  • i CAN'T REMEMBER THE SONG NAME!

  • @Simplistic7SalvatioN i got a good set of plugins for mixing. FL studio do have vst support you know. so getting tight mixes is no problem. but since im always programming the midi by using my mouse and clicking it all in is a big reason for me to stick with FL. programming midi in ableton is not as smooth.

  • what were you playing for your first piece?

  • Was this filmed with a pork?

  • lol youtube in 2007 240p.. this program is awesome though'

  • @Simplistic7SalvatioN i started out with cubase vst32 then FL3-10 with cubase SX3 nearby, im professionally educated in Cubase 4 and have worked a little with cubase 5 and nuendo. i've tried Live 8 but havnt learnt it good enough yet, but im concidering that eventually i might use it. but i still prefer programming midi and drums in FL since the sequencer and sampler are so fast to work with. the main reason for me to look for another DAW is that FL studio loves to crash alot when using Kontakt.

  • Hey ppl! can i play in this program in real time on piano using just my pc keyboard? PLZ answer!

  • 240p...this is shitty

  • Autumn Leaves! :)

  • wonderfull sound!

  • Comment removed

  • is this good enouth?

  • let us hear it man what the hell stop talking

  • I use this vst! is not bad!

  • too much talking

  • Does it run well to record with Logic?

  • 15 gigs? com on I am already using like 120 gigs on NI products lol isn't there like a 1gb piano i just want a decent basic sounding piano that wont eat even more of my hard drive space. -_- it does sound decent though

  • i hear this song a lot, what was the song called that you played at the end with accompament

  • The sound quality to this program is very impressive. Is it possible to implement its abilities into FL Studio?

I have written a few pieces---you can see them at my channel if you are interested---and think it would be brilliant to add these types of sounds to some new pieces!

  • skip to 2:13 if you want to hear some playing

  • does this work with cubase le4?!!

  • the symphatetic vibration is clearly missing. its no differnet than any other piano sample

  • Modartt Pianoteq- maybe not as perfect of a sound...more like "too perfect"...but it's only 25 meg or so.

  • best sounding piano outside of EastWest instruments

  • Great review, man. It was comprehensive and still short. Just the way it should be. Nice.

  • does this work with fl stuido???

  • fl studio is my favorite. event edit like a mutha f-er

  • The sound leaves much to be desired to be frank. It sounds like a recording from the 40s and it's not because of the piece the guy is playing or because of the sound quality compression done by youtube. There is really a great difference between a piece recorded with this piano and a real, professional piano recording. I own Kontakt and there is the same "problem" there with piano sounds, especially when listening on high quality speakers. I have to go on searching for a good, real piano sound

  • 15 gigs of piano samples? Gotta try this

  • whats the song in the middle?

  • 0:53 0:54 oh god i came..

  • OH PLEASE DONT STOP PLAYIN

  • 2:16 whats that song ?!

  • stella by starling i think!

  • any advice on where i can find details on that style of playing? i play mostly by ear but a few of those chords are difficult to determine or create when you dont know the structuring of them. thanks

  • The track he's playing at the end of the video is called "Autumn Leaves", a jazz classic. There are a lot of MIDI files for that tune, so you can check the structure there ;)

    Cheers

  • That's jazz, look for very twisted chords hehe... minor or maj 7ths

  • I don't care which piano is better than this. Do you honestly know what the quality of digital pianos was only 10 yrs ago? Please stop complaining and make some music, you really don't know how good you have got it when it comes to audio software and this sounds great.

  • do any one know some program to make rock music?????

  • east west quantem leap ministry of rock

  • @zFilmuAktoreczka we use reason for the synths, but for rock music, you need a guy with an electric guitar and some pedals and of course and amp + a bass player + a drummer + a singer, and youre ready to go! =D

  • Where can I get hold of that drumsound?

  • Love it!

  • KEEP PLAYING!!!

  • dude , what are you playing? that sounds so sick

  • @BillyIvan the song that starts at around 3:00 is "Autumn Leaves" a Jazz standard, absolute classic man!

  • ivory the best. 11 gb is too much for ivory. But it worth it

  • hey.. what is ivory? piano vst?

  • Yes, Synthogy ivory pianos.

Total 40gb samples for 3 pianos

German D, Yamaha c7 and Bosendorfer

  • 40gb.. too much too much :D

  • awesome quality!!!

  • Just want to addanother comment that while Ivory and Reason have the better piano sound, Akoustik is far superior for live playing and cutting through the mix. Only use Ivory for studio work or recording. Akoustik takes about 15 seconds to load a sound, while Ivory and Reason takes about 2-5 minutes depending on the sample.

  • Can Ivory be used stand alone, or does it work with Ableton? What do you use it wit personally?

  • What's your pc specs? It takes about 5 seconds when I load a sounds to my Ivory, I'm using it with reaper.

