  • nvm nvm nvm you need a real camerca :)

  • what camera thing do you use? with the i60? I use hypercam .-.

  • thanks apreciate the video

  • this works too in movie studio hd platinum 10 so you dont need any "pro" software

  • cant install all the time Installation Failed

  • He makes this to hard!!!!

  • is that a green screen you are using?

  • @stocktonmiller110 Nope. Real location.

  • Thanks for the tutorial. My camera is a canon HF 200 and I have FINAL CUT PRO but I'm fumbling around in the dark trying to make it work! Any chance you could give me a heads up using FCP? Keep up the good work, thanks

  • @troynorth I don't know FCP well enough (though I am forced to use it in school) to respond. I'll have to check it out.

  • Are you a mormon???

  • @phillozoph50 Yep!

  • @thefrugalfilmmaker ...................

  • @thefrugalfilmmaker American Mormons go in my house here in Brazil

  • @thefrugalfilmmaker Do you use Magic Mormon Underwear during recording?

  • Hi scott, question; does your camera shoot in (AVCHD mts files) secondly how would u do this if the only part u want in slow mo is somewhere in between the shot, 4 example: if u have 200 frames and only want slow mo in frames 100-150 how -

would u do this . also im aware of the Velocity envelope wich can be set at 50% between the -two points. but the overall event remains 100%. thanks.

  • @itonacho63 Yes, my Canon HFS100 does shoot in AVCHD. For the slow motion on just a certain part of the clip, I'd use the split command to cut out the clip you wanted to be slower, then follow the slo-mo process. When done, insert the clip into the gap created by your split.

  • nices

  • cool

  • ur voice sounds like obama

  • I cant change my shutter speed on my Nikon.

  • i got sony vegas pro 9 for free lol

  • Cant finde the Lagarith Lossless in render menu in vegas pro 11

  • @minecraftdud You have to install it. Check earlier in the video to find out how.

  • @thefrugalfilmmaker I found it out, you can't have vegas open when you install it if you have you have to close it and open it for it to work :)

  • I have canon rebel t3 but can't adjust anything on video... and my slo motion is blurry what do i do?

  • Thanks! this im looking for, for me to make a smooth slow mo, video using SOny vegas 8.. though it consumes alot of time rendering a video clip

  • i have the same vixia lol

  • IT KIND OF LOOKS LIKE THE REAL WORLD

    XD

  • @Thebestremoswagga noup its gta iv

  • why dont they just have a "smooth slow motion button"?

  • can i do this with cannon A400 powershot?

  • cant find the lossless template or format in the render menu. Vegas 9 pro.

  • I wonder if it will work if you slow it down even more? Will it still be smooth at 0.1 speed?

  • nice video im going to try this with my canon hg10, i can shoot 60i and 1000 shutter speed, i hope its work. Thank you so much

  • Would this work on iPhone 4 ?

  • 2:09...is it a lamp or is it a vageenie...?

  • I had done one slow motion with Canon 550D, which record in 50 fps. What I did is just open a project with 25fps in Sony Vegas, then import the video I recorded with 50fps, then slow it down. It did produce smooth slow motion also... is there any difference with what you had done?

  • @HuanTheIntelligent The difference is that many standard video cameras cannot shoot in 50 or 60 fps like yours can. This video explains how you can get 60fps if your camera can shoot 60i (interlaced) and has a manual shutter. The rest is easy.

  • u cant do that if ur using an ordinary cam?

  • @FlippingAllDay Nope. You need 60i and an adjustable shutter. If your camera shoots at 60p then you don't need this video.

  • why is it that when i bring my slow motion clip into my other project file it plays in a smaller frame than the other clips? I have tried rendering the slow motion clip every way possible in order to make it the same size but nothing is working.

  • Is adjusting the shutter speed 100% necessary for getting this slow motion effect? I have the Canon Vixia HF R10, and it can record in 60i, but as I have read, it has no adjustable shutter speed, unlike my JVC Everio. but the JVC Everio is standard definition and, if I am correct, only records in 30p.

  • @wierdboo106 From what I understand, you need to be able to adjust the shutter. Have you tried it anyway? Experiment, then let us all know the results.

  • Hey FFM...Thanks for all your great videos, they are very helpful. Keep up the great work... I have a question.. You adjusted the format in the camera to 60i, however when you went to convert that same file it's properties said 29.97 fps...Did I miss something? Can you elaborate.. Thanks for sharing..

  • @JJBfilm When you go through the process, you turn your 60i footage into 60p footage. You are then putting that footage into a 30fps (29.97) timeline for the slow motion effect.

  • @thefrugalfilmmaker Thank you for your response.. But I guess what I'm trying to ask is that the camera is set to 60i. But the .mts file properties of the raw video say 29.97fps.. Not 60i....I tested it out 2x on my camera. I shot at 60i but my mts. file properties say 29.7fps....What gives... I was a C student in school so please bare with me..lol...Thanks for all your help...

