@BassinK9 Yes I do. All I do is open the mold a little and sit it on the top edge of the pot for a few minutes. It warms the mold up nicely. You can buy smoke spray in a can now too that will "smoke" the mold for you and make the lead release a little easier for you. I've never really had a problem as long as the mold is warm.
@VermontFishing101 I always use base hole pins. Because you are afforded a lot more flexibility in your painting. 5 minute waterproof epoxy is fine for placing weedguards after painting and baking. Baking is an essential step in making paint stay on lead heads. With weedguards in place, baking will make them curl. you can use heat resistant tubing but it's just easier to leave the weedguards out. We'll talk more about it in upcoming videos.
@VermontFishing101 Yes I always use base hole pins for weedless jigs. For shaky heads I just put the spring in and it comes out of the mold ready to paint.
One thing I forgot to mention. NEVER get water or discharge a wet fire extinguisher into molten lead. Lead and water don't mix when it's molten. It will try to expand and explode. I keep a dry extinguisher on hand. I blow the wax out just like blowing a candle out. The next video will talk to about a lot of preparations that will help you're pouring. The one after that will talk about why you should leave weed guards out when pouring and another one on painting and baking jigs.
I've been doing a lot of reading on pouring jigs...and your video was very informative, because sometime there are those of us that need to see the process instead of just reading about it. Thanks. Also, are those fluid beds I see in the vid? Will you be making a tutuorial on how to make one?
@Methos713 I won't be doing one on making fluid beds. I bought mine and it works great so I have no need to build one. We will do a video on painting, curing, expoy of weedguards, etc.
Yeah I didn't mention it but I have a fire extinguisher on my bench. Just the air from the FE will probably snuff the fire as it's the wax on top of the lead that is burning. I literally stir it with a LONG handle ladle and blow it out with my mouth. The key is to be prepared because the whole inside of the pot will be on fire. But the wax is a great way to pull the impurities up to the top.
Great vid. Never having poured jigs before, I can't imagine that not having a fire extinguisher would be a good idea. Regarding the fire you were walking about, would a general household extinguisher be good enough to calm things down if it gets out of hand?

@Wired2Fish How do you blow the wax out while wearing your super duper safety mask? Can you show us a video for that?
