thanks dude. I bot a cheap c diatonic in confusion. So as to try it out. I get all the natural notes on it. But when it comes to bending i get only an f # and an a flat in the 2 and 3 draw. I tried real hard. Is it cos of the cheap harp or do i have to work harder. Pls. . .
cool video. Can you help me to choose a harp? I'v got d money. But i'm confused. Was planning to buy a c diatonic. But then i'm having 2nd tot's for a cromatic one. I'm a guitarist. Don know much abt harps . Are there cromatic harp for every key ? Which cromatic should i buy to play in all the keys and at least two octives? Pls help
@dcalstring Depends on what kind of music youw ant to plkay and how much time you have to learn. learning curve is longer with chromatics, and they're mostly useful for jazz and classical. Diatonics are the preferred instrument for folk, blues, rock, and anything else where the harmony stays close to one scale.
It takes practice. On the diatonic, you go from blow 5 to draw 6 twice, then do a quick turn starting on the bent draw 6 reed; the phrase is draw 6 bend, draw 6, draw 6 bend, blow 5, draw 6 bend. You can hear on the recording that it's not executed totally cleanly, and that's because it's not simple.
Hi, Rick. Just down-tuned 10 blow with a little bit of Blu Tack. Took no time. Reversible but the stuff stays on indefinitely. No chance for nasty operator error. 5 draw countrified previously. Know of anyway to reversibly up-tune reeds? Thanks, JH
Richard that was cool...it was a little grittier with the 2nd position 10 hole... grittier is interestingly different. Don't forget as Sigmund Freud says you can't spell analysis without using the word anal ;)
Great stuff Richard! I like this idea. I have recently retuned a harp to a Kit Gamble tuning which Carlos del Junco uses. I saw Carlos recently here in Germany and he says it is kind of a one trick pony but like you said it is very fun to try some unusual altered tunings. Please keep it coming as it is very interesting material that you are providing us. All the best, Bruce
correction, while 3draw i get only as far as natural a. I read somewhere that i hows down upto a flat

Don't know how to up-tune without removing metal from the reed...
Where'd you put the Blu Tack--tip of the reed?
