This engine was not discontinued or cancelled. It's used in the 2011 Land Rover Range Rovers. If it succeeds there (which it is), then it'll most likely be used in the F-150.
i talked to a ford dealership owner yesterday about fords diesels and he has heard about the light duty diesel F-150. He informed me that it will be coming out in 2012 since GM will be putting a light duty diesel in their 1500's. Everyone knows that Ford will have to compete with that. He did not know if Ford was going to make the engine or not.... This is just what I heard, I don't have facts!!!
car and driver magazine says the 2011 F150 will get a 6.2L SOHC 16 valve 407hp 434 ft lb gas motor. that will be highest power ever in a half ton truck :) ford trucks rule!
I sure hope this is a true statement! All that power with that new tranny would be great! My 5.4 3v is making 350 tq to the wheels which is about 437 flywheel..with small performance high lift cams..Now, imagine what that 6.2 will be doing with that same mod!
well that pissess me off i've been waiting for this truck and motor combo for a while and now its not happening! thumbs down to ford that would have been one nice f150
I tink that a 6.7l engine of the super duty is a littel bit over kill for a half ton pick up truck.... I think that they need to put a 4 or 5 L max in a hal town because of the extra wight of the diesel
@fordgt700hp 6.0 was not crap... 245K on mine runnin like a champ.. 6.0 used in commercial applications its not uncommon for them to see 400K. dont always go by what wikipedia tells u.
the 6.7L should be one of the best diesel engines out there. the 7.3L is the best diesel engine ford produced. it'll out last any cummins or duramax. once they started dealing with navstar it all went to shit.
certainly it should increase sales, and seems almost a must to offset GM's proposed diesel, if it gets into the mid 20's for MPG it will once again be a huge hit for Ford

Maybe it is a good thing because navigator has built crappy pieces of crap engines for ford now ford can do it them selves.

ford never produced a 7.3, navistar did, and a cummins still has alot higher mileage ratings
