greatest english player of all time. I have to say that gazza he is playing the "old game" by this i mean he played because he enjoyed it something many players lack today they just care about money.
@Rivera9287 indeed, very true. I love watching Messi week in and week out. Once a generation type player. And how old is he 23 or 24? Imagine when he is reaches his peak. Crazy.
I'm not a messi fan but he is the greatest footballer of all time. He is not only fast and knows how to pin point his shots, but he is the greatest playmaker out there. Gazza
Messi just doesn't do it quite like Gazza did, not that Messi isn't as good or better a player. When you are considered world class there is really no player that can compare to your skill set like for like. Gazza dribbled like a world class #10, bullied players like a dominating cb, moved like a silky smooth winger, and shot like a top class #9. Top shelf footballing.
@spaceman1979 your confused. Messi is the best player on the planet we call Earth. Arguably, perhaps the greatest player the world has ever seen. I suggest you watch him play every week like myself. At least in 15 years time you won't be saying 'Damn, i wish i watched more of him' like most youtube users do now about other past greats like Zico.
@spaceman1979 well it could been seen as your implying that because of what you said. Gascoigne was good, very good. But Messi is at the top with Pele, Maradona, Cryuff, Zico, Eusebio ETC.
The goal against Luton at 1:05 is just ridiculous. He goes through the centre-back pairing like Robert Patrick goes through the prison bars in Terminator 2.
24 hours after man shitty and howard manc webb robbed us i still feel like shit but just watching this and remembering we had the greatest english midfielder ever play for us will help lift the gloom . Thanks for the memories Mr Gascoigne
I don't give a monkeys what the press or anyone says about Gazza...............I love the guy for showing us real passion for the game of football, humour, a will to win like no other, dribbling skills like no other, vision and passes like no other, classic goals and classic haircuts!!!
If today's ego driven players had half of what Gazza had then they would be world beaters.
im a spurs fan for 20 years and no one has come close to gazza in that time , modric klinnsmann and ginola were quality but they did not have what this boy had . Stay well paul and remember the world loves u .
Serious talent, serious skill, serious problems in life. the piers morgan interview didnt do him any favours. he made serios subjects seem like a joke, eg beating his wife up. DICK
Paul Gazza, wow! Im my oppinion the greatest player to play for England ever. Could of come from argentina, his style of play is so different from the usual English way. Subtle enteertaining, and changes of direction. Creative, pass and move always wanting the ball and available. You can just about hear the air cutting as defenders, clutch at nothing, and gazza cuts away.I love you gazza, I gave up on English football aged 11 the day hoddle pulled the Kebab stunt on you. Forever an inspiration x
on piers morgan the other day gazza was talking about a match he played for everton against sunderland after consuming 4 bottles of wine, 2 treble brandies, 14 sleeping tables and a cigarette - and somehow managed to walk away as man of the match! does anybody know of any footage of this game??...maybe its in this video but i can't seem to find it!
With Gazza, Shearer, Le Tissier up front i think Mourinho can rules world of football for a decade and more. Sadly England coach that time was too bad.
It might be hard for the younger generation to appreciate, but for a time this man was the greatest player on the planet. And most of that time was at Tottenham. The world stood up and realised he was class including Alec(x) Fergurson who recognised it but couln't grab him from Venables.
Im an Arsenal fan. In my eyes Paul Gascoigne was the most gifted and talented player England has ever produced . England needs a player like this again. But i cant see it...
@doh1959 true point about amazing talent but the rest not true. Firstly he was nt sent off in Semi Final-he was booked and secondly he still produced some great football after that event as most of this video shows. Certainly did nt crush him!!
@doh1959 - Hoddle leaving Gascoine out of the 98 world cup squad didn't help but then Gazza had some serious issues but this time. Despite this he should have been in the squad imho. What a player though.
I'm a Celtic fan, but he was a different class. Great compilation... him skinning the 2 defenders with one move and scoring at 1.24 was stunning skill.
good stuff, nice video mate. my fav (non footballing) gazza moment was when he gave the ref a yellow card. i was at the game. good sense of humour too.
great vid, one of the best I've seen on Youtube. Gazza was my favourite player and the best I've seen in the flesh. Hope things are working out for him.
when people go on about how Gazza was a waste of talent who didn't fullfill his potential, what their really saying is they are upset that no one as talented as Gazza has come around for England since and they are taking their frustration out on him. they are taking it out on him because England have never looked like a proper side since he was playing in the team.
Gazza left Spurs because Spurs were in great financial trouble. Shame, but his best days were at Spurs no doubt. Was never quite the same after he left.
Am a Luton fan, and remember that goal on the plastic pitch. The whole crowd just applauded, it was that good. Fantastic player, and feel privileged to have seen him play for Newcastle, Spurs and England.
He could have on England the world cup if it wasn't for the cruciate injury... what if the same had happened to Maradona or Pele?
