  • Hi again, I actually use "Lemony Flutter"-cuticle butter 3 times a day, and I take good care of them. so I dont know what I do wrong... ? Getting pretty frustrated, cause I do all the stuff that I know is good... but still... :(

  • @Spoxgirl I'm sorry to hear you're having so much trouble with polish adhesion. You might want to try switching products for a couple of weeks, however small the odds, it could be the problem. Maybe it can penetrate the polish. Also, high concentrations of raw lemon can actually have a drying effect, and if it is drying out your polish too much, that can certainly cause it to chip. I would definitely recommend trying Solar Oil, massaging it deeply into your completely dry polish daily. ◦◕‿◕◦

  • @LadyNailz Sorry, I meant to say: maybe it "can't" penetrate the polish...

  • @LadyNailz Sorry, I meant to say: maybe it "can't" penetrate the polish...

  • @LadyNailz Sorry, I meant to say: maybe it "can't" penetrate the polish...

  • Can you help me?

Im a lady that is really passionate about nails, I have douglas' book, but I have a problem.. Im sitting in a wheelchair and even if i do nailcare once a week, it just wears off.. and im tired of it. Is there anything that may help chipping ? and strengthens the nails? Please help me.

  • @Spoxgirl Having “strong nails” is the biggest misconception people have about nails. Preventing natural nails from breaking and cracking is ALL about flexibility not strength. That’s the nail’s ability to bend and give without cracking or breaking. You can achieve this simply by massaging Solar Oil (CND) into your nail plate 3 or more times a day. This will give your natural nails the flexibility they need to prevent breakage. Massage generously into nail plate as often as you can. ◦◕‿◕◦

  • @Spoxgirl To prevent polish from chipping also requires moisture—in the polish. Massage Solar Oil into polish/top coat and nail art daily to prevent chipping. When applying polish, top & base coat be sure to “seal” each coat by sweeping the polish brush across the edge of the free edge. I hope this helps, please let me know if I can be of further assistance. Good luck. ◦◕‿◕◦ Visit me on Facebook: “WildSide Nailz.”

  • Please do some more educating tutorials!

  • @Navitrolla You bet I will! ◦◕‿◕◦

  • how do you know your nail is healthy from the side view???? like how curvy or flat should a healthy nail be???

  • @finessence808 From any angle the natural nail should look pink, hydrated, smooth (free of pits or dents), with no peeling or splitting of the free edge. Some people have a natural arch to their nails, while others lie flat. Both are normal. ◦◕‿◕◦

  • @LadyNailz do you mix acrylics??? what brand do you suggest mixing glitter acrylics with???

  • @finessence808 You bet I do! I'm a mad scientist when its comes to mixing my own acrylic colors and glitters. I use NSI's purely pink masque (cover pink) and mix it with Organic's funkadelic glitter and wow! Amazing! My latest photo I posted on coolnailsart was done with NSI's totally clear and glitters from glitz glitter. Dazzling as all get out. I love love love experimenting with mixing different colors. Just make sure the acrylics are compatible with each other before you mix. ◦◕‿◕◦

  • @LadyNailz so for mixing glitters you prodominently use Totally Clear? and i love the purely pink masque i used that often.

do you do pedicures?? i was wondering if it were possible that the sea salt soaks and mosturizers used in those kits could be used on the body as well, not for the sensitive area, but maybe like on the back and elbows, i know they say their for hands and feet, but i wonder how versatile those things can be for exfoliating.

  • @finessence808 Glitter can be added to ANY acrylic you want. Just stick to the 25% ratio.

I personally do not do pedis, but I still had to learn them.

Exfoliates meant for the face can be used any where on the body you want to exfoliate. Exfoliates meant for hands & feet can also be used anywhere, I just wouldn’t recommended those ones for the face, only because it may be too harsh. But back, elbows, knees… go for it.

  • @LadyNailz whats the best way to mask/cover the smell of liquid monomer when not in use?? someone told me you can put liquid into a stainless steel cup with a lid, and it can mask the smell, is this true?? what do you suggest??? is this even possible??

  • @finessence808 You can’t mask the smell of monomer. But there are lots of things you can do to help minimize odors in the home or salon: Always keep monomer dishes covered when not in use. Only fill your dish with the amount of monomer you’ll need for the job at hand. Use a covered waste can to minimize the odor coming from soiled materials. Have proper ventilation in the room,

to name a few. I hope this helps. ◦◕‿◕◦

  • I dont wanna say anything bad but into for this video was way too long and i was watining and waiting to see the things what you were talking about but it didnt come so it became boring. But you are absolutely right about misleading videos in youtube. I hate most of those. Thank you for doing the right thing!

