  • Wet Hot and Sexy blonde TEEN

    fastloverfun (dot) com

  • Beautiful video, warms the heart. the experiment succeeds and we are the richer for it, thank you johnny

  • I can't compare Public Image with Sex fuckin Pistols but they have some nice songs...like this for example.

  • i agree this is god

  • my fav pil song!!

  • This bleakness spilt into my heart in black 1979, in a wonderful uplifting way. The following year, more horrific than punk, yuppie wannabees Spandau Ballet announced that their music was created as an opposite to Metal Box, which they considered to be the most depressing album ever. To cut a long story short, I head from M Radcliffe the other night that the Ballets are to reperform. And thankfully, like me, Mr Radcliffe, the only true peer to John Peel, albeit he seems to be a duet, scorned.

  • which album this song is from? so far i have seen only a EP containing it.

  • It's from "Metal Box", a/k/a "Second Edition" in the States. Title is "Swan Lake" instead of "Death Disco" on "Second Edition".

  • I love how private and dark this video's atmosphere is.. Heartbreaking.

  • i love him.

  • HEAVEN

  • This song is about the death of his mother....

  • Brilliant!

    "Words are USELESS..."

How many times have you felt like that?

  • hereee is johnny!and he lets it all out.

    kimba vilis- peru.

  • pil at their best!love this song!

  • want to chat?

  • umm...no?

  • slag!

  • Keith Levene is amazing.

  • the lineup or Lydon, Wobble, Levine was the absolute best

  • insane song, too good ;)

  • yeah!!!!!!!!

remember to subscribe to me peoplz !

    fodderstomof- the home of pil!

  • lol :D

  • levene is f-ing great with making a guitar sound exactally how he wants..and thats rare nowa days!

  • I accidently had the volume low - I could hear the bass and everything and I'm, like, "Isn't there any words or something? I cna see his lips moving..." lol

And this is REALLY dark...colour wise...

  • the guitar on this is innovating.. Keith Levene..is guitarist that probably influenced The Edge (U2), Johnny Marr (The Smiths), annd etc.

  • one of the most underrated song of music history

  • probably the first post-punk band, got to give them credit, especially johnny, absolute legend, the jesus of punk

    x

  • Great bass line

  • I don't think Lydon gets enough (or at least the right kind) of credit. People are always trashing him and saying he's a poseur, sellout, what have you...But he really shaped the face of punk. He made punk, he has the vision, the words, the music just naturally.

PUBLIC IMAGE LIMITED is really groundbreaking stuff, in some ways more complex and developed than Sex Pistols, and they lasted longer. They really deserve more credit I think...

Well, that's at least a 16-year-old's point of view...

  • Thank you!

  • Lydon was really cute when he was young.

  • I dont think it was lydon that bought this sound about, he is more often than not influenced by the band members around him. Listen to some later tracks to hear how his styles change for the worse in my opinion.

He should have tried to keep this setup with wobble and levene together. It worked!

  • Does anybody know the difference between 'Death Disco' and 'Swan Lake'?

  • They're exactly the same song.........just different titles. 'Death Disco' was the title used on the "Metal Box" version of the album, while 'Swan Lake' was the title used on the "Second Edition" version. BTW, the song was inspired by the death of John's mother, hence the (original) title.

  • I also heard there were some slight edits in, for example, the intro and the outro. Thanks!

    watch her slowely die

    choking on her bed

    flowers rotting dead

  • I own the UK CD version of Metal Box and it's still called Swan Lake. Do you mean the original vinyl?

  • Swan Lake was used on "Metal Box", not Death Disco

  • Apparently they performed this on TOTP with Mike Read mumbling the song title....would love to see it...

  • music labels are for suckers

  • I agree

  • man, levine and his travis beans...

  • a band of beatifics

  • JOHNNY=FUCKING HERO LEGEND

  • johnny te amare toda la vida

    toda la tuya

    toda la mia

  • Jah MFin Wobble

  • uhhuh!!!!

  • 100% totally cool John Lydon stage antics. I love the eyes and the passion! Fucking hell!

  • CLASSIC PUNK! This is "the real thing"!

  • They certainly moved ahead of the game...gotta give that to Lydon.

  • First time I have ever given PiL a shot. Not bad at all. I usu. find the music of Mr.Rotten too profane.