  • I got that fixed...had to upgrade my ram...now the programs load like they should..Now I can run Ivory and Reason Pianos live with good results. I tweaked Akoustik Piano a bit to get it to sound better, but I still prefer Ivory and Reason.

  • I'm fortunate enough to have 3 great sample libraries: Akoustik Piano, Ivory, and Reason Pianos Refill. Akoustik is good, but it is pretty weak and thin in the mid ranges. Ivory has the most realistic sound for a grand piano. Reason Pianos are right beneath Ivory in terms of realism, followed by Akoustik. However, the order is reversed for playability. However, Akoustik uses less RAM while Reason and Ivory use a lot. For the best of both worlds, use Reason. For the best sound, use Ivory.

  • Hey man I have a delimma. I can't play by ear very well but there are piano songs that I hear all of the time that I would LOVE to play. IS there a software that you can use that actually "listens" to a piano song and interprets it into an actual sheet music? I've spent HOURS online searching and I'm running out of options.

  • Nope. Practice.

  • no, you have to do it by yourself

or check previous works on those songs

  • reason or Native Instruments??

  • is this available for macs

  • its available on win and mac

  • yes it is.

  • fl studios got nothing on this

  • ur a dum dum... fl studio can run this vst..... it is more of a host application that can run these kind of things and let u make music with them...

  • @DesoloZ why u brining up that? 'fl studios got nothing on this' although fl isnt very good this isnt a daw so what u said makes no sense at all

  • @danny4572 Dont underestimate FL studio. The default plugins and soundlibrary sucks yea but, no experienced producer uses default stuf like that anyway. if you install some professional vst's and build up your own awesome soundlibrary you'll see that FL is in several cases far better than any other DAW when it comes to audio/midi features and tweaking. and the workflow is incredibly fast compared to lets say cubase among others. FL9 supports sidechaining and VST3 now aswell.

  • @DJayFreeDoo Yeap...Fruity loops is great...some people say ,,it sucks, it's for children..." or something like that... i use fl just as a host for my vst's...so i don't see the problem. i also work a lot with nuendo, wich is almost the same as cubase, and i have to say, it's a very good software...but for composing i use fl because i got used to it...if i compose in nuendo it's exactly the same, but it takes me a little longer....

  • @DJayFreeDoo Couldn't agree more. FL Studio has a great deal of flexibility, is fast and almost universal in it's deign. I love it.

  • @DJayFreeDoo It supports filter following?

  • @DJayFreeDoo that's so true!; i rather fl studio too, if we want we can make a wonderful soundlibrary, i can open KONTAKT with fl studio, and the library of it, it's really amazing and complete!

  • Well, i havent installed my EWQL Pianos yet, due it takes 230 GB :S

  • How much HDD space is needed for the library?

  • wanna say when I installed it was like 80GB or so. VERY much worth it, though...I was able to uninstall nearly all of my other plugins

  • it actually needs about 15GB

  • 0:43, he says it man... 15Gb :\

  • how does this piano stack up against the new AUTHORIZED STEINWAY from Garittan or IVORY from Synthogy

  • The Authorised steinway from garritan in my opinion is the best and its the first steinway library that Steinway has been impressed by. It's a must buy and the onlin help is superb =]

  • I have not heard anything better yet than Ivory's german D. It's not the real thing, but so far it seems as close as it gets. It also loads quickly and I get 2ms latency on my laptop without clicks. Love it.

  • I've got a question about the drums at 3:03 - is it some kind of vsti or it was recorded in studio?

  • Comment removed

  • Man. I gotta say, your videos are all really good. Nicely done, every time!

  • great demonstration

  • Will this run as a plugin on my logic I use mac,and does it have to have a harddrive or be stored on the harddrive I have the space.

  • Hi, if anyone has just gotten the new Motu Electric Keys or is thinking about buying it i recomend watching the first video response before you buy.

  • I didn't know this was on "star search" , I thought i was doing a product review.

    Chris

  • lol, i didnt mean to sound like a smartalec , but i guarantee you that you will sell more of these products if you focused on showing people how good they sound . because when it comes down to it, thats going to be the decision maker, how good and cool it sounds . good vids by the way

  • lol ur so dumb. he's not selling it. its a huge company that sells it. he's only doing a review. and reviews consists of TALKING ABOUT THE PRODUCT DUMB ASS!

  • Review =/= Demonstration

  • It's a bit of both, but it's not a sell or anything. He's telling us about the features and what it can do for you...

  • @floridamusiccompany Don't worry about it Chris, those of us serious musicians appreciate complete reviews, not little sound samples like these kids want.

  • @floridamusiccompany Hehe, nice!

  • @floridamusiccompany Piano Kid100 just got burned!

  • @floridamusiccompany great video. I`ve had this program for a while and i heard a few new things about it just now. Thanks

  • Autumn leaves!