  • @Navitrolla The entire video was nothing more than an intro to my future videos. While reacquainting some people with the basic elements of the nail, I did show photos of what I was discussing. Thanks for your support, and you comments. : )

  • What is the best kind of cuticle oil to use??

  • @mommyofmylittle2 Solar Oil, the one and only! From CND. : )

  • I am not a professional but i would love to be one day! With that being said, i wanted to thank you for this video, as u said in your application video that alot of us are mislead by improper application, me being one of them. I had always felt as though some of the "nail tutorials" were not correct but i didn't have the correct information to prove that. I do appreciate their creativity but can't 100% agree with the application process. Now i have something to go off of, thank u for ur help!

  • @ejportillo Well, if you do decide to go to school, you're going to be one well prepared tech. Any kind of learning or training you can get before hand, is only going put you at the top. My videos are for future techs like you, already licensed, or ANYONE who cares enough about themselves to learn the RIGHT way. Thanks so much for your support. : )

  • okay...i love the video....and i must say, i acnt wait to get back into school....anyway, getting off topic...ummm, your info goes by too fast...i cant read it in tim and i am alway stoping and starting the vid so i can read it all...just wanted to let you know

  • @OnlineHunny Thank you so much for watching, I'm really glad you enjoyed the information. And yes, I am aware I wasn't able to pause on each frame as long as I would have liked. But I would rather have the information more convenient and self-contained in one video, rather than having to split up in information into two videos. I apologize, though for the trouble. : )

  • Wow his site is fab love the 3d vids and the information is great, im lovin bein a nail tec more and more just a shame we dont have people like yourself and Doug Schoon's in the uk, can u get his book in the uk and if so how much would it be??? sorry to keep buggin you like ive said befor i just wanna make sure im doin every thing right it makes all the dif between a good nail tec and a crap one and i wanna be good at wot i do :) glad i fount u on here thankz x

  • @TwistedPrincess87 I’m so glad you’re enjoying Doug’s work too. You can probably find his book at any major book store, or amazon.com. He has also written several articles for Scratch Magazine there in the UK. Contact them if you’re interested in past issues. It pleases me to see such dedicated techs as yourself want to be the best they can. It was my goal too when I first got on the scene, and that attitude took me very far!

  • Just wanted to let you all know... as a special Hollween treat Doug Schoon's Brain episode #7 has been extended until Halloween. So if you haven't yet, begin your journey now. Or take another.

  • Brilliant work. Its techs like you that make me oh so proud to be in the industry that I am.

  • @LolaBevahousen Thanks lola darling. I could say the same exact thing about you. : )

  • sorry but I don't know were. I was already on the website twice and can't find anything about 3d glasses.

  • @SuperSanchez21

Send a self-addressed stamped envelope to:

    Schoon Scientific

    33835 Crystal Lantern St.

    Dana Point, CA. 92629

    They'll send you a pair.

  • were can I get some pair of 3D glasses?

  • @SuperSanchez21 Follow the link.

  • so is it good to eat with our hands so the nutrients get to our nails is that what you are saying.

  • @SuperSanchez21 No, that's not what I said. You can't put nutrients into your body by way of finger nails.

  • Hi thank you for putting this video up it will really help people that are serious about nails!

I'm now on week 3 of my Acrylic Course through NSI and im loving it! got sculptured nails and my exams to do next week just hope I pass lol

Cant wait for more of your videos they will keep me on the right track!!

    Take Care xxx

  • @charlene842005 You are most welcome. I wish you all the luck on your exams. You're going to do great, you're in very good hands. I'm hoping to have my acrylic overlay vid up this week, hope it helps you out. Thanks for watching. : )

  • Loved the Video... Great info, can't wait to see the rest!

  • @bajanspice1978 So glad to hear it. Thank you for watching. : )

  • Great!! I've learned much of this video by trial and error. It just irks me to see people cut the eponychium and call it the cuticle. I had it cut years ago and it burned like crazy, having almost beat the manicurist after that. Told her to never cut that area again, even on my toes! My nails are so healthy now since I've been tending my own nails. I bought the book this morning and will be tuning in periodically to learn even more from you and Mr. Schoons. (sp)

    Stay safe...

