All the movies on Youtube with Volvo cars beating BMW's, are tuned Volvo's! So what does this say? Simple, it says that a stock Volvo don't stand a chance against a stock BMW. This is not right. An stock s40t5 25,000USD Volvo is fastest compared with 30,000 ~ 45,000 BMW (325, 330, etc). M3 is an expensive machine.

A Volvo S40 T-5 straight out of the box is not faster then an M3. But if you are comparing price then you probably get more for your money with the Volvo, but who cares about the value on the strip!

Volvo's and the more popular S40 line is the most under rated performance sport-sedan on the market. Id gladly take one over the usual Beemers or Benz. Styling is all Nordic, built like a tank, built in Sweden!, and holds value over the years. Anything i missed? oh, yes it can beat up on the highend Euro cars too!

Hang on, we have a 2005 v-70 r with more boost than standard, has abut 350 horse power and 450 nm of torque, it does pretty well, especially with the awd. Has beaten a HSV with 317kw at the lights due to grip. the diesel might be quicker but don't say it would beat the shit out of any Volvo (don't forget you need to put all the torque through two wheels, and diesels run out of legs pretty soon).

I like BMW a lot (I will get a 335i or 135i soon) but the fact is mods in volvo are extremely cheaper compared with mods in bmw. and the volvo engines only take advantage of 60 ~ 70% of the potential stock, this is why volvos with small mods (i'm talking less than 2000 usd) can gain 100 usd easy...

if an s40 with 3000usd mods (total price 30,000usd) can beat an m3 (90,000usd)... deserve the credit... no doubt... is 1/3 price!!!
