear brakes would help too. I guess Im just going to have to get the supercharger on my ls1 soon if I want to keep up with the 5.0's.
