There was and "NEVER" will be another choir like the "TOMMIES" They were so consistant in the 80's and the early 90's; there tones and voice quaity was second to none. you could always understand what they were saying! Good diction and not a lot of choir "DRAMA" that was visable! Even the lead vocalist were humble and didn't appear to be 'grandstanding!'
@dslapster64 Actually he did do a few gigs with the Tommies and at the time Steve wasn't going to do the tape for some reasons so Panell was going to do it but Steve ended up doing it.
@dslapster64 Actually, Parnell did fill in for the Tommies on some of their gigs. Also Lemar Jones was another fill-in when Steve did not play the gigs.
Perfect blend of vocal abilities and musical expression/musicianship... one never took stage above the other. I wish some of these new choirs would learn that..
I am so grateful to those of you who minister to the world via youtube. The Ministries of Rev. Milton Brunson and countless others are kept alive through people like you. May God bless you for blessing me and so many others.
Wonderful song. My favorite song from Rev. Milton Brunson & The Thompson Community Singers. Glad to hear the testimony of Brother Darius Brooks! To God be praised!
it's been 18 long years since i seen this film i remeber watchin this since i was a little girl thanks 2 my wonderful mother this film brings back good memories
Oh man! The brother that used to lead this in church was so sick a year ago. The doctors were trying to convince his wife to pull the plug because, according to them he woul dnly be vegetable. I am glad to say that today he is alive and kicking. If he is a vegetable, then I guess I am a tree. I think os him everytime I hear this song. I was just in a concer t with him about 3 weeks ago where he participated like he was not almost left for dead a year ago! PS- His wife's faith never waivered!
Y'all are making me homesick with this one; my favorite song by the Tommies. I also love Apostle Donald Alford and the Radio Choir in Maywood, IL. If anyone have anything on them please upload. The Tommies are the best. Thanx to the gospelfillup. Peace!
I love this song and it brings me to tears everytime i hear it. I love ole school songs like this... never knew Darius Brooks lead this song i love it!!
I had the entire VHS of this concert back in the early 90's and used to love this song! Seeing this again makes me miss the real "choir" days of gospel music. The Tommies would always deliver top noch vocals on all that they did. But its Darius' singing and that funky lil groove that I love most about this song along.
Hallelujah and praise God for such a wonderful song. I just recently stumbled across this song and I'm hearing it for the first time. It immediately went into my gospel playlist. Now that's how you praise Him!
One of the celebratory songs about dying in Christ that I have ever heard...that along with the rest of the band in the pocket while the bass guitar is driving the music makes this song incredible!!!
tears comes to my face when watching this. so many great memories from this choir. they set a standard for gospel music and now everybody sounds the same.
Firstly, this choir is phenomenal anyway. Secondly, although I'm a New Yorker and true to NYC...I have to admit that it was Darius Brooks that brought Love Fellowship Choir's vocals to their finest with his collaboration on "Focus on Glory". Good vid & keep 'em coming =)
I agree...not to slight Paster Hezeziah; the blended vocals and tight music department, oh yes, it all started right here with Rev. Milton, Darius and the (Eugene) Thompson Community Singers.

@lilstewks thanks for the info. I know he is a pastor now but why did Steve quit playing? He should get much more kudos than he does.

They made a mistake on the video credits. It should say Steve Huff instead of Parnell Johnson. Parnell never played for the tommies.
