I think these are fakes... someone's trying to pull our legs. The carvings are too new to be ancient amercian- notice how the "I" and the heart are the same color as the rest. I've seen plenty of fake glyphs and plenty of real ones side by side. Just my opinion, thse are fakes. They would need some more patina to be older than 50 or 60 years old.
He's interpreted the one's in Fillmore that I know of, and he came up with a pretty reasonable explanation, but I think the best shot at decoding these things is through the chippewa or ojibwa people.

Interesting. The symbols and technique looks quite different from the more typical rock-pecked petroglyphs. Perhaps these are from a later period?
