In fact, you rarely ever saw wrestlers engaging in that unless it was before a major match at a PPV event. As for how you can pump people up before a match, wrestlers like Bret Hart didn't have to. Bret could just walk out to the ring and people would lose their minds in excitement. The Undertaker and Ultimate Warrior were similar as well.

Sure Bret was one of the best technical wrestlers ever, but he was never in the same league as Austin, Hogan, or The Rock when it comes to getting fans to give a crap.