  • @HusbandandWifeShow Thanks so much for your kind comments. I just know you're going to love doug's book. He makes the understanding of nail technology so easy and fun. I hope you've had a chance to peek into his brain, lol. Thanks for watching. : )

  • wow!!! i learned a hell of a lot in this vid. who wuda knew it was so much 2 learn & so much i didnt kno. now i was told the little white spots were telltale spots 2 let u kno some1 close 2 u likes u more than just a friend! ha! (thx 4 the lies grams smh) anywho i am lookin 4 forward 2 ur next vid. thx 4 the nail class

  • @vanillasunshine87 Yeah, there are hundreds of rediculous myths out there surrounding nails and disorders. Thank you for watching. : )

  • @vanillasunshine87...I agree! There aren't many on YT like her, either. I just witness someone chipping at the eponychium. *gasp* I just don't think it should be touched. My nails look wonderful around that area and I'm keeping them that way. Some of these women look like they've rubbed them with sand paper around that area. Looks awful...

    Stay safe...

  • Oh my... I had no idea, thank you for the info, from now on you are my new teacher...

  • @hammy0522 So glad I could be of help. You wanna know nails? I'll turn you into a pro. Watch and see. Thank you for taking the time to comment. : )

  • @LadyNailz yes I want to learn... I really cant wait!!! I want to practive on the plastic hand and fingers, but O.o this is very dumb... I dont know how to start... I mean I dont know if I shoud glue a fake nail to the finger or just put the acrylic on top? and do you have to buy a new hand everythime you run out of fingers to practice??? sorry I feel really stupid!!! O_O

  • @hammy0522 There are NO dumb questions! I don't know about the hand, I've never used one. But the practice fingers that I use, come either as incertable or glue on. I use incertable, but they are difficult to sculpt on. Once you sculpt on them, it's too hard to remove the nail and will need acetone soaking. I buy them by the 100-count from nailite.com

  • Well I be.....I never knew all this. The video was very informative. No bells and whistles. Just straight talk. I just hope I can cure my problem nails. Thank you!

  • @javajunkie101 So glad you enjoyed it. Most everyone has a condition, a disorder, or some nail abnormality. Myself included. And those numbers will only increase the more people out there continue to misuse the products they buy. On some occasions, the nail can actually repair itself. : )

  • @LadyNailz Too bad you don't make housecalls. I could use a hand--literally! Thanks again and take care.

  • @javajunkie101 Oh how I wish I could! : ) But I will do all I can to help those that want and need it. You take care too. : )

  • Thank you for posting this video, i learned alot =)

I just do nail art and i'm not really experienced with nail care so this was a eye opener for me hehe. I have that problem where my nails kind of curl inward once they grow out really long, is that irriversible damage? or can i do something about it? thanks =)

  • @BeenaBop Thanks Beena, so glad it helped. Hard to say if your problem is irreversible... it could have been caused by some trauma to your nail, and if so only time will tell if your nail can "heal itself." It could also indicate a more serious underlying problem. Do you wear enhancements?

  • very informative,thank you!

  • @sharlicious123 You are welcome, thanks for watching. : )

  • You remind me so much of the vivacious Rise’, from NSI. I was fortuante enough to partcipate in a NSI course here in Adelaide, Australia, the other month Her passion is equal to yours and boosts my confidence ten fold for the industry and myself. You’re passion is clear and it’s exciting to see someone willing to help others so accessibly. You’re wonderful and I look forward to watching more of your ‘proper techniques’ videos. Oh, your book too :)

  • @missfiresprite Well, I take that as a huge compliment! Thank you. So glad I can boost anyone's enthusiasm for nails, and lift anyone's self-confidence. Anyone can do this, and I support them all. Thanks for watching and for your support, it means a lot. : )

  • omg thanks you for doing this i have watch video after video of improper nail enhancements and drill usage!!! i was planning on doing something like you bt have not had the time, i totally agree with you on everything you said, i am also a nail techinician and get very upset when we get bad rep because of bad videos and missinterpertations!!! thank you so much for putting things right for all those who really want to learn!!

  • @pronailtech Wow, now I have another thing to be grateful for... my video seems to be bringing the pros out of the shadows. THANK GOD! maybe together we can set youtube straight. I'm going to encourage all pros to help anyone wishing to learn real nail care and nail art. Like Doug said, we can't stop them, so lets show 'em the ropes. I know what you mean about the time, it’s killin me, but so many really need me. I have to help them. Thank you for your comments and support. : )

  • OMG!!! I agree with everything you said 100%!!! I'm going to post a video about you and I will do it in spanish and english so all of my subs can watch! This what you are going to do IS HUGE!!! And you know what its even more sad! to see all the videos from nail techs WHO ARE NOT WELL EDUCATED!!! AND MISSGUIDED PEOPLE WITH FAKE STUFF AND WRONG INFO!!! Also the amount of people trying to go awesome in the nail art when they are not even safe in the care of sanitation and proper procedures!!! =D

