Once again another fantastic fishing vid from ROADSNAKE, always among the best on YouTube.
I do have a gripe with the use of the word "River" to describe the Oak. I know this bogus description was hatched by the Chamber of Commerce types many years ago to compete with other regions for tourists but for the locals to call it a "river" is laughable. Kind of like putting Cadillac logos on a Neon, who are you trying to kid? The fishing is great for a few weeks a year but a brook/ creek is no river.
hey Bill..was just thinkin of you...one of my niece"s boyfriend"s daughter:s got these'toy"s" called"ORBY"S''...YA EVERHEAR OF EM? THEY LOOK just like SALMON EGG"S! WAS THINKIN THEY MIGHT WORK N JOKIN W? HER i"M GONNA STEAL THEM N CATCH FISH ON EM! THEY"VE got the same consistancy as salmon egg"s dude...check em out!
Nice video. I've been to oak orchard a couple of times now. Hope to go again this fall. I use to fish salmon river. Love the oak. But that wasn't a 30 pound salmon. Maybe a 20 tops.
@polish23 theres access at the lot near the dam and downstream below the archers club . check out narbys .com website or stop in the tackle store there - the old broad that runs the place can set ya up and send ya in the right direction
Seeing that first dead salmon, I can just piccture a guy in green 50 dollar waders with the stiffest oldest rod and a rusty treble snagging kings and cutting the thing open afterwards. Always good to see people like you guys fishing them fairly. Good Job on this video.
Ohh crap, i think ive seen you a couple times up here, great river to fish. Been going up there for about 8 years now..back then there was 20 people in the river max, now its crazzy since its been getting so much publicity. Keep up the videos theyre awesome.
@donkey315 as far back as i can remember its always been crowded -even more so back in the day when snagging with weighted trebles was legal - glad they at least outlawed that crap.
@BassAnglerMike33 maybe baitfish maybe insects but the guy at the bait shop said the white ones imitate rotting salmon flesh- i just rolled my eyes lol
we always get them on sacks -can see them go out of their way to crush em.
many anglers out there think they don't bite and you have to lift or snag salmon but then again they probably never use light line ( 6lb test ) ,small natural colored baits & fluorocarbon leaders
yeah i fish the salmon river a deep hole and we cant see them so we get some foul hooks .. but some good hooks to . ill have to try the egg sacks thats what im using now for stealhead but ill try them next year for salmon thanks
If you guys are ever fishing in Rochester, come to upper falls, right on the river, salmon fishing is unbelievable, and even in the summer, i catch some good cats, bass, walleyes right there on the Genesee river.
Another nice video guys! I look forward to those. It must be nice to live in a part of the country where there are such diverse fishing opportunities.
8:25-awesome !!! ! WHat was the powder you used? did you make it or buy it? what do you just dip the spawn sac's in it/ ( sorry so many questions all the time) hurtin" for some good fish action here in the Cleveland area lol fished all day and Monday @ e.55 marina and nothing-a few gobies on mon. yippee!
way-2-go guys me and my two year old daughter watch it together she wants to know if your owie is ok lol said you need a dora band-aid Five stars all the way
i have watched this 3 times, great video, and well done. you guys make me want to go out for some steelhead, but the creeks are so low now. the worst part of fishing is not catching fish, it is waiting for the creeks to become fishable.
AWESOME- AS USUALL!!! IT'S ALWAYS THE BEST MAN!! DO YOU do anything special with the egg's? I watched your other video about tieing the sac's and would love to try it! hopefully get lucky enough to catch something here! been really unlucky fishing here-only 5 nice ones all year! I wish I could have the luck I used to have fishing in WNY.! are the fillet's any different after you strain the egg's ( if you eat them?) k.i.t. bro-any advice would be great-I always "rate your video's " the best!cya
Orleans county in new york . i thought everybody knew this spot lol -there were people from all over the country fishing there - even some from Europe and Mexico
another great vid 5/5 that was a big salmon and on 6lb to boot i use 10 lb line on the nipigon river smaller salmon but much faster current you guys rock so glad to see you back making vids
wow i dont know how people fish with less than a 6lb test, i think the lowest ive used is a 30 lb braid or 20lb fluoro, maybe ill give 10lb test a try next year
so gross

in that one foot of water you can actually catch fish? what bait are you using?
brownieman101 2 years ago 6
it looks deceiving - the water was maybe 3.5 to 4 ft out where the fish were holding - i couldn't see the trout till they moved to grab the bait

under lower light conditions do the fish bite less? and under these circumstances does it matter if you use flurocarbon?
wikiwikiwias000 2 years ago 6
actually they bite best at night by the river mouths.low light conditions you can get away with heavier line

Give some 1 kilogram fly leader a try, hehehe..
Sometimes with the water so low and the sunlight out those smaller pound test are necessary.
