could a standard m16a2 or the m4 be able to hit that same plate with iron sights with a shooter that could see that far or are those rifles just like the ak's
@potymouf1 The AK is more accurate that rumor makes believe. A quality Ak is capable of 3-4moa at 100yd. Although the further you go out the more the shot group opens. At 400yd with this AK74 using a 9x scope I was at best able to achieve a 14" group. With a quality AR rifle accuracy is cut in half or more. Iron sight you would not be able to see that 12" plate I was shooting at.
@semiautoriflelover1 My wife is Annie Oakley grand daughter. She is hot and can shoot a tighter groups with her Rossi 7.62x39 than I can with my national match Ar, lol
@Bobby15ish1 ya its 400 yards. Look to the left. the large berm is the 300 yard mark. you can clearly see its beyond that. then when i go to the target you can see the yardage marker to the left says 400. The total range distance is 600 yards. Its ok to be a skeptic, I dont know of to many people who shoot their AK/s as far as I do. Look at my other videos. If this were 200 I would not need a 9x scope and I would not miss like I did here. Thanks for watching
@eDiesel18 The 5.45 AK-74 is much more accurate at long range vs the 7.62x39. The thin barrel on the Ak can not hold its moa much beyond 400 yards though. The group size really starts to open up after 400. But for what it is its plenty accurate. Thanks for watching and commenting
@razgriz4977 I would like to keep my local private. It is a benchrest range. Nice and flat with lots of benches for competition. It is one of the nicest I have ever been to or seen. Thanks for the comment
@bzhfbz I would agree it adds beauty to a otherwise desolate winter landscape. I really like fresh snow in Evergreen trees. Now that is beauty. However Its a pain in the A__ at the gun range 8 (
@bzhfbz Very true. No snowmobile for me, but I still do not let the snow stop me from shooting. I just put on snowshoes or just some gators and trek out to the woods. If I go more than a week without shooting I get the trigger finger itch real bad
@crest2598 If you can get used to the cheek weld you will be good to go. You will not believe how fast you can rapid fire thru a scope on the 74. The muzzle climb is just none. Good luck
@155Millimeter It is an old Tasco 3-9x40 that I had since I was young. It was sitting around for the past couple years so i cannibalized it to try on the AK. Scope was last on a Marlin 22 rifle. The mount is a standard AK rail mount with weaver base. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@155Millimeter I used to favor higher power scopes but after doing a lot of shooting I now realize their are more benefits to using lower power optics. I would only favor High magnification in a dedicated target rifle where the target was very small and motionless. example benchrest shooting
I enjoy only using enough magnification to distinguish the target.
@155Millimeter Thank you. The 5.45x39 round of the AK-74 has almost identical ballistics to the 5.56. Except the 5.45 russian shoots a high ballistic coefficient round at just under 3000fps and will hold its accuracy beyond 400meters. Its accuracy and ballistics nearly double the effective range of the 7.62x39
@semiautoriflelover Well I have a macintosh so im going to have to use imovie. Going to be a learning process. That way I can add some coolness to the vids. lol
@jetfuel545 I might just buy a mac again. When I had one before it was a waste because I wasn't into pictures or video which are the best reason to own a mac. Macs are the best with video editing.
@MrSurgicalPrecision Thanks, I grouped on paper after this and found i was a bit low and to the right. If I had adj for this Im pretty sure I would have put 7 or 8 on the 12" plate. It seems to still hold 3moa at this range if I do my part. Next time I get to this range I am going to bring ballistic info out to 600 and shoot at human size torso target.
@jetfuel545 I prefer to go with target that are bigger than I can hit at the beginning stages of long range DOPE gathering. Then I switch off to smaller targets.
@MrSurgicalPrecision Sound advice. Thats how i ranged my .308 out to 600. Shot at poster board and tweaked the adj. Now I just confirm on steel at long range then start shooting for group on paper.
I don't hear the report from the slug hitting the plate. What gives?
