  • nein, es ist eine Spitfire

  • Hi,

happy to supply pics, will take some this pm and get them to you. My flying buddy has the same set up as me and has just changed props to a 19x12, reckons it gives him unlimited climb. Haven't seen yet so can't confirm but he's usually spot on.

First thing you will need is a new cowl without all the cut outs!

  • @wheelsdown1 Hi, yep already have a brand new cowl. Colour doesnt quite match the model so im going for a full re-spray. Im cutting out the cockpit floor at the minute. Going to put a full cockpit in as i have a great RAF full bodied pilot which is 1/6 scale. Did you bother with a retractable tail wheel? Im not sure if its going to be worth the effort.

  • @phippsa3 didnt go for the retractable tail wheel, maybe in the future but it looks like a project (over winter?). Can I suggest that you junk the plastic exhaust stub offerings from YT and replace them with a set from Mick Reeves mk9 kit. you need to mount them from the inside so cutting a slot becomes necessary but they look the dogs dangly bits. Will try to upload some pics of mine, get back to you

  • @wheelsdown1 Yep i have a great set of exhaust stubs cast in resin i bought of a guy on RCMF. I plan to mount them from the inside of the cowl. Should help with cooling to hopefully.

  • @phippsa3 nope can't upload the pix, do you have a email address I can flick them to? By the way, I fly at Wisley just off the A3, not a million miles from Croydon, if you're ever passing drop in.

  • I have an electric YT mk14 along with ny flying buddy. Currently running an eflite power 160 via a phoenix HV160 esc and 12cells with a 19x12prop. Probably not the best motor but awesome performance! Good luck with the conversion!

p.s. you'll need to get the lipo's as far forward as possible for the c of g, and I have the on board nicads positioned at the back of the wing cavity.

  • @wheelsdown1 That sounds like a nice setup you have there. I dont suppose you have any pics up on any of the forums of the conversion. This is my first electric conversion and i dont want to make a mess of it. Im going to be running 10s 4000mah. I should get roughly 9 minutes of mixed flight at about 12lb thrust. Hopefully it flies ok. Any pics of your setup would be greatly appreciated.

  • Couple of great moments there, well done chaps. I know how hard it is to fly formation, you need to have three sets of eyes which can take the fun out of flying altogether but that was worth it.

That looks like a YT International Spit but what's the Hurricane?

    Both cracking looking planes.

  • @wheelsdown1 Thanks, yep it was great fun flying together. The Spit is as you say a YT one. the hurricane is an old Mick Reeves recently converted to electric. The Spit is now getting the same treatment..

  • First time flying glow and electric models together so was a little lose at first. Best formation stuff starts around 3:40
