consider that it has to load the statrup programs, the L2 cache might not be big, and the FSB might not be fast. oh and the memory speed, add on loading all the sounds in vista, and the theme you have applied, and you can have a very slow PC.

all what matters is the hard drive and cpu plays a role, just get 2 hard drives and configure them to raid 0 and you will get around twice as fast startup

because it will be able to read data faster since you have chunks of it stored on both drives,

usually the motherboard wont matter, but how you configure the bios does, the better the motherboard and the better the bios is configured is going to determine how fast it can get threw the bios before it moved on to the OS

That was I was thinking. Why post a video of a Eee PC running XP and a Toshiba running Vista. Of course XP on the Eee PC will start faster, less processing on a smaller hard drive then something with the complexity of vista on a bigger hard drive with like 5 times more programs. Not good comparing the two. He should have just used a Toshiba with XP to see which would start up. I still think the Eee PC would start up faster however.

It's still possible to find old copies of Windows XP but Microsoft officially stopped selling it in I think March this year, they reopened sales just for netbooks and I believe you can't just buy the disk anymore, it can only come with a netbook. Though, it does come with a restore disk, so there's not much stopping me from using it on my desktop PC if I wanted to run XP.

To answer your question more to the point, you can't download Windows XP, the only way to get it is from a CD.