  • @luisbalma And I agree with you. No one understands more than me how much people want pretty finger nails. But most of them are going about it ALL WRONG! They are hurting themselves and they don't even know it. Thanks for any help you can give to help spread the education. If you do make a video please post it here also, and I'll make a link to your channel on mine. Thanks luis, would love to have you onboard. : )

  • @LadyNailz TOTALLY ON BOARD!!!! I in fact just had a blast with your video the myths and all where pretty good! Actually i went to the site and did they survey for schoon and all the 3D stuff is fun to see! sooooo odd to look at it like that! I thought myself to do a series of videos like this, but since I'm not trained yet i was like well yeah whose gonna buy me! But your timing is sooooo perfect i couldn't belive it!!! this type of vids make me belive more in my passion! NAILS (Heaven)!!!! =D

  • @luisbalma Aw, thanks luis. People like you make it all worthwhile. This is an amazing line of work to be in, I wish it for everyone! But there’s a right way to go about it and a wrong way... and the wrong way is soo very wrong. Lol. It pleases me greatly to see such enthusiasm for my video and the ones forthcoming, I hope they can be of service to anyone with a passion for nails like I have. Thanks so much for your comments, and support.

  • @LadyNailz Oh I agree i agree!!! and the wrong way is sooooo loooong! Cant wait to see the rest of this JOURNEY your sharing! Keep it up!!! Hopefully if you do a PREPs vid to see about triming the dead skin attached to the eponychium =) thanks for all of it!!

  • @luisbalma I'm on it luis! lol. Thank you for your support, it means a lot. : )

  • @VietDiva94 Thank you for watching. : )

  • Thank u so much for this info. Can't wait for the next vid! Im gonna make a playlist of these vids & post them on my page if that's ok with u? =D

  • @lololicious69 Thank you lolo, for your interest. Sure you can put them on your page, I would truly appreciate that. Thank you. The more people I can reach, the more I can help. My third video will be to help you and others who want to make the transition from low-grade products to professional ones. I will show you how to work that NSI powder. : ) Thanks for having patience with me.

  • @shontasha Well, dry usually always means "moisture depletion." But you said only on a few fingers. Hm, do you wear artificial nails? Is something happening to those fingers that isn't happening to the rest?

  • I was wondering if you could tell me how to strengthen my nails they are so thin when they grow out they start to peel. and bend super easy it hurts and I bleed sometimes.

  • @uxtakexmyxbreath Peeling means lack of moisture. Did you recently remove enhancements? That could be the problem. Either way, oil massages daily can fix this. Masagging makes blood flow to the nail bed and increases healthy growth. The key is to use a very good cuticle oil with high concentrations of almond oil and vtiamin e. : )

  • This is a very good video! So full of information that needs to be spread around. Love the Myth Buster parts as well :0) I think i won't be doing Nail Term Thursday anymore cuz yours is so much better and well explained, i will be sending everyone here :0) Can't wait to see the next one ^.~ Well done sista friend!

  • @TheNailDutchess I'm so glad you approve my sista friend and fellow pro. I'm hoping to have the next one up this week. Thanks for commenting. lub yoos.

  • oh! how helpful! my nails still "flick" up at the tips and Im trying to get rid of em. should I just file them down and weaken my nails? or just let them grow out and be ugly and bleehhh for a while? I think I probably know the answer, but it seems that even when I file them to keep their length, the flick still appears :C

  • @Serafinalu That is a condition called: Koilonychia (coil-o-nicky-uh),

also known as 'spoon nails." Have you ever been diagnosed with

anemia? I mean, I know your pale and all, but I just thought you

were Vampiric. If you can rule out iron-poor blood, then have you worn

    enhancements lately?

  • @LadyNailz I thought I had anemia at one point, but nope! Did the blood work and everything. and I used to wear enhancements in like, junior high but they always broke off because I played tether ball all the time. Could that still be damaging? Even though its been over 10 years?

  • @Serafinalu Yes, there's a possibility it stems from 10-yr old damage. But regular manicures with tons of cuticle oil, and a little time will tell for sure.

Try letting them grow just a little bit longer than you normally do, and see if your condition is still present at that length.

I can tell you more once I know this. : )

  • thank you so much for the info. I really didn't know much about nails like i thought. i look forward to more videos to come.