  • Hey! Does anybody here, knows the name of the jazzy song at 3:01 ?? Thanx!!

  • same here was about to ask the same question... im looking for it too

  • I think it's an improvisation of "Autumn Leaves."

  • thank you !

  • wow...thats big news

  • Very good software, though I think the one on Reason is sufficient enough for me.

  • I wish I could play like you

  • where can I download a demo version of the native instruments akoustik piano?

  • You can't download demo version of sample libraries. They are physical recorded sounds.. many gigs worth.

  • how do you trigger the piano? do you need a midi keyboard? sorry i am new to this so any help would be appreciated, regarding how to use this software or how to record to Adobe Audition or sony acid. thanks!

  • yea you use a midi keyboard

  • You can use the piano as a VST plugin in your music software, i.e. Cubase, Capella etc. to play midi files.

  • yeah nothing will beat a steinway, but for those of us who cant afford a $50,000 piano its a great alternative

  • plus recording equip = shitload of neumans etc

  • Well, I don't have money to buy a real Steinway either, so I'm also stuck with samplers and software... but still, nothing beats a real piano.

  • Ivory is better.

However Akoustik is better than the garbage True Pianos or the awful Pianoteq which both have this horrible plastic sound that makes them sound like a cheap 80s synth.

  • Pianoteq is in constant evolution. The first version was bad in tone, but now it's bether. It will improve even more in next version.

  • A frickin Steinway is better. You say Ivory is better, but you don't say why!! I think Akousitk piano is better, it sounds more real, like an acoustic piano. Ivory sounds more like a Roland digital piano on every demo I have heard.

  • Yeah, Akoustik Piano sounds more natural because there are things "wrong" with the sound. Ivory sounds too perfect, like it's fake or something.

  • can anyone tell me what the chords are played at 0:54 please?

  • two chords are played:

    1. Fmaj7 (notes: F,C,E,A)

    2. E7+9 (notes: E,G#,D,G)

the notes I show go from bottom to top (left to right) on the piano. In the E7+9 chord the D is the 7th, and the G is the +9. +9 means take the 9th note of the root and go up 1 note, thus on an E chord the 9th is an F#, and the +9 is a G

  • i have a block about chords

how can i learn about chords?please

  • There's no easy way to fully explain chords but here's a very basic interpretation. We can use 7 different letters in music A to G. Now a chord can be any of those letters. Lets pick C for example. If we were playing a C chord first view C and all the letters that come after it till you get back to C. Such as CDEFGABC. Now think of them as numbers 1 being C, 2 being D, 3 being E, etc. Now look at the add numbers and you get the letters C, E, G, and B.

  • If you played the 4 notes you would get a Cmaj7 chord. If you play the notes that make up the 1, 3, 5 combination of a chord you can play 4 different chords. Major, Minor, Augmented, or Diminished. The chord we talked about was a Cmaj7 because it had a B in the chord which was the 7th letter away from C. Thus if you say a C9 chord you should at least know that the letters used in that chord would be C(1), E(3), G(5), B(7), D(9). But a real C9 would have a B flat. That's were it gets tuff.

  • "Now look at the add numbers and you get the letters C, E, G, and B."

    should read

Now look at the ODD numbers and you get the letters C, E, G, and B.

  • MIDI is just 31.25kBaud/sec, or 31,250 bit/sec = 3.815kbytes/sec (less than 4kbytes/sec!).

  • wow sounds so awesome o.o

  • Logic pianos are better sounding than the standard pianos in Ivory, but the Italian Grand expansion is the best sampled piano out there, it is better than anything, including Logic 8's pianos and Akoustik Pianos.

  • why does it get lower reviews than akoustik piano

  • The Logic8- and the Ivory piano's are totally different. Maybe the Logic piano's sound great in a mix, but for piano solo's, and specially for pianists, Ivory is way better.

  • Hi everyone, does anybody know if i can use Akoustik Piano with a midi keyboard and USB 1.1, The fact that i would use a 1.1 Usb port would affect or make noises or crash? Using a computer with (Memory Ram is 1G, Processor 2.1 Hz) i believe.... please help!

  • would think it would be fine...

  • the big difference between usb1 and 2.. 10mbits vs 400mbits.. as for the cpu, hmm not sure.. I guess it would be fine as a stand alone, you should check the minimum requirements to be safe on that front. oh and a decent sound card would help heaps also (asio , low latency)

  • Hey emelie0066 Using Usb 1.1 for midi protocol doesn't change anything since the usb rate is about 4.1kb/sec. And for your PC well you have to try it but if you got a clean pc without virus this seen like okay spec

  • Sorry not the usb rate i meant the Midi protocol rate

  • USB is a lot faster (even 1.1) than MIDI. Keep in mind, Midi was made back in 1983!

