Who in their right mind would "dislike" this? The bass guitarists that is playing this groove is very talented. Come on people, you don't have to be jealous, just practice.
I always joke with my guitar playing buddy whose always razzin' about playing with four strings. I always tell him it's not how many strings you have it's how big the strings you got are. =P
76 don´t know what it feels...Listen Caio Mesquita, young brazilian saxofhonist, who plays our samba and our bossa nova with his heart, try:Flor de Lis,Samba do Avião,Corcovado,Bananeira,Girl From Ipanema(go visit Rio de Janeiro, its wonderfull)Retratos e Canções and Wave.Enjoy the BASS too!!Congratulations to the USA musicians!!!!!!!
does anyone know a tab for this, or any good funk tabs? and what types of bass's are best for this style? because my ibanez does not sound like it could slap like this
A nice jazz bass or a Musicman bass would sound good for this style, but I'm sure you can get a decent tone out of your Ibanez. Set the action as low as possible, and put a fresh set of strings on your bass (fresh strings will give you a much clankier, slap-oriented sound). Aside from that, it's your technique that counts the most.
Great to learn on Bass Guitar, maybe it sounds easy, but It's fucking hard to do, I've been doing it for like 1 hour now, and I only know like the first 4 seconds o.O
Jesus... I'm getting sick of these '67 people dont have speakers' kind of jokes. They're on every freakin video just done a bit differently each time ¬¬
awesome i think this is the best bass piece ever!!!kinda practicing it right now. . .it takes time to master. . . . .tnx Bartek, this inspires me. . .:-)
@FunkySpunky91 most people are conditioned like that. Thats the first time they "heard" slap bass so they associate it with that memory. But my first time was when some guy was performing at a gig.
I seen a pikey playing bass in Fort William underpass the other day with a slide, nothing short of awesome. The things he could do with the bass and slide were incredible.
@aganstshiper YES YES YES. I don't play bass, but my whole life i always thought/think that the bass is a very important part of a song. It completes the range of frequencies in a track. But it's mixed almost always too soft; it should be more significant in music! I sometimes feel sorry for the bassists who play ingenius basslines but the guitars and other sounds are in the foreground and suppress the bass. Read next part! ---->
@lunatik75vnr haha u have no idea how hard this song is. i have actually been working on it for months now, and i can barely get through it. and the little riffs that he does are really hard. but yeah, with practice, maybe. buttttttt not likely lol.
The importance of the choice of instrument is minimal. First and foremost, it's the music that matters. How you choose to express the music is up to you.
@Wilbursson are you on crack? this song is sick. obviously you have no clue how hard some of the techniques he's using are. and no soul?? what the heck. that's totally... untrue.

Every instrument has a kind of standard status; like
the guitar/singer is the frontman(most important) and the drums are more in the background
but provide a sturdy rhythmic basis that the other instruments 'follow'. I consider this not
a totally correct view. I think every instrument is unique, because their sounds are
completly different and so are their effects on the song. Together they form a fullness
where every instrument contributes a unique and equal part. Read next part! ---->
PureGreenNature 1 year ago
I think that the bass suffers
the most of it's general status, and that should change!
