I'm only 19 and first started watching basketball in 1998 (when I was 6), and I still love this song. If young people like the NBA on NBC more than the NBA on ABC/ESPN, then that's probably a sign that the NBA should've stayed on NBC.

I think NBC is still interested in this theme.Before any of this,you probably would think NBC wouldn't want to bring this back if they could because that's what most networks would do:Bring in a new theme song.The only exception is when CBS lost NFL rights in '93 then returned in '98.However,i think if NBC could have the new contract or get NBA game broadcasting rights in 2016 (or earlier if terminated prior to expiration,which is possible),i think they would still want to use this music.