Truly inspirational talent. That goal against Scotland is one of the legends of British football... who else remembers where they where when he scored it? Great memories of a great player, thanks! :)
Have you ever seen a player dribble it through a defense with such ease in the last 20 years? Messi and Zidane come to mind but personally I think Gazza's ability to do so is even more impressive than either.
@dbmcmillan .are you high or someting?zidane was never known as aplyer that could dribble thorugh efenses with ease.try ronaldo before his injuries in inter milan and barcelona,he dribbled through defenses like they werent even there.gasgoince was a wonderful player but lets get back down to reality shall we.
best player ive ever seen , a hero to me , im a gers fan but im sure i speak for toon, spurs and lazio fans when i say ......gazza is a genius and britains finest player
Looking back I think if he signed for Man United and not Spurs it would have helped him. With his illness London wasnt the best city to live in. And I think Fergie would have nurtured him a lot more. Also he wouldnt have had to leave England and go and sign for a bigger club in Italy. I cant think of an England player I have enjoyed watching more than Gazza in the last 20 years. True genius - get well soon mate - we all want you fit and healthy again.
@yourtubed1000 hard to say really. Fergie turned his back on Paul Mcgrath because of his drinking problem and didn't have much time for the likes of Beckham who had an outside life either.
@manozobe Yeah. Impossible to say, but just an after thought. But when I think of London at that time - Arsenal with Adams & Merson etc, Spurs with Venables as a coach and Chelsea non existent in terms of being considered a team worth signing for - both Arsenal and Spurs had issues. London was a wash full of drugs and partying. Gazza went to a massive City which added to his demons. Fergie would have laid down the law. George Graham might have helped, but he wouldnt have gone to Arsenal.
Im an Arsenal season ticket holder, but I think its fair to say that Gazza was an England hero for ALL the fans. Unlike Ashley Cole, John Terry etc everyone liked Gazza. A real talent and a real bloke. You could tell he loved the game more than life and probably himself. He lived it and breathed it. If only every England player had this passion for the game. Hopefully Jack Wilshere will be there in his early 20s. This video makes me happy and sad due to his current fight with alcohol.
manozobe, as an Arsenal fan I'll say this - except for the fact that Gazza wore his shorts too short, he was pleasure to watch. He was a great footballer and a funny man to boot.
P.S. Say it quietly (as a Spurs fan I was privileged to have seen gazza at his unstoppable best playing for my team) but I sometimes think to myself it might have been better if Gazza had chosen Man United over us. Instead of having his head turned at a young age by the Showbizland of London, he would have been kept under Fergie's protective wing (and iron rod) and allowed to quietly develop his game the way that Giggs did. I think under Fergie he would have reached his huge potential.
@MrHokeykokey Hate to say it but i was thinking the same thing but you never now he might of gone of the rails anyway, we'll never now. but he is a legend!!!!!
I honestly think that if Gazza hadn't been so fucked up mentally he would have developed into one of the all time greats. Before he did his knee in he was on target to develop into the worlds best footballer of the 90s. The reason he was so great was that he combined the natural ability of Roberto Baggio with the winning, hungry, never-say-die attitude of Roy Keane. It's very rare to get both those attributes in the same player.
It was that old "Madness/Genius" chestnut striking again.
The goals against Aberdeen right at the end of the compilation were in what was effectively a League decider. TV commentator, who really had it in for Gazza, said toward the end of the first half that he had 'nothing left in the tank...'. Not great timing really as shortly afterwards Gascoigne took a hold of the game and scored all three Rangers goals. It is a privilege to have seen him work his magic.
I'll always remember what Danny Baker said on the radio the morning Hoddle dropped Gazza and picked Robert Lee for the 98 World Cup. He said something like: "Nobody's saying that Gazza is fit enough to be an automatic starter for the England team, but If England are drawing 1-1 against Argentina with 15 minutes to go, and you look over to the bench, who would you want to see stripping off ready to come on: Robert Lee or Paul Gascoigne?" My thoughts precisely.
we talk about leo messi's balance but this clip shows gazza had just as much talent. imagine if gazza had beckhams attitude, stiil love ya gazza such a joy to watch just a shame we didn't see more.
we talk about leo messi's balance but this clip shows gazza had just as much talent. imagine if gazza had beckhams attitude, stiil love ya gazza such a joy to watch just a shame we didn't see more
A true entertainer!! Gazza should be up there with pele, Best and Maradona. He encompases everthing that is match day for a fan. A forgotten gem of the beutifull game.
Fantastic,he was only half the player he was after his knee injury, which nearly finnished him, still came back and was one of the best midfielders in the world
I'm an ardent Spurs fan and this brings back memories of how brilliant Gazza was. It's so good to see him doing what he did best, and to see him so HAPPY!
Great video. I was waiting for a decent Gazza vid. Good job!

@Loosecrewproductions

The best Gazza comp there has ever been. Loved watching it, watched it several times already.
Hopefully no Arsenal and Celtic fans come on here making nasty comments.