  • I love the way Jah Wobble always sits on a chair in music videos, whilst playing a bass.

  • Jah Wobble? "Only with pints a few in me."

  • When PiL first started playing live, Wobble had to sit in a chair because he couldn't really play the bass standing up.

  • PIL = Jah Wobble. amazing.

  • public image limited, now that was refresing

  • Check out John Lydon's book "Rotten: No Blacks, No Dogs, No Irish".

  • At :36, Johnny looks like he's right out of 30 Days Of Night. And did Jah Wobble get out of that chair yet?

  • Right - Society fails - Fuck the evil constructs...

  • Brilllllliiiiiiant....................

  • One of the greatest songs ever made, along with We Are All Prostitute by The Pop Group

  • Its almost a velvet underground song

  • Jah Wooble The Master Of The Bass.

  • yeah-what a ghost-gig ! haunteeeeeeedddd

  • jah wobble is the bassist

  • This is seriously eerie, really fucking intense. I'm glad I'm not high, watching this.

  • Ain't it? The bass player is the creepiest.

  • Go and get high and listen to Bauhaus doing bella lagosi`s dead.

  • The Cramps Garbage Man is pretty creepy too. Very reminiscent of the Night Of The Living Dead.

  • This was a very different and original song in 1979, when the second generation punks were trying to be John. Meanwhile here was John being himself.

  • skinny and young

  • best ever PIL

  • awesome,many thanks!

  • <3 this song!GREAT GREAT GREATNESS!

  • dance music for drunk people ! lydon is a artist!!!!

  • RIP Tom Snyder

  • Great band, great track. He has one eye looking to the east and the other eye looking to the west. Whatta' gimmick!

  • God,even all these years later, PiL are still so cool, it hurts. Why doesn't anyone do material like this nowadays? Brilliant, just brilliant.

  • Lydons eyes are pointing in different directions. cor, wish I could do that

  • Awesome stuff! Thanks for posting it. PIL 4 ever!

  • He's so hot here it hurts lol.

And Jah is quite fuckable as well...

  • Jah's demented smile at :54. Epic.

  • Fake.

  • The album version (titled "Swan Lake") is seriously one of the most disturbed songs I've heard.

  • written for his dying mum

  • Atmospheric vid...I love the lighting and shadows in the video....And at the end, Keith and Wobble pretending to be 'The Shadows'!..hahaha...I'll get me coat.

  • Just amazing!! One of the best songs I've ever heard...and John is incredible in the video...god I love him...I wish I could have been to a PiL or a Pistols' gig...!!

    5 stars...keep feeding my Lydon obsession :P

  • Oh, that stare! It's eerie, and I'm no quite sure why...

Great song. Nice mutilated guitar from Levene. Wobble's bass is scintillating. And Lydon... Self-explanitory. Decent video.

  • John got his stare from a bout of meningitis as a child. The quote below is from his website bio...

"The meningitis would almost completely ruin his memory (and also be the cause of his now infamous stare)."

  • He was also quoted as to why he stared so much, becauase he couldn't see the audience properly and putting 2+2 together what he said on 7 ages of rock, needing to keep a eye open for flying bottles etc LOL

  • early creation talant from pil

  • What a great video - is that Richard Dudanski on the drums?

  • i think it's martin atkins, richard dudanski did play in a great group called the passions, their 1981 "30 thousand feet over china" is great!

  • it's definitely richard dudanski in this video. watch the video for "bad life" if you want to see what martin atkins looks like.

  • I listened to this band all the time in the early early 80's - this group is EXCELLENT

  • This is how i want to see The P.I.L and LYDON.

Greenday band and fans should watch this video and then they should ask themselves, where did it went wrong with their music & punk attitude.

  • one of the best ever... john lydon is a genius.

  • god he was pretty handsome back then...

  • no kiding! the pukes that call themselves punk nowadays, have not, will never have anything close to what it takes to be punk! grrrrrr.

  • PIL at it's PEAK of perfection!! FUCKING BRILLIANT!

  • Brilliant

I know John Lydon will probably hate me for saying this but :- fucking hell i love him here - and it is a bit of a genuine shame that PiL didnt -in this form -continue a little bit longer in this form because they were so fucking good!

    Anyhow genuine head-nods all around.

  • hum! la disco for ever
