Dude Metallica is better band then any of these guys, sure Iron Maiden are great. But James Hetfield has the best vocals, and best riffs. The guy is a beast. He can down pick like a gillion times per second, hahahaha. But seriously, Kirk Hammett is a fairly good lead guitarist he has done a very good job on most of the songs solos.

Dimebag Darrell is a crazy one for lead, his solos are crazy nobody can use a whammy as well as he can.

Way overrated? No, thrash has inspired many fusion genres today including Death metal, Nu-metal, Metalcore and other forms of Extreme metal. It's why they are one of the BIG FOUR of thrash alongside Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax.
