no offense but i'd rather wear blah than 4-year-old-vase-dress. seriously. i think the judges used the past performances of winnie and eli as a basis and i don't think they should. quite disappointing results.
it's sad how most of them just wants to be "safe". all of them should aim to be the best. mediocrity is not fashionable. judges were right in saying they're not at all inspiring.
i was gonna say the same thing in the last couple episodes...all they say is to be safe. it's kinda sad to hear it though you know. and the judges though kept telling them "to be careful..." I don't like that piece of advice especially when it is about fashion.
indeed! so agree. in other PR's they were all aiming to be the top. all their interviews were about being the top. here they just want to be safe. T_T
Ivan's eagle dress was AWESOME and AVANTE GARDE. Poor guy shoulda slipped those words into his explanation and maybe the judges wouldn't have lamb-basted him.
youre a goddamn idiot. do you even know what avant garde means? the judges were completely right in describing it as a costume dress. it was horrible and too literal. learn what words mean before you just start using them because they sound cool. idiot.
Uh ya, it means the first group of troops sent in to battle. It's the phrase that the english "vanguard" comes from.
My statement was meant to be taken as "he shoulda said what he said in the back room" (which included the words avante garde)"and perhaps then they would have gone easier on him".
So, demented, instead of lamb-basting me for considering a garment to be interesting and artistic, just state that you disagree. It's the adult thing to do, don't ya know.
Ivan's dress is not avant garde. It's not fashion-forward, it's not innovative, it's not experimental, therefore it is NOT AVANT GARDE. And even if Ivan used the term avant garde to describe his garment, he would have put himself on bigger shame because the judges know what avant garde means, and sorry to say, that dress is not innovative.
Yeah, and Ivan's dress is costume-y, it's horrible.
If Philip's dress were in a better color, it could have held its own at the Oscars. These judges cannot see vision. Plus, the eagle dress wasn't meant for shopping; it's meant to be worn once at a party. Costumy? Not enough to matter w/ the right back drop.
I feel that the designers on Project Runway in other nations are far more creative then their American counterparts. This hostess of the show, like Kelly Osbourne on the UK series, is boring as Hell however! Very, very "lackluster!"
to rebelheart76: "We need goodlooking designers here in the Philippines! Eli rocks!"
is it good as saying that this show should'nt be judge base from their creations but instead according to their looks and appeal?
what we need is somebody with commendable designing prowess that would help lift up the fashion morale of phil! that's the essence of this show... not searching for good looking designers..
I so agree. Eli sucks and he should of been eliminated a LONG TIME AGO.
Seriously I've notice the people commenting on here are so supportive of Eli base on his good looks. That's not the point of Project Runway. The winner must have creativity and originality. I'm glad the judges were harsh on them because most of their designs have been .... BLAH, boring.
I hate to say it to you Eli lovers, but frankly he sucks, his designs and concepts are confusing and he has no taste. I doubt he'll win!
it should be "Eli sucks". he never had a piece w/ fashion sense, quality and glamour... imagine a fashion icon wearing eli's designs... horrible!
prang mga basahan na inirampa!... puro dada.. wala nmang mgandang ginawa...
and to those who want eli to stay coz he's cute and wat ever gwapo factor! heller! this is not a pageant... this is a showcase of "talent" and not of "beauty"! be "reasonable" nman guys sa pgpili ng gusto nyo. Duh!
The played it too safe and too literal-they were supposed to be inspired, not literally copy the picture-
which is why I am dissappointed in the winner-but given the choices-I can see why immunity wasn't granted-and why that simple dress won-though I think Phillip's was better than they gave credit for though-
her dress was elegant and I don't think too simple, the detail in the skirt part is fabulous. It doesn't have to be crazy all the time. Some of the others are way too literal and he said if you take a pic of flowers don't make flowers and what do they do... oh dear, even after they were clearly told
Bakit ganun yung host? All she did was to agree with what the others are saying. Quoting Mich Dulce, "she's just blah!"
I really like how the judges are judging. Kailangan talaga ng mga designers yun, kundi puro tackiness ang makikita natin in the future.
I have to agree that Eli needs to work on the construction but he does have a good fashion sense. Very poor nga lang talaga ang execution. I do hope he'll do well on the next challenge, he's too cute to be eliminated! Haha!
