  • I would think that a few of the old classical composers would have liked the end bit.

  • I don't like their music, but this Abba song I really like ;)

  • I love the reference to Dallas which was huge at the time. There were rumours that Agnetha was going to replace Victoria Principal as Bobby's lover but they never materialised. Shame.

  • In my opinion this is the most beautiful song did Abba. It's just beautiful.

  • The whole Song with the Video was and IS a Masterpice. The Scene in the Theater was so symbolic ,that this was the definitive end of ABBA.The Four not give each other even a look, then the Lights go off ,and 3 of them disappear in Darkness.

Then the Part where Frieda sung Opera like in the Background,,almost like a crying.-

The Video shows very possible the Autumm in Sweden...then followed by the long long Winter Darkness full depressive feelings.

One of the Best Music Pieces ever !!

  • why wasn't this song massive, never understand that, has to be their best ever, really makes you sit and think, so true how meeting someone special can make you see things in a different light, the video goes so perfectly with the song, GREAT

  • Who is that stunningly hot man? I want to marry him.

  • @cuntzillamcgonigle it's Jonas Bergström, borned in 1946.

  • Wow this is quite different to what they usually do as this song sounds depressing but so beautiful. I love Abba one of my fav. bands :D

  • Beautiful song. This kind of Sweden doesn't exist any more.

  • A gnetha

    B enny

    B jorn

    A nni-frid

  • Just love this song and video, has a French feel about it, the lyrics of all Abba songs are like poetry, love Abba.

  • What about this woman? The most beautiful voice ever in this universe, and her name speaks for itself about the rest

    A - adorable

    G - gorgeous

    N - natural

    E - enchanting

    T - tremendous

    H - hot

    A - angel

  • Take a look to the sky at 0:23 , beautiful birds passing like a dream.

  • This song is great, even the day before it came

  • All those who say the best by ABBA i agree. How ironic it should be the final song recorded by them.Emotion personified.and i defy any person not to be moved by the intensity of the lyrics and voice. Why dont we all over England and Europe inundate our radio stations with requests for this to be played?Do you think we could put it into the charts for the first time?--i think so,lets do it guys

  • @juicybrucey1

    Agee! Agree!´! Agree!!!

  • @nyhamnen Consider it started from today who else is in

  • @juicybrucey1 "We all over England and Europe..." Hahaha thats a british thing to say. But its a bit ridiculous to be honest.

  • Bravissimi ABBA!!!

  • How sad in some way that ABBA ended their career with this stunning masterpiece. How great their last album could have been! This is probably my favourite ABBA track of them all.

  • @Flowerbranche Yes, you're so right - this song has something unique about it - I think it was maybe ahead of its time, It's my favourite too. Sadly Sweden is not recognisable now.

  • Amazing clip.

  • PLEASE PLEASE COME BACK!

  • I wanna know what compelled Benny and Bjorn to write a song like this...because this is just...soo emotionally charged. And what I don't understand is, how come there's soo much detail about a person's life before he/she met the significant other? It's just ART. That's missing in today's "artists" there's no depth to music anymore, no actual HARD work being put forth. There's voices and artistry being published but not promoted like back then.

  • @tipofmytongue1024 Could not agree more-that's what I miss about today's music-have you come across the various mixes of their unfinished and unreleased "just like that"? Similar style exquisite in every way.

  • @tipofmytongue1024 Yes I agree. also I wonder Who wrote the lyrics and the day before "who?" came? Was it Bjorns new girlfriend or Benny's? and if it was Bjorn's then would that been awkward or difficult for Agnetha to interpret? Or was it all water under the bridge by then? I sometimes wonder how much input did Annifrid and Agnetha have on the lyrics and direction of the songs and also I wonder how much money the women made given that they didn't write the songs?

  • @1966buttons

In 1982 both couples were divorced. Benny and Bjorn wrote it all. But Agnetha and AnniFrid certainly had their fair share singing it that beautiful. The emotions from the divorced ones, guess we will never know....

  • This has always been a favourite ABBA song of mine. Also, when I was little, the more sensual parts of the video made me feel like I was doing something oh-so wrong :P

  • say no more

  • one of the most exquisite, yet underrated ABBA masterpieces, they had it all, style, talent, divine music. This is why ABBA will last forever for future generations to know what music was once all about

  • was good time at this since good with all .. pure soul .. the natural life ... fresh air ... even the love sensibility ...Esam

  • i used to hate the thought of abba..i just heard this song on the radio...needless to say..my opinion has changed..whata tune

  • "I must've made my desk around a quarter after 9, with letters to be read and heaps of papers needed to be signed, I must've gone to lunch at half past 12 or so the usual place"......

why do I need to know this information? lol just kidding I love ABBA

  • I just love ABBA, I've loved them ever since I heard them for the first time - more than 20 years ago. I just can't understand why this music masterpiece was poorly accepted by their fans. According to me, it's one of their best songs. I'm married, and I love my wife, but somewhere deep inside I sometimes dream to one day be that guy on the train...

  • @spiczpl We think it was poorly accepted but actually was voted the 3rd best song ever although only charting at about 30ish.

