  • I just made it for fun - and to show people how amazingly simple a tool can be transformed into something different. The 'charkha' was a spool wi nder first! In a weaving shop you can buy them for relative small amount of money compared to actual charkhas. You might need a washer to go on the spindle first, to prevent the wool that winds on the spindle to get stuck at the back, that is all - and about the spining thing: the method that I show here is called longdraw spinning -thank for comment

  • could you show us how you made it?i am a first time spinner and am looking to buy one i like your style of charka bc i have limited space and funds.u may want to consider selling them.i know i would buy one

  • this is awesome! where did you get the little wheel?

  • @castersugardesigns

in the desc ription I mention that this 'wheel' actually is/ has been a spool winder for the winding of yarn onto weaving spools. I have reïnforced it, because it is real antique and was a bit wobbly. I also replaced the spindle by a stronger one, that als was a bit more smooth to enable the yarn to 'flip' off the point as is needed in this kind of longdraw spinning.

    Thanks for your reaction!
