I think these prisoners will have a better chance at being productive when they're release (if they ever are) because they're being treated with dignity. Treating someone like an animal makes them act like one and I don't want a caged animal back on the streets so they can hurt someone again.

Well to all those who believe everything you see on tv, I was in this prison for 5 years. Of course they show you the honor cottage where you have to prove yourself for years to live there and be at a certain security level to live there as well. Trust me, it's not a nice prison. O so when this one girl was stabbing her girlfriend with a radio antenna I can look at the nice walls and everything will be ok. It's not a maximum security prison either.

@fabmeeme What about education to equip the inmates with a skill when they are set free? I used to live in Watts in California and have always been appalled at the huge number of felons who did not get their g.e.d.s or have a job skill. Their numbers are ridiculous. It would be terrible to "free" someone with no way to support their families.

Well they did say it used to be a college. So yeah, its a dorm room....living it up no. They are on a strict shedule and basic freedoms they don't have. As far as prisons it is they Hyatt Regency. Either way it goes I'd rather live in my crappy 1st apartment than know what its like in ANY prison.

I was in a prison sort of like this one. Its minimum security, so if you're a misdemeanor OR you have served most of your time in a maximum security and you have moved down, you will be at a place like this. Regardless, its still prison. Its still lonely. And the people are still crazy.

its minimum security. I was in a minimum security prison sort of like this, but not quite. We had to use the bathroom side by side, NO PRIVACY WHATSOEVER. Just because it doesn't look bad, doesn't mean its not.

This is SCI-Cambridge Springs... it is a minimum security prison where most of the women are completing a drug program and will be paroled upon completion... when they initially go in to the PA DOC they go to SCI-Muncy where it is just like the men's DOC facilities
