  • Will be good. Been in them a few times already though even when the organ is playing (with ear defenders of course).

I helped Kevin a bit in the early stages when he was installing it back in early 2006. My how time flies, doesn't feel like 5 years ago since we first started it!

  • I think its a marvalous arrangement of the Second Waltz, powerfull.

  • Stuart, we should do some vids of the organs in the actual collection some time :P The Wurli's need some good vids uploaded too.

    Carl

  • @LanchesterEarlyMusic I'd gladly do some videos of the collection, it's up to Mr A though. :-)

  • @StuartMulcrow I shall prod him at the next chance I get :P You at Pickering ? I'm looking forward to seeing what organs they have around there.

  • @LanchesterEarlyMusic Let me know what he says.

I sure will be at Pickering too, look forward to seeing you there. :-)

  • @StuartMulcrow Oh good good, will we be piloting Oktoberfest then ? :P I think someone said thats the one that went down there.

And I shall have to get you to take me on a tour of these organs at Pickering, remember I am but a Wurlitzer man :P

  • @LanchesterEarlyMusic YEs we have Oktoberfest there with stage.

Will be a pleasure to take you round the organ line up, would love a tour round a Wurlitzer one day though. :-P

  • @StuartMulcrow Will show you round the ones at the museum if we end up having a recording weekend there some time or something ! Quite clean and airy chambers, so easy to walk into :P

  • 0:05 My Old Man's a Dustman. Arr.Steve Clarke.

    2:09 Second Waltz..

4:43 Down Forget-Me-Not Lane. Arr. Steve Clarke.

  • @petermackett37 Second Waltz - Arr Jan Kees De Ruijter

  • @petermackett37 I think The Second Waltz is by Shostakovich. How long has Jan Kees been marking books?, the one playing there looks rather stained! When I was at Dorset I saw them putting in a book that judging by its appearance looked like a rather old one, perhaps even a Marenghi book, it had an arrow painted at the start to make sure it was put in correctly lol! The arrangement of 'Down Forget-me-not lane' sounds similar (though not identical) to the one on Chris Nash's 60 key street organ.

  • @ceredigio Jan Kees started arranging in the 1980's as far as i know,I will ask him when i see him, yes, the arangement is the same as the Nash organ.

  • @petermackett37 The Nash organ says 'Wellershaus' on the front, but it is not a Wellershaus at all!! What is its true history? The Wellershaus at Thursford is one of the few genuine Wellershaus organs in the UK as is the 54 key organ formerly owned by the late Dennis Barrett of Norwich (where is that one nowadays?)

  • @ceredigio The front,Trumpets and Trombones are Wellershaus, the rest was built in Holland but i don't know by who,the ex. Barrett organ is now owned by Johnny Ling who is rebuilding it.

  • @ceredigio Just to let you know, the '2nd waltz' book is only about 3 years old. The 'staining' you see on it is the varnish that is used to protect the holes from wear and tear.

  • @ceredigio At this year's Dorset i heard a medley (i think it was at least!) on this organ that included 'deep in the heart of Texas', is that a Clarke and Watts book?

  • @ceredigio There's two tunes on that book, the one you've mentioned and before it is 'South of the Border'. Both were arranged by Arthur Prinsen.

  • I always think of the Derek & Clive lyrics when I heare this tune!