  • I can't find what you said about Doug Schoon's brain in 3D

  • @SuperSanchez21 I do appologize you had trouble with the link. It was working fine right after I posted the video. But I just changed the link in the detail box, I hope this works for you but let me know. : )

  • Oh my! I am in shock right now. I didn't know any of that. I am so thankful for you making this videos because you are willing to give us your time with nothing in return. Now I see my nails as jewels you know how I told you I am starting to do my nails I filed my eponychium as you said I wasn't careful at all I think I even damaged it from all of my fingers. They are ok now. I stopped practicing since I don't know how to do this and I was waiting for your video. thank you again.

  • @SuperSanchez21Wow! Hopefully you didn't do any permanent damage, but only time will tell. I'm glad I could be of help to you, that's what I am here for. Yes, definitely take special care of those beauties, they're the only ones we get in this lifetime. : )

  • Awesome, awesome, awesome..I'm looking forward for the next video :) Thank You so much for sharing

  • @MissArmenta So glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for commenting. : )

  • At 6:25 on the picture you have "no tapering inward of the free edge" what did you mean by that because when my nails grow out they start to taper inward and I hate that...I starting to think it is the nail hardener I am using?

  • @Ev1izadiva Unless you have been seriously abusing nail hardeners for many years, it isn't likely to be the cause of damage you speak of.

But if your nails at any point begin to grow inward, yes, it can be a sign of permanent damage to your matrix.

Healthy nails will not grow inward like that. : ) Lots of cuticle oil and a little time will tell if the damage is permanent. : )

  • hi love!!..amazing video!!..full with extremely helpful information!! You have even thought me a few new things! glad you did this! <3

  • @madamluck So glad I could be of help to you. But whatever it is you're doing yourself, is right on the money. Keep up the awesome work. Thanks so much for your compliments. : )

  • Awesome1 I'm so excited that I found you on you tube. Proper education is what I've been wanting. Thank you so much for taking the time to do these tutorials. I know it's time consuming. Am looking forward to referencing all of them.

  • @1summertime66 Thank you so much for your sweet compliments. I'm glad you're looking forward to more. I can't help it really, I feel so obligated seeing so many that need help. : )

  • I do live it and I totally love it !! even after more than 10yrs as a fully qualified nail technician I still get excited about every set of nails that I produce and the biggest compliment you can get is when a new client comes back ! Ive thoroughly enjoyed watching this video from you and look forward to the next one too .. have a great week x

  • @brandnails Yes, I agree. This is a very rewarding profession to be in. It makes the hard work bearable when so many appreciate you. Thanks for your great comments. : )

  • Thank you for posting, very informative and interesting.

  • @Ecila007 You are most welcome. Thanks for your coment. : )

  • Hi,

First of all, i want to thank you for this information. I have had acrylic nails for 15 years, the last years i did them myself and really damaged my nails every time with the nail"drill" now i don't have acrylic anymore en try to get healthy nails. i am now 2 months further and the are still growing out en break, so i give it time and give "proper" nailcare. Thanks again.

  • @martfran The key to "life after acrylics" is to replace what was taken from your nails by the acrylic. Be sure to include several oil rubs a day. "Massaging" warm cuticle oil into your nail plate and eponychuim will stop the breaking. The massaging will cause blood to circulate throughout your nail bed, and that's real good! Solar Oil is the best on the market, what ever brand you use, make sure it's high in almond oil & vitamin e, they must be together. : )

  • "expert village" has these "amazing" videos on how NOT to do acrylic nails hehe

nice to see someone is concerned about some one else's nails

  • @UnderTheLilyShadow As a professional, how can I not be. If you saw a toddler walking in the street, seconds away from being hit by a car... who wouldn't run and snatch that baby out of harms way? That's what I go through every time I watch a YT video. I just want to help these ladies who share my passion. Thanks for you comment. : )

  • @LadyNailz what can you say about my acrylic nail videos. I am curious ^^

    xx

  • @UnderTheLilyShadow What is the name of your video?

  • omg ive learned so much already ! ive been wanting to get a gel kit of ebay to diy my own nail extensions but im starting to think thats probably a major no no ! haha will you be doing any videos on uv gel as well as arcylic ? :) x

  • @ShortieGotzStyle It's not a no no so long as you are using the products properly and safely. Yes, I will be doing a video on gel, and myth busting the incorrect information about UV lamps. I've got lots of surprises in store for you all. Hope I hope you stick around for awhile. Thanks for commenting. : )

  • Good Job Thanks

  • Some facts of the nails I did know, but wow you told me a lot more than I allready knew. This video is great, can't wait till the next instructive video. Thanks so much for your help =D

  • @epicafan911 Antyime! I'm just so glad I could be of help to you. : )
