  • you're pretty good with different kinds of materials

  • OMG is that lowpoly? Can you tell me how much triangles is that? :O

  • @Dengakuman22 8500, but wasn't really optimized.

  • @plyczkowski Hello, just wondering (im relatively new to blender) is it better to use triangles or polygons when creating a game character? cheers

  • @BrokeStringGuitarist In the context of performance - doesn't matter, since quads are converted to tris in the game engine anyway. So model in quads (modeling in only tris would be hectic), but don't be afraid to use tris where it's effective to do so, or will result in a lower tricount.

  • excellent

  • Really the face sucks man But the body overrides all erros XD

  • Bardzo fajne : )

Zrobiłeś podstawowy model w Blenderze a później dodawałeś tekstury w zbrushu ? czy jak : )

  • very nice but everyone have to agree with me that blender doesnt give enough hair tools for human models...

  • so the song is

General Leo - I see the light? I cant seem to find it on youtube anyone know how i can get this song?

  • @maxatk354 Try on Newgrounds.

  • need a breakdown (wires, clay, complete) and polycount

  • it's cool but this face...

  • @TheSnIpA66

    and hair....

  • please, take a look at my channel and rate my video. I made a face animation with blender. I modelled the character in a professional way. (Not out of a cube, like most people do.) Thanks! :)

p.s. don't hate on me for making advertise on other video's pages please.

  • @Insideviewanimator There is nothing unproffesional in modeling a face from a cube.

  • @plyczkowski There's nothing unprofessional about any technique you use as long as it produces good results and is efficient. I used to make entire models out of nothing but cubes.

  • @Insideviewanimator I watched your video and i saw your model so i have 1 question. Is that what you call Professional? I didn't mean you are suck, but you should take more practises.

forgive me sir, if this comment hurt your feeling.

  • Facial proportions are off, and too much spec on her arm.

  • and sadly this guy didnt get any jobs at all...back to mcD :(

  • eyes to abit far apart

  • I adore this , i make my characters in zbrush and bring them to blender as well

  • her ass looks too tight and small, but good nonetheless

  • just getting started on blender here. hope to be this good...should only take me...I dunno...forever. LOL. Good stuff man.

  • awesome

  • Do you make the model and then apply the clothes, or do you make the model and the clothes at the same time?

  • @KearoNasanam I first modeled the unclothed body, and then modeled clothes. But modeling clothes without a body, or with some basic body model, should be also ok.

  • @plyczkowski michelangelo disagrees

  • Beautiful work!

  • looks nice, i cosnider low poly 10 k and less for a character but as you said it depends of the game sometimes i have to make them 1 k or less hahaha

over all it looks greate but the face could had more detail in my opinion :)

  • well, thats definatly not low poly, ahaa our mod keeps the poly count 400-, but anyways very nice character. if you made those textures its very professional. good job.

  • kinda looks like my ex

  • Great job!

  • stolen by tomb raider

  • @trux5 don't hate

  • Really nice! but i felt like the face just didnt fit with the rest of the mesh, you know?

  • holy shiiiit dude you got talent you son of a bitch! lol gj

  • Where are you getting your textures from?

  • @Ryscale I'm creating them myself. If you want resources for texturing, try cgtextures for example.

  • @plyczkowski ahh cool i use filter forge their good quality and they have tiling textures (over lapping)

  • @plyczkowski man thaths a nice work very very nice

  • @Ryscale I know your comment is nine months old but if you have access to photohsop gimp or corell painter, google how to make (insert texture you are looking for) and the name of the software and you can normally find some good tutorials on it. i did that all the way through my associates degree. Sand, fur, and different types of fabric really isnt that hard to make once you do it a couple of times.

  • very nice work.

  • @starclopsofish Thanks. No, just specular and diffuse.

  • low poly

are u sure cos this looks very good

  • @joealtair3000 Thanks. It's 8500 tris, but could easily be less.

  • @plyczkowski 8500? is that low , our low poly character is 1500 + armor.

  • @Heriemaker depends on the game, "next-gen" chars are sometimes even more

  • @plyczkowski Totally right. In next gen terms, 'low res character' means that it uses 12k-16k polygons (8000 for body, 4000 for head). The 'hires character' is the version used to render normal maps and it usually has over 1 million polys.

  • this is way better than most video game designers can pull off awesome job :D

  • @jorden9k thanks :)

  • amazing work. Do you used Topogun or only polly reduce of blender to take off some polygons?

  • @15546243 Thanks. I did the retopo also in Blender.

  • @flamezero98 No, these are power cells. Thanks btw.

