  • are you japanese?

  • you are hot

  • I'm jotting all these tips down for my next visit. Obento is one tip. Also (and I seem to recall this from a while back) the department stores serve good cheap lunches on top floor or basements (not sure which). Just avoid the lunch time crowds by getting there early or after the rush. Remember workers only have a short break.

  • @BelloBudo007 Yeah, we call the food section of Department stores "DEPA-CHIKA" meaning Department store Basement. It is ALWAYS the basement (sometime two floors) catering from fresh Veg.Fish. Meat and all kind of foodstuff, AND, the prepared foods, including bento-boxed lunch, sweets, cakes, breads, Japanese, European, all kinds. Also, the restaurants and the store's dining/coffee shops are the top floor. It is like a rule. You could get a lot of foods tasting walking around that floor.

  • @MrJaxyagi - Thank you for your very welcome advice. Okay, Dept stores top floor for dining & coffee and basement for other goods including bento. That's a good way for me to eat well and save some money too. Your tip "lot of foods tasting walking around that floor" is good too ;-)

  • @BelloBudo007 People of Dept. Store business were smart, let many good restaurants to have branch at the top floor so that many customers to the stores would visit, then walking down the floors shopping. The foods stuff should be at basement so that people in a hurry can come in/out in easily(is one of the reasons). The basement (no exception) million kinds of foods, the aloma alone is intoxicating, my old American girlfriend used to say.

  • @MrJaxyagi -This really is good information to help me save money on food. Thank you.

  • @BelloBudo007 If you stay away from downtown or, regardless, you pop in to any Convenience stores (Konbini), or, super markets, you will find the bento section. The restaurants on the top floor are actually independent restaurants specializing certain foods and incl. the dept store's own dining place, all competing. During daytime, the housewives, retirees, go to the basements for dinner preparations.....after work, working folks to stop at

    basement for their dinner......

  • @MrJaxyagi - Yes I've seen the Konbini on YouTube and they look great. Delicious food and very reasonably priced. Can people actually sit down and eat at the Konbini and at the dept store basement or is it take away style only?

  • @MrJaxyagi - Another place to eat that sounds good is Izakaya. Unfortunately they seem to vary a lot in style & quality. For example I don't like the idea of eating intestines or too much fried food.

  • @BelloBudo007 I replied to your comment but it's missing . Anyway, Thousands of IZAKAYA in Japan, USA cities like NY now. It's like pub but more emphasis on small dish foods, fresh, inexpensive, like tapas in Spain, Fried foods, intestines are minority, not main dishes, then drinks, VERY CASUAL. You must ask some Japanese locals to recommend, or, you venture (hit or miss) several until find a place or two for your liking, and taste. You see a lot of youtube vid about IZAKAYA. Check it.

  • @MrJaxyagi - Yes I will check You Tube for Izakaya 'no intestines' food style. Thank you.

  • @BelloBudo007 I made a mistake, probably broken a rule, that I recommended to you a book about izakaya and mentioned the publisher. That must be the reason my earlier comment is off. Anyway, while I stay in Japan, if alone or with close friends, I EAT at some Izakaya, instead of regular restaurant because they are casual and range of foods available and the place won't rush you out, like some restaurant wants to use the tables many times an evening. More stay get drunk more foods, right?

  • @MrJaxyagi - Maybe a mistake or maybe you tried to copy & paste a link? I tried that and for some reason You Tube rejects it. Thanks again. Cheers & enjoy Japan.

  • I WOULD KILL TO EAT THAT! BUT KILL SOMETHING SMALL.... LIKE A CARROT :3

  • why the raiz its purple?

  • the lowest is about 300 yen. normally bento in japan is about 400 or something.

  • How much did this one cost? :O

  • I would eat bento everyday. Did they sell veggie bento at all?

  • @shepherdbaba What do you mean...? We do have them in the U.S. Go to any local Japanese supermarket and pick one up, or better yet, make you're own... Most Japanese supermarkets carry all the ingredients to make a very nice bento, and some even carry the bento boxes themselves so you can really feel like you're in Japan.

  • @shepherdbaba totally i wish we had them here everywhere!! ... even in the high schools 4 lunch! that wud b so awesome!!! ^_^
