She showers him with gifts but he refuses her, because he realizes that she is not a Christian woman but a troll she is desperate about her failure, because winning Sir Mannelig would have "freed her of her torment" of living as a troll :0

A suggestion [absent from the first, and probably older, verses] that she was a woman cursed to look as a troll; a cursed lifted by love, re. Sleeping Beauty, Beauty & the Beast, the Prince Charming turned into a frog... For me 'smells' of a later addition: the 1st verse clearly presents her as a 'troll with a lying tongue'. Though I suspect that 'troll' here (and in other old songs) means 'pagan / witch', not some non-human creature.

@zekejammah16 Hi, I'm a big fan of symphonic metal. There are actually many different bands that follow this genre. Personally, I think the following bands did pretty good: Within Temptation (the first 1, 2 or 3 albums :D), Nightwish is quiet good too. Epica always stick to symphonic metal. Sirenia, the newest album wasnt that great, but ok. Hope that help :))

He reject her because she's not christian and he believes that she's a devil's criature.
