when looking for a shiny starter in ruby, does it show the pokemon as shiny when you click on their pokembaal and it shows the pokemon, or do you have to battle with it before you can tell?

right now im trying for a shiny treecko and my emerald id is 35603, sapphire one is 06004 and my ruby one is 48791. how do you think those id's look?

@yoshi401 your emerald id has the best chance of a shiny because of its broken rng( random number generater) just do 50 soft resets on your emerald id, if you did 50 soft resets and still no shiny then pick another id and if you soft reset 50 times on the new id if still not shiny the go ahead and pick another id. keep reapeating these steps and youll have a shiny treeco in no time

@icaughtapokemonvid It's pretty high, so I think so. I've never really hunted for specific ID's, but I have tried is replacing the ID after 30-60 minutes of SR. That's how I found this one, but it could also be just pure luck. Here are the types of ID's you should look for: pyramids 12321, full house 22777, high 64566/low 00084, repeating 44443, full 33333. Good luck.

My pokemon got infected with Pokérus =) Have your pokemon ever been infected by pkrs before Z33?

When it was introduced, the Pokérus had a 3 in 65536 chance to be on a wild pokemon! I'm feeling so lucky now :D

@Rhynorune Wow...congrats! Yup, my pokemon got infected like 2 or 3 years ago when I first started to chain heavily. Yup, the odds are alot low than finding a shiny. You're very lucky to have been infected. I think that I was also infected on my 3rd gen games but I didn't notice it until my pokemon was already cured. Yeah, just keep your infected pokemon in your pc and it will stay with your pokemon. You'll be able to infect others in you party once you do decide to bring it out again. Good luck

Right now im SRing Lugia in soul silver. I was actually lucky enough to run into a shiny bellsprout the day I got Soul Silver. In Platinum I caught a shiny ariados on the 45th chain. So ive only caught two shinies so far, not bad for a noobie shiny hunter.

@broughboys Soft Reset. It's a technique of finding a stationary shiny pokemon. You basically save the game before you encounter the pokemon and if it's not a shiny version, just "Soft Rest" the game until it appears shiny. It can take thousands of resets, but if you're really luck, it might show up as a shiny on your 1st SR.

i have a question, how come in your description, when you say its a 1 out of 8192, why do you say or 8 out of 65536

Because 65536 is the total amount of random numbers the game draws from and if the game's random number generator pulls number 8 or less, it shows up as a shiny pokemon while you are playing. 1 in 8192 is basically 65536 divided by 8. Does that answer you question?

i have a shiny ditto in my Pokemon crystal file and now i am breeding to get shiny Pokemon i started 2 days ago and i have 2 shinys

just because you have a shiny ditto doesn't increase the chance of you hatching a shiny pokemon from its eggs. unless that ditto is foreign which increases the chances of hatching shiny pokemon to 1/2000 (this is known as the masuda method). but otherwise, u still have exactly the same chances of hatching a shiny with a regular ditto (1/8200). The fact that you already hatched two shinies may be just pure luck. hope i helped!

Actually, the odds were alot higher on the 2nd generation games (Gold/Silver/Crystal), when breeding with a shiny ditto, 1 in 64 chance of hatching a shiny.

Congrats on your shinnies doomsdoor, but watch out for 2nd gen crystal because the internal battery dies after a while and all the data will be erased and you won't be able to save a new file again until the internal battery is changed.

i know the batteries die i bought this one refurbished had a newer (maybe longer lasting) battery and every time the batteries are about to die the time slows down then i trade all my Pokemon to another file and get a new battery lol