Hmm. I know Eli has his supporters, as does Mara and maybe even Ava, but there is a significant difference b/w someone who has "ideas" and someone who can execute them, someone who can translate a concept into a design. Until you can do this you are a student of fashion (or art) and not a practitioner. Yes, okay maybe (maybe) Eli and Mara have interesting ideas, but they are not great, or even remotely good, fashion designers. They need more training. Eli's work belongs in a student fashion show
You write as if you are stating a fact. I think we just have to respect the opinions of the viewers regardless who they are supporting in the show. Hello? You are also a supporter of someone. Don't be so high and mighty as if you know it all. It is just a show, honey. Lighten up.
this episode is probably the worst i have seen in terms of design and workmanship. i totally agree with what the judges said about raising the level up. the designers are talented but their tastle level is not quite there. from the fabrics they use,fit and construction. they seem to overdesign, and using some really bad quality fabrics making them even worst.
with regards to eli, he's all talk but can't execute based on the 5 outfits he's shown. i teach at a fashion school here and also before in canada and i can say his ideas are nothing special and his execution is sub standard, and same to bo, ava and winnie. aries is pretty good to make a tailored peak lapel jacket in 2 days.
Oh, its the vision challenge? That's why they eliminated Winnie. I like her creation though. But going against Eli is tough. The guy has the making of a great designer. His "vision" is fashion forward. He needs help in translating his ideas into actual product. All in all, I root for him.
After watching this, all I can remember was that eagle inspired ensemble and that white vase. Those captured my imagination. Is there a website of the show? I want to read more about Ivan & Eli.
Just pure luck i guess. dapat nung 2nd challenge pa lang cya natanggal pero mas malala pa yung kay lorymer. Then on the 3rd challenge, lord was the leader kaya siya naging safe. Then on the fourth challenge, at least he created a good dress(not as fabulous as jaz or aries, but still good) now, si winnie ay mejo nawala sa concept. parehas lang sila ni ava na very lucky pag dating sa eliminations. haaayyyyzzzz!!! hope they'll be eliminated on the following episodes.
Wow, that was a great call from the judges. although I would be more happy if they gave Bo the boot. His was like ghostly in a bad way. More of a walking spit.
The effect of Eli's creation on the judges was no big surprise. For me though, he reminded me of Pierre Balmain's vision of fashion. He said that most people will reject an original creative idea, but it will linger in their brains and eventually be considered genius. Eli took a risk. For me, his is the most memorable.
I read that somewhere too. I remember the time when we rejected the grunge look og Marc Jacobs. But that look was haunting, it did linger in our heads. In due time, it became amazing.
The look that I remembered on this episode are from Mara, Ivan, Eli & Philipp. The rest are blurry to me.
I watch PR US, Canada and Australia and the difference in the judges is remarkable (although the ones from the UK are similar - no manners!). I don't believe that the model, who has no emphathy whatsoever, which means lack of maturity and personal insecurity on her part, should dare to say anything unless she can prove that she can do better herself. Being a model I don't think she can. And yet she dares admonish them as if they were children. .../...
dapat si eli yung natanggal., my god, kahit dito ko lang napanood sa youtube, pangit talaga. winnie would still do more., si eli hanggang diyan na yan.
It's a testament to how poorly they performed on this challenge that Jaz's very literal, very ordinary dress was selected as winner. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying they made a mistake chosen it. I'm saying there were no serious contenders for the win. As for losers: I agree that Eli's was worse than Winnie's, but I'm not sad to see her go. She has no point of view whatsoever. Her outfit was okay (nothing new) but it has no correlation whatsoever with her "inspiration." A sad episode.
this is so dumb! compared to that marshmallow/michelin tires mascot dress that Bo, i think that winnie girl made more justice on this challenge. the challenge was to get an inspiration and not get too literal. when she saw that painting she immediately thought of a jet setter. but i must say she defended the outfit poorly.
anyhow, so proud with mah friend jaz for the win. i asked her king sino nanalo but its 4 million dollars thats at stake if anyone spills the results. Go Jaz!!!
just still shocked why winnie went home instead of eli. are they blind? winnie's dress is very beautiful. it just had the wrong explanation of the interpretation. if she said that she was inspired to make a european elite woman wearing that dress then she sure will be safe.
Let's face it the judges have a tough job here because there is so much ugly/underwhelming stuff coming down that runway. I agree that Ava's was awful, but they had to chose b/w ugly but trying to be edgy (Ava) with the just plain boring (Winnie) and the amateurish (Eli). So much to choose from! Right now, Ava and Mara are safe because there have been so many designers with no point of view. They will become more exposed in the weeks to come.

K, in every PR adaptation, there is a sort of clever (maybe?) way of saying "you're out".
PROJECT RUNWAY US: "Auf Wiedersehen" Yay Heidi
PROJECT CATWALK: "You are the next fashion victiom. Please leave the catwalk"
PROJECT RUNWAY CANADA: "You just don't measure up."
PROJECT RUNWAY AUSTRALIA: !!! They don't have one too!
PROJECT RUNWAY PHILIPPINES: any suggestions?
I suggest: 1) You just didn't make the cut. OR 2. You just don't fit...the title of the Philippine's next top designer. :P
bs06je 3 years ago
"Snipped", a synonym for "cut"... as in snip the fabric. LOL. I don't know, but the "You're safe" that Teresa says lacks inspiration and too bland!