  • @thefrugalfilmmaker I did some home work..The "i" in "60i" = interlaced. Each "frame" is actually 1/2 the video information... alternating lines of the horizontal video resolution. in "frame" 1, horizontal lines 1, 3, 5, etc... then in "frame" 2, horizontal lines 2, 4, 6, etc... When deinterlaced, a complete frame is produced... hence, 30 fps. And that is actually 29.97 fps, but everyone refers to it as 30 fps.....I got a little ocd on the subject...Thanks for the help..

  • Finally after months, you are my HERO!

  • thanks man, i thought that it's imposible in sv

  • If you're really serious about extreme slow motion though, checkout mvtools. It uses algorithms to estimate motion vectors of every object in the footage, which can be used to interpolate individual frames. here is an example video: youtube.com/watch?v=YECO7mxmGHU

  • Cool

  • man i wish there was tutorial for adobe premiere cs5 pro..

  • I couldn't help but notice the LDS missionary in the first slow-mo clip. Are you LDS?

  • @m00tmike That is correct, sir!

  • @thefrugalfilmmaker Nice! So am I! I'm new to your channel but I really like your tips. Where can I see the stuff you have worked on?

  • @m00tmike LDS BABY!

  • It works really good but the sound doesnt work? its the same as the begining

  • @QCSamG Slowing sound is much easier. CTRL-drag to desired length, right click on audio and then 'properties' followed by ticking 'lock to stretch'. You can always separate your video and audio, process them accordingly and rejoin (or 'group') them later.

  • @thefrugalfilmmaker I did this but after i render the video, when ,I play it in windows media player, the sound goes like the original and the vide is slowed down even more than how i slowed it in vegas??:S

  • @QCSamG I think I understand what is going on here. The final render isn't made to be played by itself, but put into your project and THEN rendered out with everything else. It should play normally this way.

  • Can you use the Lagarith Lossless Video Codec download on Final Cut Pro?

  • @thecuriouscurlz Apparently the Lagarith codec is windows-only. Sorry.

  • Can you please make a tutorial for a camera mount on a bike? I enjoy bike riding AND film making, but I can't always hand-hold my camera because I need my hands for stability. If you could make one with a good shock absorber, and with the frugal style, that'd be very neat and I will totally make one. Thanks!

  • @zhatdude I'll put in on the list! Thanks for the suggestion.

  • PLZ SHOW US HOW YOU MAKE YOUR VIDEOS, FROM SHOOTING TO EDITING

  • @TheSlimeBox I'll put it on the list! Thanks!

  • @TheSlimeBox I'll put it on the list! Thanks!

  • I have final cut express. Any ideas??

  • @kcfilms99 I'm sorry I don't. Any Mac people here that can help?

  • BTW, for those asking about a frugal solution... goodervideo makes a great slo mo app that slows things down a LOT. Avisynth also has a vector slo mo function but my experience has been that avisynth is glitchy and more trouble than it's worth.

  • WHAT CAMERA DO YOU USE?

  • @Legokink1 CANON VIXIA HFS100!

  • I have Sony Vegas Pro 8 and the video tab from the custom template looks different. I can't change the video format to the lagarith codec (I have like 5 choices of format and they're all windows-something) Is there any way I can still do the effect?

    p.s.- Your videos are awesome!

  • @Thepunisher62 Change the video format to "Video for Windows (.avi)" and then select the Logarith codec from the templates available.

  • Widows Movie Maker Pro.

  • As it's supposed to be frugal, you can also use virtualdub to achieve this kind of slow motion. And yes, Vdub is free.

  • Do you have a spine in your throat?

  • how did you go about screencapturing your menu's in your cam? that would be very helpful to know for my tutorials thank you :)

  • @lotsaEntertainment I run the AV outs from my camera to an analog to digital converter box, the Canopus ADVC-100. This box has a firewire output that I run into my computer. I then capture the footage live into my computer using Vegas' video capture utility, much like you would capture a DV tape.

  • @thefrugalfilmmaker thanks! :D

that capture thing never works for me haha it always glitches and just has a black screen but anyways thanks

  • Hey it's a missionary! I will be entering the MTC in July for Argentina!

  • The footage you use has very steady movement in it. But If I have footage with a lot of fast movement, how will this affect the outcome?

  • @pudidotdk You'd have to experiment, of course, but it probably goes without saying that the less movement your camera has to process, the better the result. I've done this with the on-camera subjects running and it looks great. A running camera operator might not work as well.

  • When I did this in vegas pro 8 a while back I didn't need to use the lossless codec and do two project files. You can do it with just one project and one render by setting the project frame rate and clip speed values, then rendering it at half resolution. There may be some other details but you can do it with just one pass.

  • @LucidDreamTricks Can you do it in one pass without losing resolution?

  • @thefrugalfilmmaker Whether it's one or two passes, going from 60i to 30p halves the resolution. The only way to get back to full resolution is to interpolate which sony vegas does with smart interpolation but that's the same whether doing it in one or two passes.

  • How can i get most when im shooting at 24fps ?

  • @yuzz101 You can't shoot at 24fps and get this result. You have to plan ahead and know which shots you want to slow down later (just like with a film camera) and shoot them with the settings mentioned in the video.