  • yes, tascam makes gigastudio.

  • native instruments sounds good, but they are buggy as hell. germans love bug, thats why they made volkswagen beetle. access virus ti is also buggy software wise. hell, even german blonde hitler women are buggy. go with japanese: korg/yamaha/roland/tascam/akai, you will be glad you did!

  • I would love to go with Japanese, but they signed a contract with Hitler - so they are on the same side.

O.K. let's get serious: I know I probably feed a troll but yet: I am german and I will not tolerate this kind of racism. So if you please print out your comment and stuff it up your "beep" I would be very happy. No hard feelings....

  • DOOD what song are u playing at 2:18?

  • There are various pianos in Logic 8(EXS24):

    1. Yamaha C7

    2. Steinway

    3. Bosendorfer

The Steinway is the best sounding of the three, and likely to become a industry standard, since everyone has Logic 8 now. Unlike Ivory, it's also very low on memory and CPU.

I haven't tried the Italian Grand yet, but I might buy it since it is a single product now, separate product.

  • bad view cvality

  • logic's exs24 piano sound more realistic and have much longer sustains.l

  • whoa whoa it does ??

what is the brand of piano it was sampled from (the exs24) ???

  • yeah this is probably the worst piano simulation plugin ever.

  • I completely disagree! I have got excellent, realistic sounding results with this sampler. I have even had piano solo albums recorded using this and nobody knew it was a sampler. You just have to be able to tweak it for the right situation whether it will be in a mix or solo piano and etc. I am also curious to hear how long the sustains are for logic's exs24. It better be more than 30 seconds if it has longer sustains than Akoustik Piano. The long sustains in AP are awesome!

  • but i don't think so :)

    ivory is way better.

  • Ivory is really good. The Italian Grand sounds great! But I don't think the other piano sounds that come with the initial Synthogy Ivory are as good as Akoustik Piano's sounds that come initially with the sampler. I do admit that I don't like the upright with Akoustik Piano that much though.

  • ok you like acuostic piano more and i like ivory more. That's just it :).

  • another umportant thing that you don't consider= the convenience= A real piano is too heavy to carry and to buy. On the other side a software is soft (light, cheap). Another umportant thing that you are missing= the MIDI capability of the sample piano, so we can make wonders with the notes.

    ollertonssoapbox,

It's a terrible and difficult thing to judge what you don't understand.

Christ said very well= "Don't judge, so you willn't be judged..."

  • I use Steinberg The Grand 2 and it's enough for all my purposes

  • Ivory is better, especially the Italian Grand.

Akoustik has a very metallic sound, and Native Instruments have notoriously buggy software.

  • Groovin to The Autumn Leaves!!

  • logic's exs24 piano's are better i think:)

  • I wish they were.

  • Way to go, the sounds are incredible! What really struck me was the sound of the hammer falling back down as one releases the key. excellent! I do have a favor to ask, i've been searching and searching for a tutorial video for NI String player Vol. 1...any help is appreaciated.

  • for the person below me:

In all honesty, I think pianoteq sounds terrible and I am stunned that people take it seriously. And it's not that it just sounds bad, it just doesn't even sound like a piano!

  • ollertonssoapbox, you don't know the power of the computer and you don't know what you are saying, criticizing samplers.......for example, realguitar is BETTER than a real guitar !!!....I'm trumpetist and I have abandoned it cuz I got a sampled trumpet very better than my real trumpet !!!

  • I used Akoustik for a while, but it ended up not well after sometime. The good thing is the intermediary velocity strike generation algorithm, that creates seamless velocity changes. But the only really goo digital piano in harmonic effect,m sympathetic, and natural resonance it's PIANOTEQ. Try out the Demo in Pianoteq site.

  • Pianoteq sounds like everything but a piano. To artificial, the higher octaves sounds like bells. The overall sound is muddy.

  • The first version realised had really those problems. They are in version 2.2 now, with improved sound. They also had new add-on for historic pianos modelled. Try to listen in their demno page the piano called Sébastien Erard grand piano.

  • I tested the latest release and it's really better than the older ones, but it still sounds a bit strange in my ears. Somehow washed out. This may be caused by the string resonance, I'm not sure. I miss the clarity in the harmonics you can hear on a real piano. The last (highest) two octaves sound like the old Yamaha DX7. But in the end it's all a matter of taste, isn't it?

  • Yes, you are right about taste. Some people loved it and other just didn't like much. I liked in the beginning but today my ears developed a too exigent sense. No digital piano in the world today is able to fully please my ears :-) I think that modelled didital pianos is the future, but will take some year to much the sound feel fully natural.

  • Thanks you very much is very usefull.

  • thanks for the demos chris -it's funny how up to now you've got 2000 views with only three comments. People have learned only to take (and complain too) and not give. keep on the good work

  • I enjoy your videos but the voice is recorded too low.
