Not even close to Shakespeare's original meaning of this scene. The ghost was trying to pursuade Hamlet from taking revenge. The ghost was also indeterminate in form. Shame.
Does the ghost say 'quicksilver'? Is he suffering 'Ironman syndrome'? Is he really dead? Is the solilaqoy 'to be or not to be' about what to do afterwards? philipnute com
He speaks way too quickly. It's really good when he slows down and takes his time though. It would have be
en phenomenal if he had just slowed down a bit. As it stands now though, it doesn't even begin to compare to Patrick Stewart's rendering in the David Tennant version, which is too bad, because I thought this was a better movie overall.
@Oberonjames In this case, the movie with subtitles is better. I watched with subtitles, since I am not very fluent in English. Anyway, sometimes I had to rewind the movie a bit to read the subtitles, which are too fast.
The only reason I like this interpretation of Hamlet is because the actors had to memorise long stints of verse, and that's pretty hard to do with major roles like Hamlet.
@deoxys152 Oh,how sweet you are- you are surprised that a film could be made as long ago as 1995 ( wow! 16 whole years!!!!) and yet still be ' a great movie'. Darling, great movies weren't invented in your ( obviously very youthful) generation.Ang, guess what? your generation didn't invent invent sex either.
no disrespect at all for Hamlet or anything, but at 0:43 Hamlet is looking like "This is the ultimate high right now, or is this really happening to me right now?"
SCRAMBLED!!!!!

As much as I like Kenneth Branagh, since he directed this I feel like his choices for the ghost's voice/style were unfortunate.

This is so overexaggerated and gay... meant for the stage not a lame rendition
This studio is so fucking desperate for money that instead of looking at some talented screenplays they milk old material till kingdom come

This rendition of Hamlet has to be the most amazing combination of modern film making and classic literature, bar none.
