Great pub, great music. And the quality of the musicians you hear in some of these places, like Taaffe's, Tig Coeli, the Quays, is simply astounding. Love the atmosphere.
As a traveller, if you're ever feeling homesick or are looking for english-speakers, seek out the local Irish pub. There's always one, whether you're in Prague or Tokyo.
soo fun! here in malaysia, i was lucky to find a few people with whom i could have itm sessions with (and trust me, it's rare!) we meet up almost weekly at a pub, and the pub owner's irish, so he's very welcoming of us, and its great fun, but nothing beats a huge session like this, hopefully i'll save up enough to go to ireland someday!
We used to have a session like this at the Story Bridge Pub Brisbane, Saturday afternoons. Then the Muddy Farmer at Annerley. Brisbane. Thursday night at the Irish Club is still cooking. check out the Folk Rag Brisbane and enjoy. Keep up the good music sessioneers, we love you.
You are so fucking stupid you contradict yourself... you talk about child murderers, yet you idealise your coward scumbag of a forefather william of orange who after the so called battle in 1690 killed thousands and thousands of INNOCENT irish men women and children. now fuck off.
@CzechDetectingChap - I can't jam, I'm not musical. I couldn't play even play two sticks if I tried! I just love the atmosphere of a place where musical minded people turn up and jam, and I could have a few brews, and be happy untill an inconsiderate table or chair runs into my path...
we were there the week before, had a great time, nice that there is an afternoon session at Taafes! We'll be posting a video of our session soon! Check it out!
I think this might be Taffe's. Sorry. They are across the stret from one another and I was a bit drunk when there. I think Tig Colli is biege inside....
went to this place last year. shamefully there was a guy 'dealing' out of the pub and his stash was in the toilet cistern in the gents. music was good tho but left a bad taste.
god bless IRELAND!!!

Here in America, Irish pubs have fat old white men sitting completely silently eating chili and sipping light beer

I'm jealous. Here in Australia, the pub isn't a communal gathering place. People here go to the pub to get pissed or play the pokies.
If there is live music, a cover charge usually has to be paid.
A person can't just rock up to the pub with their guitar, violin or banjo in tow, expecting other likewise minded people to be there so they can Jam.
I'd rather be in Ireland.

@verticalsmurf Mate I know what you mean, its the same in NZ mate. Every pub you go to everyone just wants to get pissed and fight and be eggs.

@verticalsmurf the Czech Republic is a lot like Ireland, if you come here you can jam, no problem, I do it every week with my slovenly mates.
