When you talk about your people, you mean your ancestors, the Chinese pirates?
It is documented extensively, that's the only reason why you don't try to deny it.
That's what's barbaric. The Laws enacted by the Spanish Government were actually a model of humane and respectful treatment of the local population. You will not find anything similar in any other colony at the time, European or Asian.
@RafaelMinuesa our ancestors were not chinese pirates, we are Visayans we were of a warrior culture as the spaniards described us when they discovered our Visayan lands, people and culture. You are just jealous!!! As the spaniards discrided us as tatooed people and the spaniards never seen a Visayan without gold or tatttoo when discovered us Visayans and they even described our hospitality.
Who ever said your ancestors were Chinese pirates?
I was talking to someone who is of Chinese ancestry and who feels very important because of that, not about the Bisayan people. What's wrong with you? Can't you read properly? Certainly writing is not one of your strengths ...
And besides, we were talking about Luzon, not the Bisayas, Limahong never made it to Cebu or anywhere near there.
AND I NEVER SAID ANYTHING AGAINST THE NEGRITO, LOL IM ACTUALLY ONE OF THE SEVERAL FILIPINO WHO WERE PISSED AT THE MISHAP BETWEEN THE GOVT AND THE NEGRITOS, they are human just like us, nothing makes them any less human than us...
Anyway, I believe Filipinos are a mixture of Asian (Chinese and Malay), Hispanic (Mexican and Spanish) and Pacific Islanders. Among others.
well thats the best spanish i can remember, i been learning spanish for 3 years and im okay at it. if i had any mistakes correct me please, wish to be fluent. ya i been just goin thru some identity crisis thing XP,
@RafaelMinuesa The identity crisis IS due to the basterdizing that Spain did to what our true ancestors brought us, when Spain took over and trashed our culture, thats when the first identity crisis started. Don't try associate us with something that we were forced please... It's insulting.
That's a complete lie, very easily debunked with indisputable historical facts. The Spanish government went to great lengths to respect the culture of the native population and enacted very strict laws to prevent wrongdoings from happening. Google "Royal Audience of Manila" to learn more.
Spanish settlers did learn the languages of the local population, Tagalog, Bisaya, etc, and even printed and published several books on those languages. Google "Doctrina Cristiana", for example.
@RafaelMinuesa Hmm, explain the mass killings of 30,000 chinese in kingdoms of Tondo and Maynila... It's funny, because you're obviously protecting the spanish, they did not go to any great lengths to protect our culture, only some spanish were researching our culture, even several spanish from actual spain have told me that this is true, some of their ancestors burned a lot of our culture, deeming it pagan, in no way did they ever "made great lengths", only some spanish with good heart did.
Another lie. It was the Law, enacted by the Royal Audience of Manila, the highest tribunal of the Spanish Empire with jurisdiction over all territories in the Philippines,
So it wasn't only meant for "some" Spanish, it was the meant for everybody enacted by the "good hearted" Spanish government.
By the way, did your ancestors try to protect the local population in any way? Afraid not, they just kill them and slaved them.
@RafaelMinuesa Spain was not perfect, but to make you feel better, they weren't alone, Im pretty sure we both agree what the Americans did, a lot of Americans do not doubt what their great great grandfathers have done either, and then there's the Japanese, which thank god Spain was already out of the Philippines, otherwise whoever's the ruling govt. thats a spaniard over there would get beheaded, or thrown to get tortured. Japanese disliked westerners at the time
Agreed Spain was not perfect, but compared to what the US, the Japanese, the Chinese, the Malay, Moors, etc did to the local population, they were by far the ones that treated the natives best, and protected them as best as they could.
So no, it does not make me feel better comparing it to what your ancestors did, quite the opposite.
Additionally, let me advise you to do some research and cite credible references like I did, mindless rantings just won't do, I'm afraid.
You must be either be referring to the original inhabitants of the Philippines, the Negritos, who were exterminated in great numbers by your ancestors, who also, needless to say, trashed their culture completely,
or perhaps you refer to the US military forces that exterminated your ancestors in great numbers, apart from prohibiting the use of their native languages or any of their cultural expressions.
@RafaelMinuesa Actually the original inhabitants were those of the Tabon Man, not the Negritos, they were actually just another wave. And no, I was referring to the Spanish friars specifically who trashed our kingdoms and ancestor's culture, no matter how advanced we were or how wealthy the kingdoms were, they were destroyed or scrapped and used just because we had a different religion... Even other spaniards took account of our ancestors advances, not calling the kingdoms chiefs.
They were the original inhabitants in the sense they were there before your ancestors arrived, in the same way your ancestors (assuming you have no Negrito or Spanish ancestry), were there before the Spanish took over.
Main difference is that while your ancestors exterminated those original inhabitants in great numbers, driving the survivors to the mountains, where they were constantly under threat of further killings and slavery, the Spanish government did protect them.
@RafaelMinuesa And also, whatever happened to the people of the Tabon man? Lol, you don't really know whether I have ancestry from them or not, or whether the Negritos also killed them off, or other settlers did. You have no way of telling what my actual ancestry is, only that I am telling you now since most of my family is from Luzon, it is a chinese-malaysian-kapampangan mix, and thats only my moms side, my dads side is far far wider.
So that's what I mean, you're likely the descendant of the Chinese pirate, Limahong, who massacred the local population in Parañaque, so much so that "the sea in front of the barrio turned red with their blood", only to be saved by the arrival of the "good hearted" Spanish forces.
His forces also raided several other places across Luzon and mass murdered the population. But that's OK with you
Did you Google about the "Royal Audience of Manila". It was the highest tribunal of the Spanish Empire in the Philippines.
The Audiencia was directed to exercise care that "the said Indians shall be better treated and instructed in our Holy Catholic Faith, as our free vassals." This was in conformance with the requirement to exercise great care in suits involving the local population, respecting their rites, customs, and practices to which they had always been accustomed.
Appointed local government officials were ordered not to dispossess native chiefs of their rule or authority, and on the contrary, to appeal cases involving them without delay.
The fiscal, who acted as a prosecutor for the government and was the most important official directly connected with the tribunal, was also instructed to "take care to assist and favor poor Indians in the suits that they have, and to see that they are not oppressed, maltreated, or wronged."
More lies, there were no "mass killings", except for those that your ancestors did to the original population, who apparently you don't consider as humans, not worth even mentioning.
Since you mention Chinese, there is a true documented episode in which the Chinese pirate, Limahong, massacred the local population in Parañaque, so much so that "the sea in front of the barrio turned red with their blood", only to be saved by the arrival of the "good hearted" Spanish forces.

Se palpa la influencia española en Filipinas. El país es como un primo lejano. Esperemos que se una a la familia hispana.