  • how many poligons is in this? because thats no low polly... but im used to useing lightwave so how is this program different?

  • @xCottonSwabx It is low poly - 8500 tris.

  • Great work you're the kind of guy I have been looking for on youtube, love Blender. Can you do a tutorial?: )

  • Thanks! I'm thinking about a tutorial, but I'm busy at the moment.

  • I'm kinda new to blender and I love tutorials, when you're free it would be great

  • If that's the sort of thing that can be done with low poly modeling in Blender, why bother with the super-detailed high poly models I see people doing? Also, is this only a hobby for you, or do you get paid to do this? If not, it's a shame. You've got talent.

  • Thanks. The high poly version of this was necessary to achieve this look.

I'm not getting paid for it, yet.

  • This is really good Its looks really detailed but i think that the textures might need more work, the skin for example looks too soft like some kind of rubber but the clothes/armor looks amazing

  • Bloody hell this is good =O.

The textures and the Model itself is mind blowing!again, another amazing Job!

    -MK

  • Thanks, I'm glad you like it. I see now thing I could do better, but it's ok.

  • how many polys is she? I like to stay at about 4000 on mine.

  • She is about 8500 tris, but hasn't really been optimized.

  • People saying how is it low poly what people are missing is Its been z brushed so it hasn't gained polys it's just been sculpted and textured still good work tho

  • Hi poly model from Zbrush has been converted to low poly using normal maps.

  • thats the awsomest lowpoly charachter ever!

  • That is statistically impossible, but thanks anyway! :P

  • lol how is that low poly looks amazing!

  • When is the new blender coming out?

  • Hard to say, this year for sure.

  • It was released two days ago

  • 2.5 Alpha you mean.

  • Wow, this gives me hope as an aspiring indie game artist. Beautiful work of art! :) I'm a MAX native personally. I found Blender's interface a bit intimidating, but was considering trying it again because it seems like such a fascinating (not to mention cost-effective! LOL) alternative! I noticed you mentioned preferring it over 3D Studio MAX in another comment...would you mind telling me why? I'm really curious about its strong-points over MAX :) Thanks! ^_^

  • If you want to start with Blender, wait about 30 days more - there is a 2.5 version coming our way with quite a rearrangement of interface and controls, also much better mesh editing.

The main strong point over max is that it is free. Also it is frequently updated.

An advantage for me is that it is hotkey oriented - speeds things up.

But to be honest, max is one of the best, and in many ways Blender can't compete.

  • zomg rly good work with nodes =O

what program you used to make the textures?

  • Thanks. I used Photoshop and Blender's Texture paint for the stencil maps (for separating different materials).

  • Look's amazing, now my question is why you don't use 3Ds Max?

It's fast to learn if you allready know how to model, and with those skills, it would get even better (:

  • I'm familiar with 3ds max, and I prefer Blender :P

  • Can you also model things like plants, trees, food(bottles, medicine bottles etc.) weapons and so on? Also texturing?

I'm making small mods in a game called Fallout 3, it use .nif files for models, and .dds for textures. I think it's possible to make them in blender too.

But since i'm awfull to modelling and texturing, i can only borrow models/textures from other people, maybe if you wan't it would be awesome if you could help me.

  • So fucking fantastic maybe this is what i needed.... tell me step by step how you did all that please.

  • Thanks. The steps are: highpoly sculpt, retopo, normal mapping, ao baking, using nodes to create materials, using photoshop to create textures, gsls in the viewport.

  • mmm.... maybe you spoke chinese to me lol..... you sure that was made in Blender? lol cos i never heard of baking and gsls. and damn im not that good using photoshop

  • I'm pretty sure it was made in Blender - It said "Blender" when I started the program...

  • How long did it take

  • A week or so.

  • awesome !!

  • wow! this character looks very good. how many years are you using blender? this is the best Game Character i have ever seen :-)

  • Thanks. I first used Blender about 2 years ago, had a break, and now I'm using it again.

For amazing game character art search for Kevin Lanning for instance,

  • Amazing texture! How many polys is this?

  • It's 8519 tris, but could be lowered easily, as it includes her full body which is not visible.

  • NICE! Uhmm... would you happen to have a male character that you'd want to share? =)

  • :) No, not yet, but maybe in the future, so stay tuned.

  • i think he used a normal map to make it look high poly

  • that's correct

  • How is ZBrush? Is it easy to get used to?

  • Well, when you learn the basic principles (what are tools and why they are dropped to canvas for example) it becomes quite natural

  • wow. amazing. are you going to make a game with it?

  • thanks. no, it's just practice (for now)

  • Wow thats Awesome =D
