impressive man. I play the Viola da Gamba. I don't have a skill like you to make an instrument.... However, 'Gambe' or 'Gamba' means 'Legs'... tennor Gambas are held between legs....I don't think you can hold your instrument with legs.
How do you hold your instrument? it would be pretty hard to play it if it doesn't fit between legs??? you are amazing!
It's a type of guitar used in playing jazz, and its soundboard is a little curved. A lot of them have electric enhancements, but I was just thinking that the body design is a little closer to a viol on that count.
Man that's greet, but one question. Why didn't you put the viol bridge on the guitar bridge. That may sound even better, because that's the place, where the bridge supposed to be. Then you coul attach the strings on a cheap jazz guitar string holder. But so te scale-length will get longer. Please try it! I would like to hear it.
EH eh...
Instead of working backwards, you should see the bowed guitars that have existed for hundreds of years and sound significantly better. Check out the Arpeggione or the Viola da Gamba.
This thing would sound a lot better with a bridge more similar to an actual bridge. That bridge is way too thick. Pretty cool though.

I saw this when I was modifying a guitar I rescued from the dumpster. Now that I'm done, I had to come back for another look. Very nice work.

Wow nice work. It saddens me that you can't afford the real thing! Can't you sell your car or something?