  • nuostabu,pasaka,klasika

  • Incredibly great song -- the chills start as soon as it does, and never stop until it's over.

  • love this song. weird how the video was just Agnetha.

  • I hereby declare that Agnetha has the most beautiful voice in history AND that she is the prettiest, sweetest and natural sexiest woman of all time!! ... if you have doubts, take a trip around the world of ABBA and I can only say... if you look, you can see it ... if you listen, you can hear it ... if you have an open heart, you can feel it ... this woman has at least knocked me down, and I'm down for good :)

  • @aluzzz000 i agree. she was almost unattainably beautiful. and they didnt plaster the make up on in those days like they do now.

  • @1966buttons so true! natural beauties are very rare today

  • @aluzzz000 Mamma Mia the movie was on the other day :) Still its a shame Abba never reformed though they are all so mature now I suppose it wouldn't be the same. I never saw them live in concert - I was about 15 when they broke up and I guess that concerts were only in London not near to Liverpool. My parents wouldn't have taken me anyway. Boo hoo!

  • Oh my angel, I love you Agnetha. And I love this song so much. This is my most favourite song of ABBA. It keeps haunting me everyday.

  • The story of this video is so similar to a story of mine that I can not belive it ...I knew a girl in the train station and we do the same way to go to work every day. We just begun to speek one to each other...twice were married but it wasn't a problem...the atraction that we felt .... well, the story finally was end; I'm married and I've a boy; I'm happy but many times I just rememeber this lovely part of my life.

  • @MrAngelblanch you should watch the movie 'Falling in Love' with Meryl Streep and Robert deNiro. You will like the story, I think!

  • @MrAngelblanch I know the feeling. I received this song from the only man I have ever loved .Unfortunately he decided to end our relationship when his wife came to work in the same enterprise. Still there is so much attraction between us that by moments we can't help falling into each other's arms. He's the only one who can make me feel a real woman, I treasure every second I spend with him, looking into his eyes, laughing of non-sense things, sharing a coffee and just being us.

  • @MrAngelblanch Is an amazing coincidence your story and this video. Congratulations. It's a beautiful story.

It’s funny but I had no sense of living without aim, the day before you came...

  • @OldFanMr I cant agree more

  • @ToaPice Nice to meet someone who understands Russian and loves ABBA. Thanks.

  • @OldFanMr haha yeah

  • Jó benne a basszus

  • Agnetha looks 10 trillion times better than Nicki Minaj chilling there on the side advertisement

  • every time I hear this song, I get so emotional I can't breathe or talk for fear of crying like a little baby...so much emotion and talent... <3 ABBA. forever.

  • Sad Song

  • 3:47 why so serious ... funny

  • The most beautiful song ever

  • love the lyrics,whole story

  • I Think Agnetha's voice in this song is just amazing-this is their last song-just beautiful.*

  • @CeLestLiLith not their last song, I think. Because after this one came 'Under Attack' also with Agnetha as the lead vocal.

  • @VidarHD

You're right that The Day Before You Came was not ABBA's last single release, but it was the last song they recorded together. It was recorded and mixed on August 20, 1982. Sound engineer Michael Tretow said the mood in the studio was sad and Agnetha recorded her track with the lights off.because everyone there knew "this was the end".

  • @CeLestLiLith is this actually their last song??

  • @jimmysluv321

    as a band, yes

  • this song has the taste of 1980's dieng love.young hearts feel first cut badlly...

    goodbye youth.

  • labai gr\eras klipas ir muzika , pamokantis ir susimastymams

  • @MattPopOfficial We can safely say you are 'bi' now ;)

  • @Seanus32

Ha ha, in this case: yes. (well actually, I was already in love with Frida from the very beginning)

  • This song must have been inspired by Brief Encounter!! The time-check narrative is straight from the movie's voiceovers.

  • Pa nije ni u Nisu ali u Boru jestee...I to nije fer...:/

  • @urkee34 Sta nije fer i sta nije u Nisu? lol :)

  • who is that guy ? some swedish actor? he is so sexy

  • The best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Omg i wanna live in Sweden!! Right next to Agnetha..:D greetings from Serbia, we have just had first snow! :)

  • From snow-covered Russia I send greetings for snow-covered Sweden.

  • it is utterly swedish. haunting, austere, beautiful.

  • Volvo and ABBA, just representing the very best from Sweden :)

  • I am Liverpool born ans bred

Tourists ask me what is my favourite song thinking I will give some beatles number. I just say "The day before you came " and they look puzzled.

  • It's alright but really it is only ABBA.

  • she was so beautiful x

  • very well

  • It was and it will always be my very fave song from ABBA !!:)) BEAUTIFUL !!

  • a masterpiece indeed

  • Whoa. I certainly like the message of the song (although it has no chorus) :D It just says how boring a one's life is before that special someone comes along to brighten the next days... :) :)

  • fuck of justin----Abba is the greatest

  • cea mai frumoasa melodie a formatiei abba

  • heaven door ıs open only to elohısm !

  • So haunting and beautiful

  • 12 people are either crazy or have no emotion.

