Recent loss by GIC is an indication that PAP should be kicked out for robbing our CPF money. CPF is retirement money for the elderly! It should be invested in low-risk products to overcome inflation and then a bit more, that's all! That's what many other European countries do. How can anyhow use it for speculation, and then when lost, up the CPF draw-down age? Just by this alone, PAP should be kicked out!

Yes, the govt should be *mostly* responsible for the welfare of its people. That's because it is not possible to rely on family in our westernised society - small family. some not married. some no children. some children die earlier than parents. Some unfilial etc.
Welfare will not bankrupt Sg. PAP has collected enough money via disguised tax such as inflated hdb price and with-held cpf money at low interest and even our town councils have hundreds of millions to speculate in stocks!

Wealth must be distributed from the rich to the poor! In extreme case, this lead to communism which is no good. But this extremism cannot be used to justify another extremism - distributing money from poor to rich!. Sg is unique among all capitalist countries, in this respect. Eg. elsewhere, rich is tax 30-40% while poor is tax much less and no GST for essentials eg baby milk powder. Here, rich is tax 20% and the shortfall is made up by GST that the poor has to pay, on everything they buy!

But, end result is that highly educated Singaporeans are leaving - they would rather pay higher tax in USA/OZ because 1. it's an insurance for welfare during hard time, 2. it's the decent thing to help fellow humans, 3. democracy is impt etc! A finance minister must allocate spending correctly to the varioud ministries. Our health care spending is 4% of GDP. That's ridiculous, compared to other 1st world countries which spend 10+%. Our doc/patient ratio is not up to std etc. So much more budget must go to HEALTH.
MCYS needs more too. We don't have enough social workers and most are not qualified (no Masters degree - common in other 1st world country).

Budget for PMO/PSC mist be cut drastically! We are paying $40,000,000 to our political holders and(?) perm secs. That's ridiculous! We should not be competing with private sectors. If you are not a doc/lawyer, and in fact, has never had a medical/law degree, you should not be paid millions on the strange nonsensical idea that if 20yrs ago, you had studied med/law, you would be earning millions now!
