Those bombs killed women, babies, children, the elderly and unborn babies.
They left a scar so deep that the after-effects can be witnessed today in the children of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

This bomb was dropped weeks after we presented the final declaration of peace so that WE wouldn't have to continue losing OUR men... We specifically indicated to the Japanese that we had this bomb and would use it if they did not agree to peace... they pretty much told us to go fuck ourselves... This bomb was a means to an end, and I celebrate the day it was detonated.

In our deals we did have some strict guidelines, but we allowed the emperor to keep his position of power.. And anybody who tries to say that the U.S. government made this decision without a care in the world, they took months to pick a mark that would not be so devastating culturally agriculturally and so dense with civilians... the target had to have a significant military presence. There were 3 or 4 sites chosen and Hiro got the brunt... its the only thing the Jap's could understand and fear.

The complete texts of the cables between Foreign Minister Togo and J amb to USSR Sato are available online. (read them yourself) 7/45 Sato asked Togo for instructions in seeking Soviet mediation. He did not receive any. Sato also cabled Togo that Japan could only get Unconditional Surrender or something very close to it. Togo cabled back that that was out of the question. (US codebreakers passed this info to President Truman)

As a matter of fact, I have. The minutes of the meeting of the "Big Six" of Aug 9/10 1945 are available in multiple scources. Not until 8/6/45 did any of them consider peace terms; even after Hiroshima they were split 3-3; half of them wanted
1. no Occupation
2. Japan disarms itself (yeah, rrright)
3. No trials of war criminals except in J tribunals.
Once Hirohito received word of the Nagasaki bomb 13 hours earlier, he immediately gave the surrender order.