  • This is one of Abba's finest ever songs yet it was one of least successful chart-wise. It's one of those rare songs that still sound as good today as it did back then!....but then again Abba have a number of songs that fall into that category. You can keep your Beatles - Abba were far better!

  • @maverick283 I agree wholeheartedly! Beatles were pants compared to the operatic blessings of ABBA who I think were sound-craftsmen!!! Their songs sound like massive landscapes, like the ones you can only see in Sweden probably.

  • @maverick283 ABBA were good but get real..ABBA are not in the same league as the Beatles and if you think they are then you know nothing about music

  • @rogbow69 WRONG

  • @rogbow69 WRONG ABBA are far better than the Beatles

  • @bob17ification its up to individual taste. what you should say is "i like abba more, or think they are better than the beatles, that doesn't make you right or anyone who dissagrees with you any more so.....its all individual taste, thats why there's so much variety in music...thankfully!!

  • @rogbow69 My dear everybody have a different point of view about music...and then so i support that my beatles cannot be compare with abba then that is a fact...they are different but it doesn´t mean that beatles are better than abba or abba better than beatles, in fact my preferance goes for abba and then so doesn´t mean also that they are the best in the world just a different way to enoy the music, and remember that beatles is not all about music.

  • @maverick283 I KNOW SO SO FAR AWAY abba IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD

  • @maverick283 So true

  • @maverick283 Totally agree, it's a bit too sophisticated for most of their fans I'm afraid, but I think it's their best ever. As for the Beatles, I've always found their music quite banal, there are many many better bands from their era and later.

  • @maverick283 you're right, it's a great song. their nonteenybopper stuff is usually far deeper. However, I wouldn't be so quick to rubbish The Beatles.

  • @billmaricel I'm not saying the Beatles were rubbish - far from it - it's just a 'personal' opinion that i think Abba's songs were far better than Beatles. In all years gone by both Abba & Beatles will always remain the 'big 2' :)

  • Abba's finest song.

  • This song gives me goosebumps!!!

  • 0:58 I can see she was getting red :D

  • 0:41 Why did he decide to get on other railway car, while he met her there again? :D

  • Comment removed

  • The man she smiles at looks like a young Ray Lonnen (Sandbaggers, Harry's Game). I don't suppose he is - he looks too old in Harry's Game (1983) to have been young enough to play this a couple of years earlier. But very like!

  • @irondogon

The man in the video is long-time Swedish actor Jonas Bergström. I don't believe he's any relation to the lawyer of the same name who last year was dumped by fiance Princess Madeleine of Sweden after he cheated on her.

  • @nskid Thanks!

  • @nskid Off topic, but Princess Madeleine is beyond gorgeous. It's beyond comprehension that any man would cheat on her.

  • Abba at their best, the melancholy is amplified by the time that has past.

  • It's so ironic that as ABBA was reaching the height of perfection (this song being such a prime example), they were in the process of breaking up.

For anyone in a committed relationship, this song resonates with reality. Think now: what was the day like the day before you met your intended? It was probably pretty typical, wasn't it?

  • aaah Europe!

  • Who is that HOTTT man? My God- on may back for him!

  • My song, his song , our song.

  • Agnatha, I love you!

  • My all time favourite Abba track. thank you so much

  • the Blancmange version is also worth a listen:

    watch?v=wFNs_-LGgQs

  • That steering wheel..Fake!!

  • @arid595 you watch too many CSI series friend :-)

  • All you have to do leave memories behind..... It hurts

  • One of the great ABBA-songs, so it is.

  • she's blonde .. she's adorable .. she's sexy .. she's extremely beautiful .. she has the most wonderful voice I've ever heard .. she is AGNETHA, the ultimate woman and the eternal dream!!

  • Agnetha sings like an angel....

  • The Abba last song

  • The last song from ABBA.

  • VOLVO+AGNETHA=THE BEST FROM SWEDEN :) Greetings from Serbia

  • I do wonder, though...how is it that it only took her an hour and fifteen minutes to get to work but three hours to get home? I wouldn't think that a commuter train would be subject to traffic jams.

Or else, it was one hell of a line at the Chinese place!

  • @XPBInthenight Gee, maybe public transportation isn't so great after all! And we Americans thought it was the answer to everything. Maybe Agnetha got offf at the wrong station ;-) Ha!

  • 00:53 to 1:05: wooooooo, so hot.

  • yes!!!

  • yes!!!

  • This is myfavourite ABBA song.

  • @felixolshanetzky me too. Abba is such an amazing group. i like most of their songs. actually I cannot think of any abba song i don't like.

  • @felixolshanetzky By FAR the best, an absolute classic for all time. Nothing written at the moment can compare to this.

  • Agnetha is not just one of the world's most beautiful woman of all time, she is also one of the sweetest and most down to earth of all stars ... it's impossible to not love her!

  • One of the most mature songs ever made by ABBA. Love the fragile way in which Agneta is singing - her voice is breaking almost. I was 15 when this song aired for the first time, and did not understand what it meant back then - but I felt it!

  • Peak Sweden.

  • AMAZING SONG! Very haunting of the heart strings! WOW! Gives me chills!

  • Most under rated Abba song ever, just love it.
