is Oreti Beach where the beach race scenes in "the fastest indian" were filmed? Oh, and thanks for a great little vid. Never lived in Invercargill but wife and I wouldn't mind in our retirement, as long as the house faced north, double glazed and well insulated!!

Brilliant video !! Thank you for sharing this with us. I live in Scotland and I absolutely love New Zealand. Was there in 1983, 2000 and 2008. While I was there last year I visited Invercargill and I was well impressed. Nice wee city, people (as I have found ALL Kiwis) were welcoming and extremely kind to this traveller. I have been all over the world and New Zealand is like no other. I am so looking forward to landing at Auckland Airport on October 18th 2009 for a return visit.
I despise Invercargill, I lived there 10 years of my life and its the most remote & boring place on earth. Queens park was fun the 1st time but shit the 2nd - 20th time my parents took me there - but hey it was the only place to go back in the 80's
Great stuff! I learnt to drive on Oriti beach back in 1986 :) Now living overseas but great to see. Been away 5 years & I notice the NZ accent a lot more & it cracks me up! flipp'n oath.
Okay I couldnt see the whole clip as I couldnt wait for it to load... But was amazed at how much Invercargill had changed since the last time I was there in 1991.
